I filed taxes in January with Taxnet financial. The following day my checking account was closed. I immediately notified them and provided different bank info. I was told by several agents my return would be deposited to the correct checking account . The day before my return was to be sent from the irs I called Taxnet to confirm my money was going to the right account. I was told that if wouldnt be and would be sent via check . I was told to call back after a few days. I called and spoke with a manager who told me that my check would be sent via 2 day mail and that I would receive it by Wednesday and to call the Monday prior to get check info. I call only to find out that my payment date was changed and I would receive on Thursday instead I was told the check had been mailed and no check info could be provided .Well its Thursday and no check. After calling 7 times I was told my check wasnt generated until yesterday and that I now would receive it with ***** business days ! They have already had my return for over a week!! Ive waited 8 days for a manger to call me back and he hasnt . Every time I call to speak to one, Im told hes too busy to talk. Now my state refund is being processed and Im going to have this very issue again! They have already been paid for tax services so why are they taking my state return too? My tax preparation fees are 300 more than anywhere else and this is the customer service I get ? Its ok to lie to me over and over, not return calls , be hung up on and keep my money for a ridiculous amount of time . I feel like I have been scammed out of my refunds and Im not sure if I ever will receive it at all. This isnt right and Im not sure how its even legal . I have emails to back my claims, witnesses to various phone calls made and even phone recordings . This complaint is just about me getting my refund . There are several other issues experienced identical to what others have stated . Total scammers , and I need my money!Business Response

Dear Ms. ****** ******,
Taxnet Financial **** "We" understand that this matter has now been resolved, and you have received your bank check for the full tax refund less tax preparation fees.
YOUR refund deposit was rejected on February 21st, 2025 by YOUR bank. "We" provided you with ample disclosures when you authorized a deposit of YOUR federal and state tax refund to YOUR account ending in 6148 that if this account is later closed by YOUR financial institution or for any reason YOUR bank doesn't accept the *** or State deposits this would cause a delay. The fact that you notified us YOUR bank closed the account doesn't change that outcome. "We" have no mechanism to change a routing and bank account number that YOU have consented to have the *** and State Taxing authority to deposit. For YOUR protection the only alternative is to issue and deliver a bank cashier check in the name of the primary taxpayer to the address of the primary taxpayer. "We" provided the below notification in the agreement YOU signed which has been attached to this response:
DO NOT SIGN THIS APPLICATION IF THE ROUTING TRANSIT OR ACCOUNT NUMBER LISTED
ABOVE IS INCORRECT, CLOSED, OR FOR ANY REASON YOUR FINANCIAL INSTITUTION WILL NOT
ACCEPT AN ACH FEDERAL AND/OR STATE REFUND. INCORRECT OR CLOSED ACCOUNTS MAY
CAUSE SIGNIFICANT DELAYS. YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE YOUR
ACCOUNT NUMBER ONCE THIS APPLICATION IS SIGNED BY THE PRIMARY TAXPAYER.
"We" consider this matter closed since the consumer has received a bank check as an alternative to the direct deposit and is now satisfied. The complaint makes further unsubstantiated general claims that were made out of frustration of the delay. "We" believe most consumers understand that there are certain delays that are out of the scope of our control. This is a matter in which the consumer/taxpayer caused a delay by not providing a reliable bank account to deposit the refunds. "We" look forward to continuing to work with our client and welcome further feedback in order to improve our services.

I am rejecting this response because:No one ever told me they amended my taxes. To me. Taxnet knows how long that takes to get a refund they should have communicated with me before doing that. I literally cried when I had to call *** to check on my taxes and they told me it could take up to 16 weeks to ger my refund. I'm a single mom who needed my refund back in the 21 day time frame. Not to be in shock because I had no clue they did that to my taxes.

