    Business Response

    Date: 09/07/2025

I was there to trim her landscaping, she wanted to make sure they were trimmed so they didn't rub against her house.  In order to trim them away from the house, you will see ***** spots, the branches, because they were overgrown, there is no way to get around it.  That is what happens when you cut them in the summer when they are green. Then I asked her about getting the weeds out of the driveway because they were overgrown too and she said yes. They were so bad and overgrown, that I ran out of string in my weed trimmer. The battery on my **** trimmer was also dead. So I went up to her door to let her know I was leaving, I tried to open the screen door to knock, but the screen door was locked. She didn't hear my knock on the screen door because she didn't respond to my knock. I was planning on returning the following day to finish the job because I knew it wasn't done.

I was on my way back to her house when she called me to ask if I was returning to finish the job. She said I didn't do a very good job, and I said I wasn't done.  When I got there, I went inside and we sat down and discussed the job, I thought everything was fine. Then I said I am going to go through your garage to get to the driveway which is in the front yard.  Then she said why don't I use her trimmer because it was a really good one.  I figured she thought mine wasn't good enough, so I agreed to use hers to make her happy.  The first day I used all my own equipment.

Her problem is her evergreen bushes are way overgrown, they needed to be trimmed 3 years ago, and then trimmed annually after that.  The proper way to trim evergreen bushes is in the fall, cut them down to the proper size every year, then they will look good in the spring and then you won't have ***** spots where you can see the branches because all the greenery has been cut away.

When I was finished with the job, I gave her the invoice, she paid me, and I thought she was happy with the job. I was very surprised when I got this complaint (I received it on August 29th as I was leaving for a week vacation which is why I wasn't able to respond timely. )  The charges were for labor, and for hauling brush to the landfill.  I did the job, got paid, and thought she was very happy when I left.   If she wasn't happy I figured she would have said something and not paid the bill, or discussed it.
