DO NOT HIRE. Projects are unsupervised other than by property owner and there were multiple corrections, They did not listen to plan and the actual workers did not know the plan so would start the project in reverse order. it appeared as if they accepted/bid jobs they had never done before. The finale was that instead of filling in a trench with top soil and grading away from foundation and covering with fabric then river rock, they left grade toward foundation a level below frost line and then covered with 8 inches of river rock to make up for deficiencies. Instead of correcting they covered with more river rock. They placed river rock without weed barrier. Much of the plant materials they provided for the job were in very poor condition like left over end of season, we actually refused to allow them to plant trees and had them remove them from our property, one they were in poor condition and second they handled them without care. Instead of grading and leveling and placing a single stepping stone within our river rock bed they broke up the stone and then filled with loose pea gravel in a high traffic area, the broken up stone is unlevel as the ground was not properly graded and edging left unlevel as result of same. Trenching of down spout was not to down spout area or close enough to attach to downspout. so they rigged multiple pieces then taped them suspended to downspout and they had to be redirected to proper placement. This project started July 28th with a 5-7 day projection. They left us with this grading problem as they finished on 9/21/21. I would have paid triple the amount to have competent services without attitude and that didn't require 100% of my supervision leaving high level frustration.

    Judith,

While we do understand your frustration, we also left very frustrated with this project. In a year where finding extra hands is almost impossible, both of our crew members contracted sicknesses following the first couple days of work that slowed this down by nearly a week. On top of this multiple materials were subject to delays outside of our control. Supply chains have been very distributed by COVID making some materials a headache to get.

We do not feel some of the statements made are accurate. Our landscape foreman has many years of experience and has done this type of work several times before. Most of the issues arose from the countless amount of changes made by yourself. Prior to the project the owner spent multiple hours laying everything out and marking locations. Come time for the project almost everything got changed multiple times. Many changes were submitted to us such as, out of the blue asking us to bury a home-rigged irrigation system. Although we would have preferred not to do this, we didn't have much of a choice or else our other work could not carry on. When it came time to install boulders, the shape/size/color of each rock had to be sorted through greatly increasing install time. The trees we brought were not perfect, most are not, but were rejected by yourself. We returned them to our vendor which they also agreed with us that while not perfect, they were in a healthy condition.

The drain tiles were able to be hooked up to the downspouts, but were asked to move 2" over, which we did. The lines going out into the yard were asked to be moved 2 times, which didn't need to be moved from the initial location, however we did so without resistance. The backfill along the foundation was done by yourself due to the irrigation system leaking. We then added on top and the crew confirmed with your husband that it was okay to cover with barrier and rock, which he agreed it was at the right grade. The stone was not apart of our contract, never billed for, and we even provided a discount from the original amount for this not being accepted by the customer.

While we know we didn't perform everything to perfection due to many factors, we also feel that a majority of the complaint comes back the captious homeowner who had a change or complaint to everything we did.

The only changes made were to trench the water lines. There was no supervision on this job other than myself. proper grading around a house foundation is crucial as it is the first line of defense against water your filling with rock to cover inadequate poor grading that was left sloping towards our foundation opposed to properly filling with top soil and grading away from the foundation, is not a new concept or change and is detrimental to proper water control; failure to install proper length of drainage tile to adequately connect a downspout also is not a new concept or change; planting a 35ft tree close to a foundation is not an appropriate or common practice. attempting to provide unhealthy plant materials does not build confidence. Not listening to the requests of the homeowner creates chaos as does the lack of a clear plan to crew and onsight supervision. Thank you for your feedback
