On Wednesday 2/22/23 my wife brought her vehicle in for a tire alignment. At that time it was determined that there was a bent right control arm and it had to be ordered and would arrive the next business day. Before proceeding we received a digital invoice to accept or decline the cost of repair (part $348 / labor $486). The electronic invoice was accepted at the agreed upon price. The following day she returned and dropped off the vehicle. After leaving it was determined that it was the incorrect part. They stated it would be reordered and it would be delivered Friday morning. Friday morning she received a call stating that the wrong part arrived yet again. She was informed the part would be coming from ** directly and it wouldnt arrive until Monday. At this time I called *** and spoke with ***** to get more clarity. ***** stated he called a local ** dealer and they did not have the part so it had to be ordered. At this point I took it upon myself to find a solution and called another local dealer which is only 15 minutes away from this auto shop. The other local dealer had the part in stock and I confirmed it was for the correct side of the vehicle. I called back and spoke to ***** to inform him of this. ***** told me no worries, he would call them and get the part from them so I wouldnt have to. At the time of pickup is where things turned into poor business practice with their manager ***. Due to their supply chain problems I was billed an additional $219 over their original part cost of $348 for a total of $567 (a 63% increase in cost from their invoice and 72% markup from the ** dealer directly). Their explanation was that all businesses mark up parts and thats what it is. They changed the original accepted invoice to offset their supplier or employee ordering the wrong part problems. I never asked for an additional discount given the 2 additional days of missing work, or even the fact that I was the one to solve their supplier problem and find the part locally. I simply expected the price to remain the same as anyone else would on their accepted written invoice. **** response was he applied a 15% new customer discount (which is on their website and was no special accommodation for the poor experience and breach of contract). When I called on Monday and asked to speak with the owner ****, he did not care and stated that they mark up parts as its a business. At no point was anything ever sent in writing for us to accept like we initially were required to do to proceed with the work. **** stated they called my wife on Friday when she was at work and told her this; my wife works in a medical environment in and out of surgery rooms which is why I told ***** to call me back and not her. The point of getting a written estimate is for all parties to agree to as a legal document. This was a clear bait and switch tactic and terrible business practice. Really disappointed with ***. They had a chance to make it right and they made it worse by raising the price by $219 and would not refund it.
