    Feb 2023: I suffered a medical emergency which resulted in me not being able to return to work full-time. This drastically affected my ability to pay rent; therefore, I had to move with family out-of-state to continue my recovery process. Jun 2023: I provided notice per the terms of my lease, after consulting an attorney to ensure I was within my rights. I cleaned the unit per the terms of the lease. I paid the early termination fee of $350.00, per the terms of the lease. I requested that my security deposit be mailed to me, as I had fulfilled the terms of lease for terminating it, vacating the unit, and paying the early termination fee. I left the unit in rentable condition. July 2023: I did not receive my security deposit back. Instead, I received a letter stating that the landlord had not been able to re-rent the unit and therefore could not provide me an accounting of my security/cleaning deposit.Sept 2023: I received a move-out statement from my landlord stating that I owed rent for July and August, including late fees and that I would not receive my security deposit back at all. I also received notice from ***************** of ***** that he had turned that in to collections. He must have done that the same day he mailed me that statement, as I had no time to respond to his unlawful business practices. Oct 2023: I spoke with an attorney through the ***** ****************** who reviewed all of my documentation and feels that I do not owe any additional monies to Owner's Choice Property Management as I followed the terms of the lease. He informed me how I could proceed, without having to hire representation. I responded to the collection agency and informed them again that I dispute the alleged debt and if sued I would move forward with filing complaints and defending myself. Nov 2023: This unlawful, alleged debt is now on my credit report and is affecting my ability to move forward in life. The collection agency statement is too large to upload.
