    In the early morning hours of Friday, February 23, I booked a room at the Robey hotel online on behalf of my friend so they would have a place to stay for one night. When my friend arrived to checkin, the hotel denied them entry because they did not have the physical credit card to guarantee the reservation. Per Robey's guarantee policy: "All reservations must be guaranteed with a credit card which is valid on the day of arrival. Non-guaranteed reservations are not accepted." Thus, the reservation in this case was never guaranteed by myself or my friend. Luckily, I was able to arrange different accomodations for my friend.Later in the morning (the same day I made the booking online), I cancelled the non-guaranteed reservation at the Robey. I was informed there would be a cancellation fee, because the reservation (again, non-guaranteed) was being cancelled within 24 hours of the stay. The cancellation fee was one nights stay plus tax. I was subsequently charged for one nights stay plus tax, which is the very same amount as per the original booking.Frankly, this is absurd. According to Robey's policy, any reservation for one night made for the same day can never be cancelled without still paying in full for the night, even IMMEDIATELY after booking, because that is within 24 hours. Moreover, my friend was denied at checkin. Further, the reservation was never even guaranteed, and therefore not even accepted by Robey per its policy. As such, it is beyond the pale that I should be charged any cancellation fee, much less the full amount for the booking.
