Better Business Bureau had received an anonymous tip alleging Sacred Aloha Babe was soliciting donations to help victims of the Lahaina, Maui fires but not all donations received were going to the victims. On September 1, 2023, BBB contacted Sacred Aloha Babe concerning advertising claims found on its Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/sacredalohababe soliciting donations for the victims of the Lahaina, Maui fires. Specifically, Sacred Aloha Babe claims, "All donations- every single penny- went straight to the victims during this indescribable time," and “ALL PROCEEDS + ITEMS WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE VICTIMS. WE DO NOT KEEP A SINGLE PENNY AND/OR ITEMS. THE VICTIMS APPRECIATE YOUR HELP VERY MUCH.” Sacred Aloha Babe has not provided BBB with details of the amount of donations received or where the money was donated.
According to Section One of BBB’s Code of Advertising, advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request.
Despite written requests, as of September 26, 2023, Sacred Aloha Babe has not responded to BBB’s request for information.
