My husband was at Downey Tire yesterday, he went in with a slow leak to be repaired. He waited 3 hours for the repair. They checked for a leak and put a tire iron diameter size pick through the hole. They attempted to repair the tire; the hole was now too large for a plug to be used. They attempted to patch the tire and it wouldn’t hold as the size of the hole was not too large for the patch as well. It took 8 hours for the tire to go down 20 psi. They told him he now needed to purchase a new tire. He left with the tire and he put the spare on his truck. This is not the first time they have done this to him. This is a heck of a way to increase revenue and sell tires. The tire was relatively new as it was purchased in Nov 22. Yes, now we do have to purchase a new tire as the damage done at the time of repair ruined the tire. He did acknowledge that he ”drives a lot of gravel”, the attendant told him “None of his customers run gravel roads all of them do”. I am just asking you to make your own decision about patronizing this company. I am disgusted at the blatant damage done to the tire. Then the condescending attitude of the sales associate.
