Dec. 15, 2024 I paid a Mobile Mechanic $650 to do some work on my 2008 Honda Odyssey, I was experiencing smoking due to oil leaking onto manifold, power steering pump causing loud whining and whistling. The power steering remained the same, even louder, he replied it may have been a faulty pump he put in, and said he ordered a new one that he would replace it with.
He think stated it was probably the alternator and suggest I buy an alternator and serpentine belt, which I did, $115. I received the parts and I could never get him to come back and finish the job. Often a “no show” after he’d tell me over and over and over he would be over. Over two months now, so I hired a different mechanic to put the alternator in. This new mechanic said he really didn’t think it was the alternator as you could hear the noise and whining coming from the PS pump, but I had him put the alternator in anyway, just to eliminate that being the issue. Matt’s Mobile refuses to accept that it is the PS pump, and implied I was lying about putting a new alternator in.
The invoice/receipt he drew up for me for the $650 I paid, lists what he did and the parts he put in, but no itemized prices for the parts. I am beginning to doubt he even changed out the old PS pump, or did not put a new one in. I am spending another $250 for a new PS pump plus paying labor to have the new mechanic to install it.
I want Matt’s Mobile to bring me the new pump he says he had, or reimburse me for the one he charged me with.
