I have moved into this apartment complex January 2023 and one of the things that was helpful for me and my family was they had a elevator service that was helpful for a mom of 3. Moving into the building the whole year of 2023the elevator would be up and down for months with parts even having the fire department come out multiple times setting off the smoke detectors in the building. The year of 2024 the elevator got fix for a month(June) and was right back out of service in that same. Through out these issues when reaching out to the leasing office or the property management they would say they waiting on a piece to be deliver to fix the elevator. The year of 2025 before resigning my lease i ask was the elevator going to be fix the answer was yes they should be working on it this month. Its June 2025 and the elevator is still not fix my two year old son even felt between the railing using the back steps I have email the office about the incident and nobody responded back or even check on me and my family.Initial Complaint

I applied to The Annabelle apartments on February 13th. I paid an administration fee of $395 and an application fee of $75. No, I did not get the apartment. Speaking with the property manager, he assured me that I would get the refund of the $395 admin fee and $75 application fee. I received the refund a few days after. After receiving the refund, I used it for a different purchase. The refund posted to my account as pending, but did not completely post as a complete transaction. A few days later after viewing my bank account and talking to my bank (***), it looked as if the refund was canceled. which put me in a negative balance of $470. After contacting the property manager a few times with no answer, I did a transaction dispute with my bank. My bank eventually credited my account. They only credited me $395 and not the entire $470.Initial Complaint

I have been having a cockroach problem in my apartment for the past 4-5 months. Despite reporting the problem multiple times I am still experiencing cockroaches. I believe this is a health issue as I've found them on both my stove and toothbrush multiple times. Management and maintenance has been inconsistent about addressing the problem. Id send emails about the issue, then end up needing to walk into the management office to get a response. They did end up spraying my apartment and patching up around my pipes two weeks ago. However, I was still seeing roaches after they came in. I went to the office again to complain about the continued ***** presence and was told that they would bring in someone to fumigate my apartment while I was out of town this past week and was supposed to get an email when that was scheduled. However, I never received an email, and even followed up asking twice while I was gone. When I returned, the apartment did not appear to be fumigated and I still saw multiple cockroaches. I would understand if they were unable to schedule it due to the holidays, but the lack of communication on the ongoing matter when previously being told Id get an email was disappointing. I am still currently waiting to hear back about the issue. When I asked if I could get any sort of compensation for the problem or possibly end my lease without extra charge due to not feeling comfortable staying in my apartment for a couple days and because pest control is included in my lease, I was told neither is possible because they cant control if roaches come in. However, I feel like this is unfair if it continues to be a problem when I have a right to a pest free home. I have also seen some roaches in the hallways and have seen other reviews on the building mentioning cockroach problems, so this seems to be a larger issue within this apartment that they have not sufficiently addressed.Initial Complaint

I am writing regarding a rental issue at *************************************************, managed by ***. The lease quote I received was $1966, which included a base rent of $1831, $50 for internet, and $85 for utilities. The lease generated showed the total amount as $1966, which seemed correct based on what the leasing manager told me.However, I am now being charged $1966 as the base rent, with internet and utilities added on top, bringing the total to $2101. The reason given is that I signed the lease. The previous leasing manager acknowledged the issue and applied a credit for utilities and internet instead of correcting the lease. Unfortunately, she left without notice, and the new leasing manager is unhelpful and insists I pay $2101, claiming I did not read the lease correctly.I am extremely disappointed as the original leasing manager and the website both indicated a total of $1966, inclusive of all amenities. I genuinely feel misled and tricked into this situation, and now I feel helpless.I am attaching the payment credits generated by my previous leasing agent for the months of Oct and Nov. I moved in late Sep.Initial Complaint

We live at *************** which is TLC property. It is badly run. In the 4 years we have lived here no improvements have been made but the rent goes up every year. My sister and I have tried to find another place to move but because of our age 80 and 77 it is not easy. This complaint happened today. They were repainting the striping in the parking lot and gave us a very hard to understand map. We parked our cars where we thought the map showed us. However both of our cars were towed to another part of the lot and we will be billed $100 each because we made a mistake. We were not the only ones that were towed. We are on a fixed income and paying over $2000 to rent this small apartment. We can't pay $200 more. Included in our rent is $50 a month for the Internet which we don't use. Since we did move our cars we would like the $200 to be taken off of the bill. It was an honest mistake and I believe the map they gave us was deliberately hard to understand. Please let me know if there is anything else you need. The $200 buys us **** of groceries and this company never returns our calls. Hopefully we can move next year to a senior facility but there are long wait lists. Plus *** wants to know if we are moving 6 weeks before the end of our lease and penalizes us if we don't give that amount of time. Most complexes don't know what they have available six weeks ahead of time. Thank you for looking into this.Initial Complaint

