I had an interview with **** ***** on Tuesday May 6th. **** communicated that she liked my resume, felt I was a strong interviewee, and told me to process the job offer. **** asked me to remove my face piercings, asked my age, discussed politics, and suggested that I wear make up to look older. Obviously none of these things are a requirement to work for the company, this is all her personal preference to appease to what she described as "conservative clients." I advocated for myself, made it clear that my career as a mental health student is my top priority, and mentioned that although I was not willing to remove my piercings I could use smaller piercings that were less distracting. I called to accept the job offer on Wednesday May 7th. **** then claimed she had concerns with my resume. I shared that I was forced to leave a previous employer because of a lawsuit that was public knowledge that could affect my career as a mental health professional in the future. **** laughed and asked if I was involved with the lawsuit. I didn't seem like I was being taken seriously. The trainer called me the same day to schedule training for two hours the following day outside the time I said I was available. An opportunity to begin practicum and internships was presented to me on short notice. The interview was scheduled around the same time as training. I called the office to see if training could be rescheduled as **** claimed that training wouldn't start until the following week. The receptionist transferred me to ****. The phone conversation with her was very unprofessional, negative, and confrontational. **** claimed I was arguing with her as I was advocating for myself. She demanded to know how long the interview would be along with other information she did not have the right to know. Shortly after the phone call I sent an email declining the job offer. I propose that this company and the owner be investigated to determine whether or not **** is still fit to be the owner.
