The night of Wednesday August 24, 2022 I attempted to replace the fill-valve in my toilet, a simple job that I've done before. I was unable to do so because the shut-off valve was broken and the water supply could not be shut-off. I let it go until the morning (August 25) and called Only Once Plumbing Service for assistance. The representative on the phone informed me there would be a $199 service-call fee, OR I could pay $149 and get a membership that would entitle me to 10% off future service calls. I chose the $149 option and charged that to a credit card. When the plumber arrived, he informed me that I would need to replace the supply line as well as the shut-off valve. He quoted a price of $375. Although that seemed high, I agreed. He completed the work, then told me "I'll only charge $100 extra for the shut-off valve." I pointed out that the entire crux of the job was to replace the shut-off valve, and we'd agreed on $375. He said the $375 was just to install the fill-valve (which I provided). Not knowing what else to do, as the work was already completed, I wrote a check, which he made me make out to "J and J Services," which, obviously is not the name of the company. THEN he hands me his personal business card and says "Next time call me directly. The company charges too much. I'd have charged you $250." Given that their OWN representative admitted $475 was too much (actually $624 with the service-fee membership), I would like them to refund all but the $250 THEIR OWN REPRESENTATIVE stated was the fair price. As I'll never be using them again, they can cancel my membership and refund that, as well.