Dear ***** *****,
Taxnet Financial **** "We" understand the concern in YOUR complaint; however, "We" would like consumers to understand the following:
The ************************ "***" selects returns for examination using various methods which include random sampling, computerized screening, and comparison of information received by the *** such as Forms W-2 and 1099 forms. If YOUR return is selected for a review, it doesn't necessarily indicate or suggest a mistake was made submitting your information. The best way to resolve an "***" CP05 notice is to allow the tax professional to respond and work directly with the "***". If YOU do not have a tax professional, YOU can request the "***" to assign a taxpayer advocate to help. "We" provide resolution of "***" CP05 notices and other letters as part of our tax preparation services for no additional cost/fee.
"We" assigned a tax manager to YOUR account and worked with the "***" on YOUR behalf in order to obtain the best resolution for YOUR case. Our tax professionals are highly trained and work to help taxpayers receive refunds as quickly as possible while simultaneously upholding our professional standards. "We" will not provide the details of YOUR tax return on a public forum in order to protect YOUR privacy.
"We" have confirmed YOUR tax refund was deposited on March 21, 2025, by the ************************* days after your latest response. Please note the tax manager tried contacting YOU but the number YOU provided was no longer a working number. "We" hope to retain YOU as a client and look forward to YOUR return next tax season. Please feel free to contact us if there are any other questions or concerns.
"We" consider this matter closed because our tax professional team was able to assist the consumer by working with the *** to release the federal deposit.

I applied for a RAL with tax net financial on 1-19-25 and my refund had been sent to them and they will not give me my money. They charged me $528 for their service and I did not even qualify for the loan I applied for. That is the only reason I filed through them. I paid them all that money for nothing. Dear ********************************************** "We" are a tax preparation company and do not have control over the ***** underwriting criteria. There are many consumers that are approved for a ***** and others that are denied. To protect the privacy of your account "We" will not disclose any details of your application on a public forum.
"We" provided you disclosures in writing alerting you that Your application for a RAL may be denied If you have outstanding unpaid taxes, delinquent child support, delinquent student loans or other federal debt your application. Your RAL application may be denied if there are not adequate withholdings or estimated payments shown on your federal or state tax return. Your application for a ***** may be denied if there are aggressive tax positions taken and/or positions likely to subject your tax return to additional review by the federal or state taxing authority. Your application for a RAL may be denied if you have previously defaulted on a refund loan product. The lender reserves the right to deny a RAL application for any additional reason except for on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, ***, marital status, or age (provided the applicant has the capacity to contract); to the fact that all or part of the applicants income derives from a public assistance program; or to the fact that the applicant has in good faith exercised any right under the Consumer Credit Protection Act.
If declined for a ***** you will be notified in writing within 21 days for the adverse decision. If you are declined for a ***** you will not incur any finance charges, but you are still responsible for the tax preparation and administrative fees as described in the Tax Refund Anticipated Loan Disclosure. If approved, your RAL proceeds are disbursed within 12 hours of the *** accepting your electronically filed ("e-file") tax return.
Taxnet Financial **** "We" completed the services that YOU requested in writing (1) e-file federal tax return and (2) simultaneously apply for a Refund Anticipation Loan *****. "We" have attached YOUR signed authorization to complete both services for a fee regardless of the ***** decision by the lender. "We" do not condition on our services on if YOU are approved or not approved for a ***. As "We" clearly described a ***** is a loan and is not YOUR actual refund. In order to apply for a ***** YOU must first agree to e-file YOUR federal tax return.
To provide fair and full disclosure to consumers and ensure compliance to state and federal statutes "We" will continue to display all refund options including the option to obtain a tax refund anticipation loan. On January 1, 2013, we began to prominently display on each fee schedule a Notice Concerning Refund Anticipation Loans as required by the Tax Refund Anticipation Loan Reform Act.
"We" consider this matter closed because the consumer is not satisfied with a loan decision which is outside of the scope of our control. "We" disclosed to the consumer prior to the engagement of services that YOU do not have to apply for a ***** in order to electronically file your taxes and to consider all options including the *** free e-file program before applying for a *****.

