1 starIve spent nearly two months trying to resolve a $2,447.96 travel credit issue with United Airlines. Despite calling, emailing, and trying to escalate, including customer care, reservations, and customer relations, *** received no resolution and have been bounced in a frustrating loop. The credit was for a flight I booked in June 2024 to visit my grandad on hospice. I canceled due to urgent personal issues with my then husband. Sadly, my grandad passed away a few days later. Over the next year, I went through major life crises: divorce, cohabitating with my ex and his affair partner, family legal issues, starvation level weight loss from stress, and moving across the country. I was unable to travel between life events and medical safety due to the ************* May 2025, I finally stabilized and realized the credit was close to expiring. My name had changed due to the divorce, so I couldnt use it. They converted it to a travel certificate, but the expiration was still near. I was told by customer care that reservations could extend it. Reservations then told me to call customer care. ************* sent me back to reservations. I repeated this loop multiple times, with no one taking responsibility, though it was acknowledged by both departments that extensions are possible.I attempted to escalate by going up the chain of command to customer relations. I submitted my information and the details as to why I was unable to travel, as well as being told by multiple people that the expiration date could be extended. It's been three weeks, and Ive received no reply.I never asked for a refund. All I was asking for was a one year extension on a credit I couldnt use during a time of documented hardship. Uniteds failure to respond is appalling, and I'm surprised they're letting a first class customer down. I will never fly ********************** again.Review fromTara M

1 starThis airline turned a 2:30 hour flight into 5 hours without any decent explanation or even an apology. Airlines need to be forced to compensate passengers for their time. We are not just things to be used to make money. I recommend that passengers choose an airline that treats them with more respect.Review fromThorsten S

1 star2 1/2 hour delay for a 9:30 flight ************* to ******. Will now arrive at 3:30 AM. Nonsensical reason provided. A fellow passenger told me that she had a 2 hour delay on her inbound flight. Passengers are meaningless to United. We need ******** to pass a law that compensates passengers for their time. Otherwise, nothing will happen.Review fromIasmina A

1 starI had an extremely disappointing experience with United Airlines regarding a delayed baggage claim that lasted over three ******** suitcase was lost on a flight from ****** to ******, and during that time, I had to repurchase essential personal items totaling over $500, including critical medication I needed urgently. I submitted receipts and contacted United daily, but the only offer I received was a $200 travel voucher, which I declined because I no longer plan to fly with them.Their phone lines were unreachable, their customer service kept giving me the runaround, and they ultimately refused to reimburse me fairly for their own mistake. They also attached a release of liability clause to the travel credit, which felt like an attempt to silence any further claims.*** now filed a formal complaint with the ********************************* and am continuing to push for full reimbursement and compensation.I do not recommend flying with United if you value accountability, basic customer service, or timely handling of serious issues.Review fromErika C

1 starAbsolutely horrible airline. Never fly them, 0/10 recommend - they made a simple trip require 7 different planes, an airport on the original itinerary where everything was closed after they kept everyone on the plane for over 2 hours with no food, water, or air conditioning. Once we deplaned, no food was available in the airport (everything was closed for the night) or offered by United. They cancelled a flight and spent 2 hours flying a random flight path for no reason. Terrible customer service - after the most hellish travel experience my life, Im attempting to contact them to discuss the situation and find some justice for the Ubers and hotel we were forced to pay for in a random city we never intended to go to. They made travel so hard and of course unjustly charged me for a bag fee! They require you to input a credit card before you can even access your boarding pass. *************, bad business, atrocious experience and customer service. Fly anyone else. Theyre literally worse than Spirit.Review fromEdison G

1 starI am filing a complaint regarding United Airlines flight ******, scheduled to depart from ****** (EWR) to ******* (MCO) on July 12, 2025.The flight was delayed by over three hours with repeated last-minute changes to the departure time and absolutely no communication or assistance provided to passengers. United staff was not present at the airport to offer support or even basic updates. Many passengers, including myself, my son, and my wife, were left confused and stressed, with no idea of whether the flight would be canceled or rescheduled. This experience was extremely frustrating and unacceptable for a major airline. As a paying customer, I believe I was treated without the basic level of respect and transparency that travelers should expect.I am requesting a formal apology and compensation for the inconvenience caused, as well as an investigation into how this situation was handled.Flight details:Flight Number: ****** Date: July 12, 2025 Route: ****** (EWR) to ******* (MCO)Review fromBrook H

