I am an Afro-Latin nonbinary individual. I sent multiple emails to their team regarding disturbing behavior I experienced being avoided and treated with discomfort by predominantly cisgender white male patrons.Despite emphasizing I was not blaming the business itself, I wanted my feedback about patron culture to be heard in good faith. I received a response from co-owner **** ******** stating no other complaints had been received. In an unrelated ******** post about cis male privilege in q**** spaces, **** publicly engaged me in an antagonistic way and used that unrelated online dialogue as justification to ban me from the bars entirely.I then received hostile ******** messages from **** ******** accusing me of false allegations and gaslighting and using online discourse to gain popularity. My only offense was expressing concern about my treatment as a marginalized patron and participating in a ******** discussion outside the scope of bar operations. Despite repeated apologies, deleted posts, and efforts to resolve the situation, I was told the ban would remain in place.Additionally, **** Olliewho works at Jackhammer and 2Bears Tavern Uptownhas a documented pattern of providing discriminatory, dismissive, and rude service to myself and others, especially women and people of color. On the night of March 26 he:-Served me last in favor of white cis male patrons -Gave short, rude replies to me while being friendly to others Other patrons have reported similar patterns from **** at different locations. His behavior contradicts the businesss posted House Rules, which claim to uphold no racism, no transphobia, and mandatory respect. This ban and the continued employment of staff like **** send the message that marginalized patrons who speak up are disposable. It also appears that 2Bears Tavern only welcomes diversity when it's quiet and compliant.
