      HAWTEL customer service has decreased over the last 3 years while increasing my rates for cable, internet and home phone service. I was paying for 1 GB of internet service, but using the HAWTEL web page to test my down load speed, I was only downloading at 357 MB. I called customer service to determine the cause after resetting all my equipment and receiving 357 MB download speed again. I informed customer service of this and she asked to reset my equipment again. I then noticed on the Speed Test web page that I was connected to server in *************, **. When I informed customer service of this, she said I was on the wrong Speed Test web page. She then proceeded to tell me the correct web page address and it was the exact one I was on. She continued to agrue with me. Due to the lack of customer service above, I switched over to Spectrum effective 1 Mar 2024 and notified HAWTEL to close my account effective 1 Mar 2024. I then proceeded to return all HAWTEL equipment to their office in ******* on 4 Mar 2024. I then discuss. I then called messaged HAWTEL about my final charges as they bill from the 25th of each month so I owned for the 25th of Feb thru 1 Mar. They quoted me a remaining bill of $31.74 for those 5 days. I then wrote a check for that amount and mailed it to HAWTEL. On 27 March, I receive a bill from HAWTEL (covering the period 03/25/2024 - 04/24/2024) for $239.74. I then called HAWTEL again. Customer service said they would mail me a check for $239.74 as a refund on the bill for 03/25/2024 - 04/24/2024. As of today, 9 April, I have not received a refund check. I just called HAWTEL customer service again today ******** and again reached an individual who was not friend. I asked about the last billed which showed a credit of $231.03 not the full amount of $239.74. He stated that the difference was a service fee of $8.71 and that I could expect a refund within the next 4 to 6 weeks. This totally unsatisfactory.

      Hawaiian Telcom contacted the reviewer to apologize for his experience and, to resolve the complaint to his satisfaction, on April 11, 2024, a credit card reversal for a payment he made on March 15, 2024, was processed to eliminate processing and mailing time for a refund check.       I was never hooked up but they keep charging me. They ran a line to my house but were waiting for my phone number to switch over to them before connecting to my router. This router belongs to me. I have called them 7 times and every time they tell me they have reversed all charges but I continue to get bills for service. The latest bill is for $409.14. Every time I call its at least 20 minutes on the phon ending with them saying the bill is in error and it will be credited and I wont get ant more bills. Now theyre saying they cant do anything until they confirm that I dont have any of their equipment. I have never had any of their equipment. Worst company Ive ever dealt with.

      For a communications company, Hawaiian Telcom surely lacks that trait. I had an installation scheduled in November and no one showed up. I took from work just to sit at home and wait for nothing. Called back to reschedule for a Saturday appointment on Jan 6tth. On Jan 3rd, I called back to reschedule again because I got scheduled to work on Jan 6th. Low and behold, installer still showed up. Told him I called on Wednesday and rescheduled installation for the wed 1/24 because I had to work. Fast forward to today, installation is never going to happen. Called customer service ti confirm appointment for today and they inform no appointment is scheduled for today. I give up and will just stick with Spectrum.

      HAWAIIAN TELEPHONE HAS THE WORST SERVICE, I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT MY TV SERVICE FREEZING AND BEING UNABLE TO WATCH FOR THE PAST 2-3 MONTHS. I HAVE YET TO HAVE SOMEONE CALL ME TO FIX IT OR TO SERVICE ME AND THEY **** THE ISSUE RESOLVED IN MY ACCOUNT. THIS IS HORRIBLE. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR REPUTATION OR THE SERVICE THEY PROVIDE.NOTHING HS WORKED WHATSOEVER WITH THEM.

      After notifying Hawaiian tel Com. I wish to disconnect & requested a return label that never arrived I got billed for services I ever used!! If this matter is not cleared to my satisfaction I will never be a Hawaiian tel customer ever again & will advise friends and family to do the same!!

      These people installed internet in my house, the WiFi wouldnt reach the other end of the house, so they wanted to charge me extra every month for a WiFi extender. Trash business even spectrum had better service and they are not great either

      In December 2022, I found out that my bill had gone up, and my automatic bill pay was no longer working due to the change in bill amount. Because of this, my account had been suspended. When I called trying to pay my bill they said they need me to pay for the suspension as well as re-hookup and late charges. I was not happy about this so I said I wanted to cancel, but of course I still had to pay the suspension fees, late fees, and re-hook up charge before I could cancel. Finally, in January I thought I was all set and got set up with Spectrum, only to find out last month that they have been billing me all along and now I supposedly owe them over $400 for service I have not been getting when the customer service agent said I was all set with my cancelation. You have to call back after they reinstall your service to cancel, making it extra difficult. Perhaps I did not talk to the correct person when I called back? The customer service representative assured me everything was taken care of! ***** clear of this company.

      Hawaiian Telcom reached out to me after I filed this complaint and explained cancelled all the charges on my account. I am pleased with the outcome. They explained that somehow inadvertently I or they had made a duplicate account, and that I had cancelled the other account and agreed I was being charged accidentally. My only comment is that it is too bad that it takes a complaint like this in order to get to the bottom of the charges. Luckily for me, someone does get these complaints and researches them.

      I fell for the Fioptics internet promo with ****************************************** So it was ok for about 3 days and the internet and cell phone went down and I called customer support and technical support and they gave me a date when techs would come out but it was a week after my promo date expired so I decided to go to spectrum. I hooked up with Spectrum a few days before the Hawaiian tel people came to fix my internet. I gave the techs my equipment and they said they would take care of it. Next comes my bill for services and i called customer to explain that I cancelled before the promo ended and they said I cancelled after the promo ended and I needed to pay for that hook up and service that I didn't have. Fast forward to now and my bill is over $400 dollars and talking to them goes no where. They don't have any tech support or anyone to talk to except the billing department keeps on sending the bills for service I don't have. Spectrum has been great .

      This is not a professional outfit. Sorry, not sorry. They got me to try the new "fiber", internet by offering me a price that was too good to say no to along with incredible speeds. The problem is that the connection is only fiber between your house and the local data node. If you're wondering what this means, its means ****** Telcom is a scam ISP. The connection goes out constantly and they gaslight their customers. They run all these social media accounts where they pretend to be involved in the community in order to launder their reputation, but these people will plan 12 hour outage without telling anyone. I'm paying for the highest speed connection possible for my business. I need connectivity. This company, is literally run my psychopaths. I've taught English in desolate third world countries and they all provide better internet than Hawaii Telecom. "Fiber", is a meaningless buzzword if your internet doesn't work. I switched to spectrum and its so nice... my lord its so nice. I can play games without latency and my connection never goes out.

      While attempting to setup service, I made approximately 7 phone calls with technicians and was left with no follow up. I sent an email directly to their help desk with confirmation to respond in 2 business days and it has been over a week with no response. I chatted with a technician on the website chat, they give me an account number, order number, and scheduled date for a technician for install. No technician showed up and when I called back, they say I don't have an account. I've had my time excessively wasted and it has needlessly delayed critical ***************** I pay for the service regardless of usage as I'm part of a condominium contract. There is a conflict of interest when they can save money by delaying my ***************** Upon inquiring about all these incidents, HT believes it because technicians are failing to complete their work. I think this issue is from a greater problem. When they don't have a simple ticketing system to track customer interactions (which I specifically asked for some kind of receipt), the problem is an executive level disorganization and incompetence.
