When I first met ****** Jensen, I was somewhat a new reporter. I moved from *******, ******** to ******* to work as a reporter for Jensen Litigation Solutions. I was so excited and I got really good work. To tell the truth the work was probably a little out of my league, considering I was a new reporter. Nonetheless, it was manageable. I recall being sent on a two-week trial at the ************, a medical malpractice. Keep in mind I was not doing real time. I wasn't intimidated by it being a medical malpractice trial because I was very confident that if I didn't know it, I could look it up. Long story short, at the end of the trial on a Friday, I received a call that the attorneys needed the transcript by the coming Monday, which was only two days away. I said there's no way I can do it in two days. ****** had me come into their office, locked me in the office, her and her staff, no food, no water until I really started complaining. I asked to leave to go get rest. They would not allow me to leave. I had to sleep on the office floor. She had a few people proofing and scoping as well as myself and made the deadline. This has haunted me for a long time. I always wondered why did I let them do that to me. Why didn't I say something? I guess I was too embarrased. But now that I'm a seasoned reporter with certifications in over five states, real time proficient, daily copies, etc., I know better. And I know that there is a huge shortage of shorthand reporters. This is one of the main reasons why. A lot of these firms will do anything to please the attorneys at the expense of the reporter. If I had not been a strong person and determined to go far in my career, it would have been over that day. As an experienced reporter now who caters to clients as well, I know that that went way too far and somebody should have been prosecuted and/or sued for the way I was treated. So I'd say to all new reporters, stay away from this firm if it hasn't destroyed you yet. On top of everything, she did not pay me for the 100 of pages I did. It was pure torture. I guess you can say I'm finally getting this off my chest. Now I can move on without this nightmare hunting me every so often.