TLC Management states as their policy that they will refund the $395 application fee if they do not follow through with a lease. You are required to give them that fee and a $75/per person fee. The $75 per person is not refundable, the $395 is. I would never have agreed to pay the $395 fee if I had known it would not be returned. We attempted to rent an apartment from them in July. We paid the fees and waited. We were granted conditional acceptance. I received a phone call from *****, the property manager at the Max, saying I had to provide 3 months of unredacted bank statements in order to be fully qualified. I sent those in. We never heard back until after the start date of the rental. My son then spoke with ***** on the phone at which point she said the application fee would be refunded. It has not been refunded. Every phone number available for this company goes to only one place, their customer service center. I've left numerous messages, I have never been called back by anyone. I believe this a fraudulent business practice of to take money and insist on collection personal financial data with no intent to rent the apartment.Customer Answer

This aparmtment complex is buyers remorse for me. I wish I could break my lease. I have someone allowing there dog constantly urinate outside my door a lot of times so it has become a nuisance. Upon telling the community manager *************************, he has not been able to help me with this situtation. Nor does he seem to care. I can't get a human to answer the phone at the TLC Management company. As ****** and the managment company are both hard to reach by phone. I went to leasing office at 9 a.m to speak with ****** and I saw him but he told me to come back at 10 a.m because they were closed , it was 9 a.m. I left. I then called back at 10 a.m. and no one answered the phone in the leasing office. I did get an email from ****** which I attached below that stated someone would come to clean the dog urine. No one ever came because ****** claimed every one was busy. What would have taken a small amount of time being that I contacted him in the morning and he has given me the run around. I want to be contacted by someone who can actually help I am paying my hard working money to deal with c*** from this managment company.Initial Complaint

I have been living in this location for almost 3 years and it seems to get worse and worse each year. The first year I dealt with mice in my apartment even though it is spotless. They eventually had pest control come out several times over the month before anything was actually done. I still have holes in my apartment and the area where the radiator has a leakage and nothing has been done about it. We also have an elevator in the building that is broken at least 4 times a month without no one actually doing anything to fix it. There are 2 front doors at this building...One that leads to the hallway and the other that leads to the lobby. The door leading to the hallway has been broken several times, and the one leading to the lobby also has done the same. Allowing any and everybody access to come into the building and of course although they say we have 24/7 maintenance, they never actually get it fixed. Another issue happens to be the washers and dryers that we are supposed to have access to. They're usually broken more than anything. Just this past week I came downstairs to see the entire mailbox was broken into and everyone's mail was stolen, including mine. Which included bank statements and a lot of other personal information and the only thing the property manager said is WE'RE CALLING **** TO FIX THE MAILBOX. Not ever addressing peoples things that were stolen. When I reached out to him, he said they apparently have cameras but from my knowledge they don't work. I have a neighbor on the same floor who has mold all over her bathroom and they have yet to fix anything. The doors in my apartment have literally been falling off the hinges for almost 2 years now. I have holes at the bottom of the floor where mice come in and the only thing they've done is stuff it with wool. Its ridiculous to have to constantly pay for an apartment that is not secure and not well taken care of. I have several videos showing proof.Initial Complaint

I need to report fraud. After an accounting error I was not charged monthly for electricity as I was billed prior on this same lease. After asking why this happened, I was told this mistake wasnt on purpose, which is fine, though after I requested a payment plan for the companys accounting error I am instead being charged with a late fee and now eviction notice for the issue made. This is wrong, I have full intention of paying this but I need the office to work with me as this mistake made by the company has made my regular rent price move from 1222 to 1800 and I cannot afford this without a payment plan. On top of this, the company knew of these bills at the first of every month and failed to inform me, and instead of giving me the right to pay it in installments as they did they want me to pay it in full along with a late fee and are threatening eviction if I dont. This is retaliation after filing a report, and is also retaliation after a company mistake. This is illegal and I need help. No one will put me in touch with the landlord or Property Manager to handle this issue, only the assistant property manager who has done nothing but harass me and knock at my door with the illegal notice and fees. I need to be put in touch with the landlord or Property Manager to handle this dispute and no one will connect me. If this building is operating without a landlord or Property Manager that is also illegal. I need someone to connect me with these individuals immediately at ************************** to discuss this illegal eviction. Ive been a tenant for 3 years now and cant believe this is how I am being treated.
