They painted the inside of my home and they did a poor job. I told them the issues and they came back and told me they fixed it and it was worse than before. They also got paint on areas that they shouldn't. Light switches, carpet, book shelf, floors and everywhere. I told them I didn't want them to continue with the job. I told them I wanted them to clean up the mess. They told me they would send a crew out the next day and all the workers left that day. He said he had a solvent that could get the paint off because I am unable to. Now I can't get in contact with them and they have blocked me. My wife and my child can't stay in the house because the electrical outlets are exposed and the conditions are bad in the house. They wrote me back on Facebook yesterday and the owner told me she was throwing up and she was very snippy. I asked for their insurance information and she wouldn't give it to me. My window is covered up and I can't get to it. They damaged areas that they weren't supposed to be in. I paid $875 which was half. They only got 1/3 of the ceiling done. They have 75% of the walls done. The old wall color is still showing through. They still have another coat to put on. They were barely halfway done. They wanted to pay them in full to fix everything and that's not fair.Business response

We were contracted by this individual to paint a two-story foyer and the ceiling of said foyer. This was going to take three, possibly four days to complete due to the unusual size and shape of the foyer. Upon arriving to the site on day two, the client was complaining about every little detail of work stating it was bleeding through and pointing out anything and everything he could see as he was going over a project that was not finished yet with some type of special light. I assured him we were not finished and we would make sure this was addressed. We completed what work we could get done on day two of the project and left our tools there in prep for day three. The evening of day two he calls us complaining that he was not happy with our work, that it was not what he was envisioning. He cancelled the contract. We went the next morning to collect our tools. The work was not completed because the client cancelled the contract and refused to pay for the labor put in so far. We make it our policy that we do not do work on anyone's property without a written and signed contract. We also have a policy that if a client refuses to pay what is owed, work will cease. We were not charging him the total remainder of the contract. We had cut the remaining balance in half on the remaining contract.
The client that same day called about clean up. I told him I would speak with my partner and we would figure something out. The client wasn't giving us time to contact a cleaning company to come in and clean up any mess before he started calling practically every 30 minutes. I contacted two separate cleaning companies and when they were given the address of the client, they refused to do the job stating they had heard the client was difficult to deal with. Even though we have already lost money du7e to labor costs on this contract, we were willing to pay a clean crew to come in and clean what he wanted cleaned, but we cannot find a cleaning crew that will work for this individual.
Had the client let us finish our work instead of cancelling the contract, he would have had the results he desired and any mess from us workin8 would have been cleaned up. I can give you more than 20 satisfied clients we have had In the last six months. This client stated to us when discussing the contract an the day of the estimate that he has trouble getting contractors to come to his house to work. Possibly that should have been a red flag for us. He is extremely difficult to work with and for and we feel he had us gat what he could not reach on the foyer then canceled to contract with us to try to get out of paying the remainder of the contract.
We told him cancelling the contract would leave him responsible forgetting the project completed and would do no further work at his property without a written and signed contract. If he had paid the reduced amount left on the contract for the labor that we put in, we would have went in and cleaned up ourselves. We do not allow our employees for insurance purposes to work at a location without written and signed contracts.