1 starUNITED AIRLINES IS VIOLATING FEDERAL LAW AND REFUSING LEGITIMATE REFUND REQUESTS We are absolutely outraged at the treatment weve received from United Airlines as first-class passengers, especially considering the clear violation of federal refund regulations. Our future flight (scheduled for July 19th, 2025) was delayed by more than 5 hours, which rendered our trip completely unworkable, particularly as we were traveling with a newborn baby. This delay forced us to cancel the trip altogether. We clearly communicated this in two formal refund requests (#******** and #********), only to be met with canned responses and a voucher offer we cannot use. We have no plans to rebook in the next year, and a travel credit is meaningless in our situation. Let us be clear: this delay is not our fault. And according to the ********************************* (14 CFR Part 259), a "significant delay" entitles us to a full cash refund, regardless of ticket type.Uniteds continued denial of our refund is not only unethical, it is illegal. We have now filed an official complaint with the ********************************* and will be pursuing further escalation if our refund is not immediately issued. This is a blatant display of disregard for your customers, your policies, and federal law. We are disgusted that a supposedly premium airline would treat its first-class passengers like this hiding behind technicalities and hoping customers just give up.We will never fly ********************** again. We urge others to take their business elsewhere and to beware that this company will fight you for every dollar, even when they are clearly in the wrong.Review fromChristopher L

1 starThey canceled our flight due to weather issues even though there was no adverse weather in either the departure or arrival cities. We all have radar apps and can clearly see the weather now, so they lied to us. Due to the cancellation of our flight we had a 25 hour layover in *******. The hotel attached to the airport is the ******. We paid $450 for one night! I called United Airlines and they refused to compensate me for the room. Their website is vague on what to do in this situation. Their app says nothing about hotel vouchers or what to do. They purposely bury the necessary information. I had to do a ****** search to find any information and then once found it doesn't spell out what to do or how to get a hotel voucher. I called their "customer care team" and they refused to compensate or help me with the cost of the room. They told me I can leave a review that will be processed on their website for help. Which I did. But it wouldn't take my comments and kept telling me to try again later. DO NOT FLY UNITED AIRLINES. They do not care about their passengers or the disruptions to your life.Review fromMike E

1 starUnited flight UA996 customers were treated poorly and customer service supervisor highly unprofessional. Initial flight delay of 3x was not Wearther related. Given there was finally a bad storm that came through the areas preventing departure and United using it as a cop out to satisfying their obligations to customers is unacceptable and warrants to be investigated. As a frequent flyer I am highly disappointed in discriminatory acts of United.Review fromAlexandra K

1 starThere are no words to describe the frustration of United Airlines. I'm looking for a complete refund. This is what I wrote to them in a complaint. If you can AVOID UA. Even Spirit never screwed me this badly. On Tuesday morning, July 8, I experienced a massive interruption in my flight path on Flight UA 1162. Due to obscure circumstances, the flight was delayed so severely an extra stop was added resulting in my missing my flight to ***. This further delayed my arrival to work by four hours and impeded me from a nights rest.upon arrival in ******* (after a ridiculous delay on the runway where myself and other passengers were forced to sit in the cabin for over an hour with limited air circulation), I learned the ****** to ********** flight was FURTHER DELAYED to a departure time or 1 pm. Furthermore, I MISSED A DOCTORS APPOINTMENT AT 11:45 AM in ************* DUE TO UNITED AIRLINES IRRESPONSIBILITY AND NEGLIGENCE. With under 24 hours to make any changes, the service was unacceptable and I expect either a full refund or voucher equivalent to what I paid initially, a sum of ****** USD. I am a working individual with people who depend on me; it is completely unacceptable that United make these dramatic changes on a whim. Please note this is the worst flying situation I have every encountered, and will not stop fighting United Airlines until I am fairly compensated for the inexcusably poor flight service. In addition to a full refund for an abysmal experience, I will also be charging United Airlines with all of the food items I had to suddenly pay for due to the careless, unplanned, unannounced, and likely unnecessary delays.
