On 2 March 2021 he came out to begin work. The initial assessment was that the problem was related to the drain field and further digging was required to ascertain if there was a blockage/damage to 1 or more of the four offshoots of the field. He told me that if the fourth offshoot was dry, as an example, it would show there was an issue higher up the line. However, when he began his exploratory digging he began at offshoot #1 (which was wet) and worked his way down the line. Doing it this way thereby increased the amount of digging/damage/cost rather than start at #4 (which was wet) and be finished there, knowing there was no blockage.
Mr. ******* then explained to me that he felt that the drain field was nearing its saturation lifespan and I would continue to have issues, especially during wet months when the ground itself was already wet. He told me that I basically had three options. First, I could pump the tank and leave the drain field as it was and hope it was okay when the weather dried some. Second, I could have him install a completely new drain field. Third, I could have him dig an 'overflow' pit to handle any back up the drain field could not dissipate. I chose for him to dig and gravel the overflow pit which he said could extend the lifespan of the system up to 20 years.
By the end of the day on 3 March 2021, the overflow had been completed and covered. Left unfinished was about half a truckload of extra gravel he said he would relocate for me, as well as any general cleanup of topsoil and smoothing that is generally done as part of this work. Basically, between the initial dig of the tank, the uncovering of the whole drain field, and the addition of the overflow pit, my entire side yard has been torn up and left a complete mess. Since it was late in the day, he told me he would be back the following day, 4 March 2021, to finish the cleanup. The following day, Mr. ******* contacted me to say he would have to push the cleanup to 5 March 2021. He did however, send an employee to my home to pick up payment in full for the work.
Mr. ******* has not been back since, nor have any of his employees/associates. In the ensuing weeks, I was promised completion of the work at least 4 different times only to have no one show up on the day promised. After that time, from about the beginning of April 2021 to the present time, I have not even been able to speak with Mr. ******** I have attempted to call him a minimum of three times a week, sometimes three times a day, only to have my calls unanswered. He also has not replied to my voicemails or text messages. Finally on 15 May 2021 after numerous attempted phone calls to Mr. ******** an associate of his called me and proceeded to promise finalization of this project that day. No one ever showed up then either.
It has gotten to the point that, poor business practices and customer service aside, I have serious concerns about the quality of work performed by someone who has this poor business values. In addition, as I reviewed the invoice provided to me upon payment, I finally noticed that the work described as being done states 'pump tank and service', neither of which was done by Mr. ******** I do not know why the invoice would state that which also makes me question Mr. ********** business ethics.
