Consumers are first contacted by a company called Platinum Management Solutions from Denver, CO. The company tells the consumer that they have a corporate buyer from Mexico who wishes to purchase their timeshare.
In the next phase, the consumer is contacted by North South Title, representing themselves as the escrow agent for processing funds and title work.
Lastly, consumers are instructed to wire a 10% processing fee to a Bank in Mexico.
Once money is wired, the company ceases contact. Consumers who have wired funds are out thousands of dollars and still stuck with their timeshare.
The company's website states they are located at 268 West 2nd St. in Davenport, Iowa. The BBB has confirmed that the address does not exist. When the BBB questioned the company about their location, the company gave another location in a neighboring building. The BBB went to the alleged location and confirmed that this too was a false address.
The BBB warns consumers to never wire money as a method of payment. The action is irretrievable and is always the tell-tale sign of a scam.
