My wife and I contracted with Central Stone and Tile (CST) to fabricate and install new quartz countertops in our kitchen. Soon after installation, we noticed problems and emailed CST about marks on the countertops, including two square marks where stickers had been removed by the installer and an abrasion on the countertop. We're positive the abrasion occurred when CST installed and then removed a 9 1/2 ft slab from our house to grind down an edge to make it fit an adjacent countertop slab. Close-up photos of the abrasion, which I shared with CST, shows a 1/8 wide by 1 long abrasion that was clearly caused by a grinder disc pad touching the countertop. The abrasion is directly adjacent to the edge where the installer was grinding the quartz. Eventually, CST removed two countertop sections to grind off edges to get two slabs close enough to join a seam. What was supposed to be a 23-hour installation took 7 1/2 hours to complete. Also, final countertop measurements don't match approved template dimensions. CSTs response from the Operations Manager, was a beratement of the homeowner and an insinuation we were somehow responsible for this abrasion. She refused to address the problem and stated we will not be returning to your house, again. After installation, CST took photos claiming they show no abrasion or other marks. However, only closeup pictures in lit conditions of the areas in question would show the problems we identified. Apparently, unless problems are found and identified at time of installation, CST disavows responsibility for finishing problems. CST has not honored their one-year labor warranty and failed to provide the manufacturers 25-year quartz countertop warranty. CST's labor warranty is nothing *********************. No matter how CST spins it, they were responsible for fabricating and installing the countertops, not the customer. CSTs substandard quality control, neglectful attention to detail, and lack of customer service is unacceptable.

I hired Gerber Construction to remodel my bathroom and after picking out Granite at ******************* and paying for it my contractor told me his granite fabricator - Central Stone and Tile - would not use their granite as it was inferior. I then went over to Central Stone's yard and picked out a slab that was certainly not my original choice or even close as they had so few choices (black or white). When it came time to install they guaranteed me they would fabricate the seam in the counter and backsplash so it was not noticeable. I even showed them the bad seam in my kitchen counter and they ABSOLUTELY guaranteed their seam would be perfect. When the time came to install the counter turned out great but the backsplash was nothing short of a novice job. The corners of the backsplash did not match up with the seam in the counter and had a huge notch in it (from a bad cut) that they said would not be noticeable once filled with grout. Wish I could show you the pictures because it was terrible. When I asked my contractor to get the issue straightened out he told me Central Stone would not fix it saying they thought it was fine. He even told me to call the manager at Central Stone. With one of ********************* construction workers standing in my bathroom with me I called - phone was on speaker phone - and the manager told me "Honey, that is industry standard so we are not going to fix anything." When I asked him about customer satisfaction and the customer who pays the bill having the say in the work he said - "you are not my customer - ******************* is so I do not have to make you happy". Yes he literally said this! I have witnesses and a recorded conversation. Central stone then proceeded to send me a registered letter invoice for the balance of the work and threatened to take me (not the customer remember) to court!!!!! HOW DO THEY STAY IN BUSINESS?????? Do not use this company as they do not know the meaning of customer service. They were rude, did a terrible job.

This is a perfect example of someone that clearly doesn't understand how construction works. The backsplash of which she is referring to at the corner seam was LESS then 1/8th of an inch off. The end of the back splash where it meets with the counter top had a nice clean rolled finish. Which is how backsplash of stone should be placed. The material used Blue Dunes is a granite with a lot of movement. ******'s expectation of what she's thinks should be done and her lack of experience in the construction remodel world is something to be desired. ****** being unhappy about her kitchen (of which we did not do) clearly rolled right into her misbeliefs of how the bathroom needed to look. ****** being unhappy about what happened in her kitchen should not be taken out on CST. ****** is our customer this is true, but he informed us that she wasn't paying him so he couldn't pay us. ******************* also told us to contact the customer directly to try and collect. ****** was not answering any of his calls, nor ours and ******************* also mentioned he had not received his final payments from her for the rest of the job he had done. Sounds like ****** likes playing the game with businesses and wants something for free!We attempted every means necessary to collect what's due to us prior to sending certified letters. At this point we have turned them over for collections. We take care of our customers, and we expect to get paid. For someone to hold payment of over $1,000 for a backsplash issue that wasn't really an issue is unacceptable to say the least.