Dear ******* ******,
Taxnet Financial **** "We" are glad that you chose us for your tax preparation needs this year. As a first time client "We" can understand the confusion after reading negative reviews on the internet ;however, rest assured "We" have been offering tax preparation services and tax loan related products responsibly for over ******************************************************************************************************************************************************************* the ************************* *****. Taxnet Financial **** "We" do not have any control over the underwriting criteria as "We" are a tax preparation service not a bank. "We" do recommend that consumers consider all filing options including the ***** free e-file option prior to applying for any bank products.
In your original statement you agreed you received your Refund Anticipation Loan ***** advance. A ***** is a secured loan and is not YOUR actual refund. Congratulations on your ***** approval and deposit but our tax professionals don't have any control over ***** decisions. Some consumers are approved for a ***** advance while others are denied.
Please note that your actual refund is issued by the ************************* at the direction of the "***". According to the "***" most refunds are issued in 21 days or less after the *** acceptance of an electronically filed tax return. Taxnet Financial **** "We" do not have any control over the timing of ************************* Deposits ;however, your actual refund was issued and deposited to your account within the timeframe the ***** has established. "We" will not disclose further details of your account on a public forum in order to protect your privacy.
"We" consider this matter closed because the consumer has received the ***** deposit without delay less the ***** advance as described in the signed agreement. "We" look forward to working with this new client again next year.

Taxnet Financial **** "We" do not perform any services without a written signed agreement. "We" are attaching the document that was provided to YOU prior to performing any services. The signed document also includes many consumer disclosures in normal print size to protect the public from entering into an agreement without a clear understanding. I applied for a RAL on 1/15/25. I was approved on 1/16/25. The loan was for 1278. Once approved they sent and email saying you would only get a loan for $750 and $438 was for tax preparation. I thought my taxes was only going to be filed through them once I received my loan. I was supposed to received within 12 hours. Never received says go by so I try to file with H&R Block and I get rejected because it says Ive already filed. No email or anything from tax net informing me that they had filed on my behalf. So I contact them and they say yes they filed my taxes but I was approved for the loan because of an offset. I received my tax return and the 1278 was taken out. I contact them and they say someone will contact me. This is the worst tax experience Ive ever had. The communication is terrible actually nonexistent. The last email I received said I was approved. Not conditionally approved. I want my RAL that I didnt receive.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: was notified by telephone after filing a complaint with the BBB , could never get a response prior to contacting the BBB (thank you BBB) ( This is my first time going to the BBB so I wasn't sure what to expect) After contacting the BBB the business contacted me,,, the gentleman told me at 10:45 am that he was going to fix my tax return and that since I had already sent him the correct return or the way the correct return should look, He had everything he needed. He saiid it will take me about an hour but be patient as we are busy. He said after the hour I would be sent the corrected
Sincerely, return to look over and approve and then sign so it could be filed. He then went on to tell me that he didn't have to AMMEND it persay since it was at the stage yet with *** they just had to do a quick fix and that would make it so that I wont have to wait to get the correct amount. I would get 2 checks but on the same day. the original and the corrected amount to **** the right amount. Well I was patient I waited 2 days but never received the copy to look over and sign. So the 3rd day I sent another email asking what could possibly be the hold up now? The following evening I got an email; that said, ***** we have filed an Amended return(which I was told didn't need to happen just a quick fix push of a button) but no copy of the correct return. I then said okay and where can I find that? That's when they sent me a copy of a form that I was clueless how to read... and at the bottom I noticed no signatures... so I ask how they filed it if I didnt sign it or agree to it? to which I still never received an answer and that was a day ago! I also ask if they were going to wave the ****** some fee since in reality I had to do my return and send it to them to get it filed correct... but still to this day I have no idea if it is even fixed, the *** websight shows the wrong income for the 2024 yeat even... so how do I even know? They didn't answer that question either because they will still take my money which will make me seek legal counsel.... I am so upset that I trusted them. I do my own taxes every year and have never had to amend and have always done them free. I trusted TaxNet and they have not even tried to helpo me. IM a single mom of 2 kids and I work my **** off at 80 hrs a week to support my kids all on my own,,,, this is the last thing I need! I will never trust anyone to do my taxes again! so disappointed that I mean nothing to them, they might not be struggling alone but I am. I am rejecting this response because:i was not contacted to sign anything until February ***** when you responded to the original bbb complaint. So as a tax filer imagine sitying here having no idea whats going on with your taxes. Ive emailed you daily asking how I can check the status of my return when your not giving me the numbers I need to put in on the irs site. I sent you a completed copy of what my taxes should have looked like.
As per filing a incomplete return to get it faster.... when I applied for the anticipation loan I was told yo use my last pay stub as no w2 were sent out at the point. I used exactly that and nothing different. When my w2 was recieved I then sent it in as I was ask and still nothing was corrected until and not until I filed this complaint. I had every email sent. After I filed this complaint is when you emailed me to say you fixed it, but I was never given proof until the 26 and 27 when I got a docusign....which I've attached a screen shot 0f.

