My husband and I purchased a used 2007 ***** mini van for $5,600 from Boise ******** and we were given a carfax guarantee that it was mechanically sound with no issues. We had it for 4 weeks and 6 days and the engine blew up on the interstate we had kept the fluids full and so we called Boise ******** and were told that it was our fault and that there was no previous damage but there was a mechanic camped and the same place we were and he looked it over for us free of charge and he said there was no way that they didnt know about the damage so I called again and they threatened court and blocked my number I just want part of my money back for buying that lemonBusiness Response

Wed like to address the concerns youve raised and clarify a few important points.
First, Boise Auto Group did not threaten legal action that statement came from you. After your legal threat, we made it clear that any further communication would need to go through your attorney. We remain open to discussing the matter through the appropriate legal channels.
The 2007 ***** minivan you purchased was inspected by our shop before being listed. Your husband, who appeared to be mechanically inclined, looked over the vehicle thoroughly, and both of you took it on a long test drive. You mentioned it drove great, and then drove it over four hours back home without any issues a drive that would typically reveal any serious mechanical problems if they were present at the time of sale.
The vehicle was purchased in March, and the engine failure occurred nearly five weeks later. A lot can happen in that amount of time that is completely outside of our control. We also want to point out that we have no knowledge of what damage occurred and no understanding of how the mechanic you spoke to could determine with certainty that we knew the engine was going to fail weeks after the sale. That kind of claim is speculative at best.
At Boise Auto Group, we take pride in offering quality vehicles and maintaining honest communication. All our vehicles are inspected before sale, and we provide Carfax reports as a courtesy so our customers can make informed decisions. While our vehicles are sold as-is due to their age and mileage, we stand by their condition at the time of sale and never intend to mislead anyone.
If you still wish to pursue this matter, we are open to speaking directly with your legal representative.

**** was very disrespectful when my husband had called them back to ask some questions about what they did. **** put it back to stock and said we were harassing them when we wanted to know what they did to the vehicle. He was not delightful to talk too, and frankly I dont want to talk to him. He said it was no money out of our pocket, but were still paying on the vehicle. We just wanted to know what the Delete was and he only did a software delete so it didnt fix the issue. Than he put it back to stock. This business should not be disrespectful to anyone because they have no idea where the anger is from. They should be shut down.Business Response

9/18/2022 my 16 year old daughter purchased a 2010 VW Tiguan from Boise Auto Group on *************** for $11,485.64 We were told the car had been through an inspection and was in good working order. Wishing a week we started detecting a leak of antifreeze and oil. I called the dealer and they declined any help for fixing the car. I explained my case and the lady told me the owner/manager would call me back. He never did. I sought to have the leak corrected and spent over $1500 to get it fixed. ***** Import Auto who works only with and specializes in later model VWs fixed the issue at hand but noted (with pictures) how parts of the intake and valves were literally fixed with bailing wire and hidden from a buyer like me. I can own my mistake here by being too trusting and not taking it to a mechanic to inspect it. However , today I had to replace all the tires on the vehicle because they were not rated for the load of the car and blew out. So this has put my daughter in a dangerous situation. Im concerned that this dealer may be cutting too many corners in an attempt to make more profit and could be putting my family and others in danger. I am seeking compensation for the repairs and the cost of the tires, some form of compensation or the dealer should consider taking the car back and refunding me and selling it.Business Response

Dear customer,
We are so sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you. Unfortunately we weren't aware of this matter until now. The lady you are referring to, its been a while that she has not been with us and maybe that's where the missed communications happened. If we had known we would of definitely looked at the issues that you are referring to! every vehicle goes through an inspection and we make sure there are no leaks and no issues before its offered for sale but on the other hand its a used vehicle and there are things that we would not be able to foresee. As far as tires I'm pretty sure when you previewed and test drove the vehicle, tires was the first thing you looked at as 99% of our customers do. As far as them not being the propriate tires, those are the size of the tires the wheels call for i don't imagen you can make any other tire size fit on those wheels.
Again i do apologize for the inconvenience it caused you but unfortunately we wont be able to issue any refunds or by take the car back and re-sell it to someone else as you proposed.

I am rejecting this response because:In good faith we were told it went through an inspection but I got it home and immediately had leaks of oil and coolant. I had to take it to a VW dealer and spend another $1500 to get the car working properly. It's entirely impossible for the dealer to say that this car had been inspected and worked on. When buying a used car you do take a risk but buying from a dealer like this one is supposed to reduce that risk. Evidently they did whatever they could to make this car look like it was working well but avoided actually spending the money to fix properly. See how turbo injector was held together with baling wire instead of the proper attachment. See images. As far as your comments about the tires I can tell that they were in good shape but they are not up to code for the load that they had to carry. Discount Tire has put it in writing for me when I went in to get the two deflated tires fixed. They cited this as a hazard to the driver and other drivers as they were not the correct size rating or load rating. This presented a huge safety risk for a young driver and is grounds for negligence. I had to replace all four tires another $600 dollars to get the right and safe tires on this vehicle. I am shocked that your company can stay in business like this and I'm shocked that your manager and owner didn't respond to me when I told them about the problems right after we purchased the car. I stand by my initial request for you to reimburse me for my costs or buy the car back for what I paid.At least now you can sell it knowing is safe and has been worked on by a proper mechanic.
Sincerely,

Dear customer,
I really believe if you had a leak as soon as you got home you would of reached out in the second you noticed the leak. I do understand buyers changing their mind after the purchase for whatever reason but what I don't understand is after spending the money towards the vehicle to make it "safe and sound" you still want to return it! Like I mentioned on the previous replies I wish we were given hands up right when it happened and we would of definitely take care of the issues you claiming it had. The tire issue really doesn't make sense to us since they were the tires that the vehicle calls for.

I am rejecting this response because: I did reach out immediately and your manager said she would talk to the owner and get back to me which never happened. And you are also choosing not to address the unsafe tires you were willing to sell me a car with. I do wish a dealer like you would take responsibility for your product and owning that. How do you also respond to pieces of the car held together with Baling wire? I will for sure never do business with you and anyone I know will hear about this story and your unwillingness to make it right or address the issue. I will also be reviewing you online so that others will have the chance not to have the same bad experience I have had.
Sincerely,
