This facility treated my father so badly in the rehab unit that he chose to stop eating or taking medicine so he could be transferred to hospice rather than spend another night in their treatment. While he was suffering great difficulty sleeping and night delusions, one of the night nurses got in a shouting match with my father, eventually screaming "I hate you too" at my father. The incident was confirmed by Edgewater, but there was no apparent discipline to the nurse, as she was back "assisting" my father the following night. But that's not my issue. The real issue is that Edgewater has refused to refund the $508,000 it owes my mother's estate under the Residency Agreement. This appears to be a black and white contractual matter, and the Agreement appears to be crystal clear that the payment is late and that Edgewater is in breach of its own contract. Yet, no one at Edgewater will tell us why there has been no refund or when we might expect the overdue refund. If they were to do this with every refund, at each of their eight facilities, they could potentially be cheating the decedents' families out of tens of thousands of dollars in interest every month that the refunds are late.
