My husband and I hired a contractor ***********************, ********************** for an outdoor project April of this year and to date the project hasn't started. He came out to our home Sunday April 29th and took measurements, spoke to us about the work and approximately how long it would take. We received a text listing the cost of materials required which was $4742.90. The total included materials, labor and sales tax on materials. He requested a deposit of $2500 which was paid through Cash App. Installation was guaranteed 30 days from date (barring any weather issues) the deposit was paid. He received payment May 2. We waited for a week or so to contact him thinking it would take that long for him to get the materials etc, this is when the excuses started, supplier didn't provide remote, issue with kids being sick, he had been admitted to the VA ******** for issues, problems getting building permit etc. We received a text Tuesday July 11 stating he was shooting for July 19th to have the project completed and offered us $250 off the balance for the delay. I sent a text July 18 to confirm we were still on for the 19th. Several attempts was made to contact him and then I receive a text from his wife stating he was in the VA hospital, this was on July 27. On July 31 I sent a text wanting to know if we could pick up the materials and asked if we owed for anything else. I was told the materials could be picked up Monday August 7th. Then on August 7th I receive a text stating he had filed for bankruptcy because of his injuries and the *** AFTRA strike. Pickups and deliveries were put on hold and everyone has been put on the list to the trustee and will be notified when pickups will be allowed. All I want from him at this point is to return the $2500. I found out recently ********************** was dissolved. The new name is Big D's Discounts ********************************************* and he's moved from his former location at ************************************************************** to ***************************************************************************************.
