On March 6th, I purchased a resale ticket for a March 11th showing of "The importance of being *******."Later that day, I received a vague email saying my attention was needed and that I had to call.I called, and they informed me that my ticket would be a "will call" ticket at the venue' booth, that there would be an email, and that the ticket would be received.On March 11th, at around 4pm, I used their live chat to confirm that I would receive my ticket in time. I was assured that I would receive an email "within an hour" and that I would be able to see the show. In reliance of this, I drove and met my date for the show. At around 5:15pm, I once again used their live chat due to not receiving any email. I was once again assured I would receive my ticket and be able to attend the play.The ticket was never sent, and I was unable to join my date to the play. In total, I spent around 3 hours on the phone and text chat trying to receive the ticket I ************ of right now, my ticket's status is "confirmed." The customer service representatives in these latter two live chats made common grammatical errors and seemed to be intentionally delaying me or were not human.RateMySeats's 4.7 stars on ****** is overwhelmingly by bot comments with these same grammatical errors. From my reading of the website's terms of use, it includes unconscionable waivers of lawsuit and does not guarantee a refund for this situation. While I would possibly receive a refund if I complained directly, I am certain there are thousands of other consumers who do not receive their tickets and are not automatically refunded.I would also be unable to recover for the fuel and emotional costs of detrimentally relying on their promises.I would deeply appreciate the BBB's assistance in my complaint, and in reviewing the company to save other consumers from this scam supported by fake reviews and false affirmations of ticket sales.Business Response

I purchased concert tickets online & used ****** for payment. Normally, after entering the payment info a customer is routed back to the vendor to review the details (like fees & shipping) & confirm purchase. In this case, the vendor didn't outline any fees or shipping costs prior to me entering ******'s site, nor did it route me back to it's site to provide a breakdown of charges and the final total. Once I completed the ****** process, I was done. I was not returned to the rate yourseats site for a breakdown of charges and the final cost to review, nor was I given any opportunity to stop my transaction. I have not received an email receipt or confirmation from the company. I only discovered I was charged over $60 above the price of my tickets in an email from ******, which arrive almost instantaneously. At that point, I immediately emailed rateyourseats support (which I was able to get from the ****** email) to complain and request a refund. Approx. 24 hours later, having received no response to my email, I called I called the customer service line. The explanation for not being given a breakdown of charges during the purchase process was "maybe the website crashed." I was told I could not get a refund because the "tickets are arriving this week," although I haven't received a tracking email from a courier or ***** I offered to return the tickets and was told that they're a secondary market and their return policy doesn't allow it.I purchase things online and use ****** all the time and have never seen anything like this. There was no transparency during the rateyourseats purchase process and no opportunity to review a breakdown or stop the transaction. The have not provided confirmation or documentation of my purchase or evidence that the tickets have already been sent. I am rejecting this response because:1. I received the tickets but still have not been given a detailed accounting of the charges - no email confirmation with a breakdown and the ******* envelope only contained the tickets and no documentation of the transaction. Over $60 in shipping and handling is excessive, in my opinion and I would not have paid it had I been informed. I still have not been informed what I was charged for both *** shipping and fees.
2. Within about 2 hours of my purchase, I emailed Rate Your Seats support to explain how the problem with my online experience a (i.e. no breakdown of charges was provided) shortly after I received a ****** email confirmation and to cancel my purchase. It's been 5 days and I still have not received any email acknowledgement that my emails was received or any response from Rate Your Seats.
3. The following morning, I called Rate Your Seats - using a number *************) that I got off the ****** receipt. I was told that the purchase couldn't be cancelled because "the tickets are arriving this week." This was on SUNDAY - and only about 24 hours after my purchase - so very unlikely the shipping was already arranged. Plus *** typically does not pick up from businesses on Sunday and the *** tracking and stamps on their envelope confirm that the label wasn't created until MONDAY at 10:45 am (PST), two hours AFTER my call to Rate Your Seats (at 11:24 am CST or 9:24 am PST).See attached shipping documentation. There was time to stop and cancel the order as I requested.
The business is unprofessional and their practices lack transparency and are deceptive. I have never dealt with a business that did not inform me what I was paying for their goods or services in advance. Nor have I dealt a company that doesn't even provide a confirmation or receipt providing a breakdown of expenses afterwards. There was sufficient reason and time to cancel my purchase and refund my money. At a minimum, there was an opportunity to change the shipping method to a slower, cheaper option (since the performance is still weeks away) or to adjust the fees considering their site "crashed" and their non-responsive support team and inferior customer service overall. At every step of the way, this business opted to do the wrong thing. Shame on them.
I have also reported Rate Your Seats to the ********************************** and have filed a dispute with my credit card company (Chase).

