To Whom it may concern:
This customer still owes money. She has lied about it and slandered our reputation. She told us she has $1400 to pay, it was $1500. When she came in She only had $1100. We just wanted to be done as she had left the car for weeks .She declined several repairs that were needed originally and also the other repairs that were clearly new problems. Additionally, we warranty only fully paid services. We have recorded all phone calls and all all video. We paid her towing for no charge 2 times both for problems that we did not cause. Additionally ******** sister has threatened my staff and tried to commit extortion which illegal. We are now seeking legal counsel for extortion, libel and slander on both ******* and her sister, the depths of moral degradation and manipulation and ma cob that has come from this client and sister only proves one thing. They are liars. Liars are of course irresponsible and fail to take any culpability to themselves for their problems.
We will not help customers who resort to these actions and refuse to service them. My staff do not deserve to be threatened and berated especially on lies and from irresponsible people.
The facts include the vehicle was not taken care of. Proven by inspection below and communicated to the customer prior to any service work.
The work authorized and the work found in documented vehicle inspections we repaired correctly.
The work not authorized failed. The customer declined the work.
There was another person who messed up the car prior to our servicing the work. That was the cause of her second failure.
The truth is The customer make many bad decisions prior to trying to get help and got in to deep that was over her ability to pay.
This will be the only further communication on this point or this site.
We worked on the car in good faith doing the work that was failed that was provable and authorized. From the beginning ******* has tried to extort and manipulate the shop in not charging full price and doing more work then what was authorized. She still owes $500.00. We paid for 2 tows not related to repairs.

*********************************************************************************
We ask to resolve this by:
1. ******* finding another shop
2. Pulling down the defamation and slander.
3. A gag order to not mention our shop.
If all 3 of these are complied with we may forgo the legal actions.
Of course judgments in these cases can come out of earned income and other assets and follow someone around their employment until paid off. The question is, Can you prove your point?
I can prove everything that has been done in video and audio and by inspection...Every half truth EXPOSED.
Best Regards.

In spite of what they were told on several occasions via phone contact, Mikes Auto Clinic did over $3000.00 worth of work on a car that was worth about $6000.00 since we were preparing to trade that vehicle. They claim their phone calls are recorded but could manage to provide only one recorded conversation, which did not give approval for the extra work. Interestingly enough, numerous other phone conversations in which they were told specifically not to do anything beyond what was needed to get the car back on the road were not recorded. We met with the manager on December 18, 2023, who promised to contact the shop owner about compromising on the cost and then contact us: still no communicatio, even after I called and left a message shortly after the holidays. TO WIT: Double-charged for diagnostics, at almost $200 each; charged almost $100 to replace windshield wipers (I had replaced them this past summer) , $160 to replace three light bulbs, $177 to replace the air filter, $1100 for a transmission flush, $230 to add dye to the oil (to find an oil leak), $350 to change differential fluid, and $208 to repair a supposed problem with the A/C that was repaired at a different shop in August of 2023. Recommended new tires all around, despite the fact that we purchased the tires in June 2022, and they are rated at ****** miles. **** After all that, the car is still not operating as it should. They were told that but have made no effort to make it right.Business Response

