This company sends out award and sweepstakes notification letters along with legitimate looking checks, stating that the recipient is a winner of a specified amount of money. Included in the solicitation is a check that per the letter is to be deposited by the consumer to cover "taxes", "processing fees", or "insurance" and forwarded to a third party. The Better Business Bureau would like to advise consumers that this offer is fraudulent and the check is not legitimate. By depositing the provided check into a bank account, it will eventually bounce and the consumer will consequently forward his or her own money to the third party. The BBB advises that consumers should exercise extreme caution when dealing with offers that request advance payments for lotteries, sweepstakes, and loans.