The customer service *** I spoke to (****) on Monday offered the ambiguous explanation that my order could not be cancelled because the tickets would be arriving this week. That was Monday morning, and the *** ticket wasnt created until the next day. Clearly there was time to cancel my order. Also, as previously stated, I offered to return the tickets and there was plenty of time before the performance date for you to resell them.
I have not received any email communications not to my inbox or spam. You already have my email because I emailed you immediately after my purchase and never got a ***ly. Also, during your sites purchase process the customer is required to enter two matching email addresses. I have one email account; I dont think I typed an incorrect address twice and they matched. Finally, considering my experience with your customer service (email and phone), I do not think I should have to call again to get what I should have received and have requested again here.
Your website makes this statement: Our commitment to providing an excellent customer experience goes beyond our super-charged seating charts. Its our 100% Buyer Guarantee and our commitment to customer service that set us apart!
This customer is not satisfied. Every step of the way I feel I have been misled and that your company has no interest in customer service. I do not expect a full refund (and did not request that when I filed a dispute with my credit card). On 7.18.24 I looked to purchase tickets to the **** vs ************ game that Friday 7.19.24 in the ************************************************************ that club, the website does not sperate sections AA18 and ************************************** one giant section 18. Ratemyseats said they take no responsibility for the incorrectly labeling the section and that the seats seller correctly labeled the seats.Business Response

I purchased game tickets from RateYourSeats.com and never received my tickets despite calling in about it. They continuously claimed they emailed them to me and that my email is not working. I ordered tickets to a Red Sox game for same day tickets, I received a conformation but my status kept saying processing. I tried to call the line was a fax. I tried the real time chat, they would not connect me to a person, when they finally did they kept asking me for an ID number, I gave them the only number I had which was a confirmation number, they kept saying that the number was not valid so then they then started asking for all my personal info. My issue has not been resolved. I contacted the company via email and in person and they said I could not be refunded because they have evidence that the tickets were transferred, however they will not provide me with any evidence or even tell me where the tickets were allegedly transferred to. As you will see from the documents I submitted with my complaint, I was supposed to receive 2 additional emails; 1 telling me how to download the tickets and 1 to tell me the tickets were transferred. I never received either follow-up email (and yes I checked my junk folder) and I never received any tickets.They say that the company 100% stands behind their sales and guarantee the tickets will be transferred by game time, yet the game started and I was outside of the stadium still trying to figure out if the tickets were going to be transferred to me. Once the online chat could not find my order after several tries I bought new tickets at the box office and we went into the game late after the first inning was over.These tickets were for sale on another website Game Time Tickets) because I originally tried to buy them from that site, but it did not have a map of the stadium so I plugged the seats into ****** which brought me to rate your seats which showed the location of the seats. I tried to buy them on Game Time because they were cheaper but when I clicked on them it was not connecting which is how I ended up buying them on rate my seats.After a useless phone call with the company I emailed the company asking for their address to send a letter and legal service, now they are back peddling and stating they are trying to reach their seller.No one at that company can tell me why I did not get the 2 additional emails or where the tickets were sent to, yet the sale is final so there is nothing they can do. I disagree, they should be insured.I want to pursue this matter. They dropped the ball as the middle man. I am rejecting this response because, they are not accepting responsibility for the fact that they failed to send me the two additional emails that were necessary for me to have information to download the ticket (if they were in fact transferred which I do not have evidence of all I know is I never received them). The company's "customer service" could not verify my confirmation number when I was trying to resolve the issue for over an hour before the game started resulting in me spending an additional $312.00 on tickets at the box office. The company website states that they "proudly stand behind every ticket transaction with our 100% guarantee". I did not receive the tickets; they did not communicate with me to give me the information necessary to download the tickets and I did not receive any email confirming the tickets were transferred. They will not even tell me where the tickets were supposedly sent. How is any of this my fault? Why am I out $316.62.I did challenge the charge on my credit card because I have been snidely told via email and in a phone conversation that I can challenge the charge, but it will take 8 weeks, and I will not win.