Sorry, you are upset and that there was a misunderstanding. Here is Mikes Auto Clinics point of view.
The work was authorized.
It was done.
here was plenty of time between the time the work was authorized and the customer to come pick up the car.
The complaint only arose after the work was completed.
There was absolutely NO DOUBLE CHARGING.
There was 2 separate diagnostics for 2 different issues.
It is on the invoice the customer received. One was for oil light, the other for traction control light. They are 2 separate systems.
This was also authorized.
There was no returning money back because there is no way to go backwards in time and stop work that was already authorized and completed. Who is going to pay for the materials and parts on the car? who is going to pay for the labor?
We have at your own admittance that the work was authorized.
We will NOT apologize for our pricing on work. It takes a lot to operate any business in today's economy especially in The Treasure Valley with prices on homes, vehicles and labor going through the roof let alone finding competent staff to work.
It costs a lot to work on cars, we charge for what we do and it is fair. It is not cheap , we are not Walmart.
Mechanics for far to long have been taken advantage of, despite public opinion. - this is due to not willing or able to understand the car to begin with- or respect for the **** hrs of time and training.
As far as the problem still remaining, that we have no documentation for this. If there is a problem with the work that was done then that is another matter altogether.
However, due to the arm chair warrior who decided to slander my company online about this, (That matter is not over and litigation on the individual will likely follow) and because that person liable and slandered the reputation of the shop under false pretenses from where we can only guess would be you, we will not refund any money, rather we have put the money in our legal fund.
Sometimes, due to the complexities of fixing cars people get or have misunderstood words and concepts, this leads to them getting wrong information from others and then trying blaming mechanics for something they don't have a firm understanding of. We do not do work unauthorized, to accuse us when you know that it wasn't true is a greater crime. Damaging our reputation for it is even larger crime.

I am rejecting this response because:First of all, after spending 20 years as a military officer and a subsequent 14 years as a law enforcement officer in this area, I feel confident I could provide a list of those who would be willing to vouch for my integrity. Nor, am I intimidated by threats, a tactic I note that has been used with others who dared voice their displeasure. Although it is not my wish or intent to take it to that level, Ill be quite happy to oblige.
I can provide phone records of conversations between myself or my wife and Mikes Auto. We said from the very beginning we did not want the extra work done because we were trading in the car! Why would we change our mind? How convenient they have no recorded records of the other phone conversations. There were surrounding circumstances regarding our availability because we were in ******** for a family emergency. They contend the single recorded message on the 22nd of November was authorization to do the entire project. When I went to pick up the car, (the same day they called and said it was done) and saw the invoice, I asked the employee to whom I had talked several times on the phone, What did you not understand when I told you battery and transmission only? After asking several times, he said, The work was already done. So, my question would therefore be: When was the work done? That phone conversation took place on Wednesday the 22nd, in the late afternoon. I was told that it would be after the Thanksgiving weekend before they could get to work on the car. On that following Monday, the 27th, my wife, who was on her way to ******** because her father had passed, called Mikes Auto first thing in the morning and told the employee several times to fix only the transmission. He claimed that he had talked to me, and that I had approved the extra work. My wife told him, I dont care! I want only the transmission fixed! After speaking with my wife, said employee immediately called me and left a message, asking me to return his call. I told my wife that he had done so, and she told me what she had told him: no extra work! The following day, Tuesday the 28th, I returned his call. He said he could tell my wife was upset and that she wanted just the transmission done. However, he stated, he felt the battery was a part, if not the ******** of the problem, So, I agreed to replace the battery and then said several times, Just the battery and the transmission! Are we good? He said we were good, So, if as he said on the day I went to get the vehicle that the work was already done when we spoke on the phone, then why he didnt say that to my wife or me? And, again, when was the work done? They were closed from the 23rd to the 27th, and my wife called them the first thing that morning of the 27th. In no way am I trying to avoid the part of the bill that we authorized and told the manager that. However, the promise of a phone call never materialized, a phone call from me was never returned, and no follow-up was even attempted after my wife told one of the employees who had called the day after we met with the manager that the problem for which we had taken the car in there seemed to be happening again. He said he would have someone callwe are still waiting,
By the way, the information regarding the two charges for the diagnostics came from a mechanic in another shop. If this were an isolated incident with this establishment, that would be one thing. However, all one has to do is get on this very website and read the other complaints. Additionally, their rating is C-; its not difficult to see why. (Note: We found the engine cover in the back of the car and replaced it). In almost every conversation my wife and I had with the employee with whom we dealt, he tried his best to convince us not to trade in the car. He kept telling us that it was worth the money to do all the work and keep the car. Both of us had determined we were not going to be dissuaded from our decision, no matter how much pressure we were getting. Their process indicates that if the customer has a problem, the issue is to go through arbitration. Obviously, the way around arbitration is to avoid communicating at all.
Sincerely,