I initially applied for a holiday loan, I provided my last pay information in order to receive these funds and not my W2. This company then proceeded to file my taxes for the year with the *** without my permission. Im not sure how they managed to file my taxes as i did not provide the correct paperwork. I even specifically emailed to tell the that I did not wish to file my taxes with them, if the holiday loan was not approved. I then attempted to call the company on 1/24/25 to find out why and how they filed my taxes. As the information used to file was not complete. I was promised a call back and did not receive one. I have other paperwork that has to accompany my tax paperwork and I am going to have to send in an amended tax return because of this situation. This company does terrible business. They do not return the several emails or calls made.Business Response

I have been filing my taxes with Tax Net Financial for three years. This is my third year using their services. Last year, they were not supposed to charge me fees because they had to file an amendment due to an incorrect filing the previous year. However, they charged me anyway, and I overlooked it at the time. This year, I received an email with a deposit confirmation code indicating an increase in my advance from $750 to $1,000 due to customer loyalty. The email included a direct deposit confirmation number, which was different from the $750 confirmation number. I reached out to them on January 22, 2025, to confirm the deposit. The representative advised me to wait for the deposit. When I followed up the next day, I was told there would be no deposit, and they admitted the email contained a mistake in its wording. They stated that the increase to $1,000 would apply next year instead, which is completely unacceptable. When I asked about the confirmation code, they had no explanation. Why would a company send an email stating they are depositing money into an account when they have no intention of doing so? This is deceptive business practice and needs to be addressed.I believe I am entitled to a full refund of the fees for this tax return cycle, as well as the additional $250 that was promised.Business Response

Ms. **********,
Taxnet Financial "We" appreciate your loyalty as a returning client. "We" agree that a deposit was made to YOUR account in December in the amount of $750 as per YOUR RAL agreement. Subsequently, in January an email was sent to some of our loyal clients that a credit line increase of $250 or $500 has been applied to the account due to the excellent history and relationship with us. The credit line increase began in 2025 and YOU have already applied for a RAL so "We" are unable to accept a second application. The intent of the email was to thank you for your loyalty and increase YOUR Credit line for the 2025 tax season.
"We" are unable to process another application but in December of 2025 YOU are welcome to apply for a RAL in the amount of $1,000 as a returning client.
In order to resolve this matter "We" are applying a $30 tax preparation fee credit to YOUR account.

I am rejecting this response.
According to your own RAL (Refund Anticipation Loan) agreement, the approved loan amount was $1,200. However, only $750 was deposited into my account. I am requesting an explanation for the discrepancy and the immediate release of the remaining balance.
If the loan was approved for $1,200, the difference should have been directly provided to me as the customer. Withholding a portion of the advance without clear justification appears to be a deceptive business practice. I am not requesting a new loan; I am simply asking for the balance of the loan that was already approved and should have been disbursed in full.
I am concerned that submitting a loan for $1,200 and retaining a significant portion of the advance may be illegal under U.S. law. If this issue is not resolved promptly, I will have no choice but to consult an attorney and explore further action.
Additionally, I was informed last year that I would not be charged for tax preparation services, yet a portion of my payment was withheld. This is unacceptable. If your company continues to operate in this manner, I am certain it will face legal consequences.
I demand the following:
1. The immediate return of the remaining balance of the advance taken out in my name.
2. A copy of my tax return, which I have yet to receive. I also note that the return has not been signed or approved by me.
Please address this matter urgently. I expect a resolution and the requested documentation within [reasonable timeframe, e.g., 7 business days]. Failure to do so will leave me no choice but to escalate this issue further.
Sincerely,