Just like other people have complained in previous complaints, I purchased my tickets and they did not ever cultivate or exist on any ticket platform. After being sent an email and a text message to confirm I had my tickets from rateyourseat.com that didn't go anywhere with no link.... I had called back a second time. I finally got a link and it sent me to ticketmaster.com through their link which shows I don't have any ticket purchased...??? Weird... They stated in the second call that I would receive my ticket within 24 hours after purchasing it in April and figuring out I did not have my ticket the week of my music event I wanted to go to. Cost me $250... Even though they respond to these complaints, I am one of the thousands of people that have had the same issue. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM ITS ALL OVER REDDIT!! Another way for other customers in the ********************** to understand when you keep track of these type of scams. A bank and other agencies including ticketmasters direct phone number. I'll ask you the EXACT same security questions EVERY time... They do not each time I had called back in the three different calls, I had three different verification methods. This is not legit by the time I noticed I had to read $250. I hope this happens to no one else and I hope the better Business bureau cracks down in this business and shuts them down permanently! It is absolutely ridiculous that people are allowed to file for legit companies and scam people and use some of their illegally obtained scammed money to purchase placement on ****** platform to end up near the top of the search list. I purchased 2 tickets to *************************** July 5, 2024 show in ****** ME but need to resell the tickets due to a family emergency. But I have no tickets to resell because the tickets have not been transferred to me. These are TicketMaster/LiveNation tickets and should have been transferred to my LiveNation digital wallet upon completion of the purchase last fall. I went back and forth with this company at that time. But they really are just a platform that is seemingly extremely terrible at verifying whether sellers actually have the tickets. Because anyone who's bought/sold tickets before with AXS or LiveNation knows how tickets are managed in those apps' digital wallets. To make matters worse, when contacted the RateMySeats team advised me to simply resell the tickets (that I don't have) and then electronically transfer them to the new party. But that potentially doubles my loss since (let me repeat) I. Do. Not. Have. The. Tickets. Nor do I have confidence that I will get the tickets.Business Response

I purchased tickets from Rateyourseats.com in November 2023 for a *************************** concert that was scheduled on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at ********************* in ***. I paid $445 for two tickets. Approx one week prior to the concert, I received an email notifying me that the concert was rescheduled to Tuesday, May 28, 2024. The venue indicated that all tickets would be refunded at the original point of sale. I cannot attend the rescheduled concert date for a myriad of reasons, including travel issues, work, and childcare. This, I reached out to Rateyourseats.com to request a refund. Upon speaking to ***** at Rateyourseats.com, I was informed of their policy that all tickets are final sale and no refund would be issued. Her only suggestion was to take it upon myself to resell the tickets (including telling me to ****** how to do it), which would result in hundreds of dollars in losses (as the tickets are now selling for way less than I purchased them for). Now, not only can I not attend a concert I paid for months ago, but I stand to lose hundreds of dollars through no fault of my own. ***** refused to refund my money and refused to escalate my complaint any further. Apparently, stealing customers money is Rateyourseats policy. Their practices are undoubtedly unconscionable and unfair to consumers, who have no bargaining power or ability to recover.Business Response

Since the event has been rescheduled and not fully cancelled, your tickets are still valid for the new date.
Unfortunately, we are not able to find any evidence that all tickets for this event will be refunded at the point of sale, however, if there is additional documentation that can be submitted that supports this, we would be more than happy to elevate your concerns.
Finally, if you would like additional support from our service team regarding re-selling your tickets if you cannot attend the new date, we can certainly have a team member reach out directly to assist.

I am rejecting this response because:
You are choosing to accept $445 of my money in exchange for an agreement that you can no longer uphold. I cannot attend the 5/28/24 concert date, never said that I could, and would not have made the purchase on that basis. I cannot resell the tickets without significant administrative burden and financial loss. Your employee suggested that I resell the tickets. That is not my job. I am not a ticket seller. YOU are a ticket seller. You are also a corporate power, invoking arbitrary policies against an individual consumer that has no bargaining power. You do business in the State of *********** and are therefore subject to their laws. Your blanket policy of denying refunds to buyers who would otherwise be able to obtain a refund from other vendors, including the venue itself, is unconscionable and deceptive. It is a violation of the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act (*****). I will not let this go.Sincerely,

Thank you for your message. Because your tickets will be valid for the rescheduled date, we are unable to offer a refund as an option. Please keep in mind that we are only able to offer compensation if an event is officially cancelled.
Additionally, before completing the checkout process on our site, all customers must click a box that agrees to our sales terms and conditions that states all sales are final.
If youre unable to attend the new date, independent resale is always an option to recoup the cost of tickets! Many of our fans have success selling their tickets through social media, but you also have the option to locate a resale site by simply searching the internet using terms like Sell my tickets. Your chosen site will have more details on any seller fees or guidelines. On February 23, 2024, I placed an order for 4 concert tickets to see the ***** Brothers in **************. The order said the tickets would be delivered digitally to my cell phone. I have not received those tickets. I paid $1391.94 for 4 tickets. I have contacted the company 2 times by email and once by telephone with no response from them. I have no tickets to show for the money that I have paid. I need to get the tickets immediately or they can refund my money.Business Response

The venue may have placed a hold on inventory being released for this show which is why this date is close to the event date, however, many fans receive their tickets from the seller before their delivery date.
