On April 3, 2025, I spoke with a representative, ***** ******, from the firm who offered me three settlement options for my debt:Pay $4,276 in full, and the debt will be removed from my credit ********** $3,481, and the debt will be removed from my credit ********** $2,108, and the debt will remain on my credit report. When I requested written confirmation of these settlement options, the representative refused to provide any written documentation and insisted that the terms would remain only verbal. Furthermore, when I asked for an email contact to receive these details in writing, the representative refused to provide me with any form of written communication.I am concerned because without written confirmation of the settlement terms, I have no guarantee that the firm will honor their verbal agreement. This situation is unacceptable, as it leaves me vulnerable to potential future disputes regarding the terms of the settlement, especially when it involves changes to my credit report. This behavior is unprofessional and raises serious concerns about the firms business practices. I request that the Better Business Bureau investigate this issue and take appropriate action to ensure that Brett M. Borland P.C. provides written documentation of any settlement offers and adheres to standard practices when dealing with consumers.Business Response

I contacted the company on 3/17/2025 after seeing that they were on my credit report as a debt I owed. I advise them that I have proof from court that the debt is invalid because the company lost in court and I have a sign document from the courts showing that their case was dismissed for any monetary value. The person I spoke with proceeds to tell me that they work for the client. Even though what their client is doing is illegal. So because they cant go after me in court they decided to place it on my credit. This is a joke and I have to wait for yall to do an investigation when I sent yall the court documents stating it. I understand there is a job you have to but if im showing proof it should be pulled until the investigation is over.Business Response

Hello good morning Ive received the bills and documents from dry brook apartments and I am appalled at the lies they are claiming . They are lying saying I owe them rent when in court we sign an agreement that I kept Oct nov Dec rent they lied saying I trashed the apartment when I have video of the apartment and how I left it . They also claimed they had to spend 500 on bed bug treatment when I never in my life had bed bugs . They are being very malicious and this is an injustice . Please guide me and help me as they are lying . Please request the work order I sent in to fix the kitchen cabinet a year prior to me leaving that they never came and fixed also the living room fan that they stated was broke beyond repair when I put in a work order from 2023 to get that fixed because I moved in with it broken . Also they are charging me for carpet replacement when they are supposed to to replace the carpet everytime a new resident moved in . This is outrageous they stated I left 10 larg bags full of trash . I have video that I didnt . I left a few things around but not 10 bags full . They are charging me for painting when they are supposed to to repaint the unit when someone leavesInitial Complaint

Not sure why I am still getting contacted by this office? One thing that I thought was really weird, they called my 2nd job in 2022 to ask me a few questions about the debt. I started working this job after I got my first letter with them. They never called my cell or primary job that I have been at for 6 years. That was the first red flag. Second red flag: The staff are very rude and unprofessional on the phone. Last time I spoke to someone in this office, I asked them to NOT contact me at work ever again. We talked about removing the debt because I should have never received a letter to begin with. They never fixed the problem or looked into the ********* ex and I rented an apartment together in 2021 (not married) and long story short, he ended up being a very toxic person for me and vice versa so we ended our relationship. He agreed to stay, and I would leave. He and I signed paperwork that was required by the leasing offices to update the lease to reflect that his name stayed and my name was taken off. The paperwork was updated, and I moved into a different complex and signed a new lease. My ex ended up neglecting his part of the contract (lease) and dipped. He was served with eviction papers months later. I NEVER got any mail, email, or phone calls about this because I was removed from the lease therefore I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE. Months later, I get a bill for the $8,000 that my ex owes! I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RENT ANOTHER APARTMENT AND SIGN ANOTHER LEASE IF MY NAME HAD NOT BEEN REMOVED! I've mailed and emailed the documentation and asked if they needed anything else from me. No response.I DO NOT OWE THIS DEBT!I see that I am getting yet another letter from them today, and now, after reading these reviews, I can clearly see that this place is a SCAM!Their staff does not take time to properly investigate nor do they listen!Business Response

I have reached out to ******** at ******** to request to obtain more documentation especially a copy of the actual Roommate Release Forms that were signed by me and Mr. ****** ********* and will gladly forward those over. The purpose of a roommate release form is to legally release a person from their obligations and responsibilities as a roommate in a shared living arrangement. I was legally released from the lease at ******** at ******** and signed a new lease at a new complex (Volterra at ********, where I still reside today). I am not legally responsible for the debt that was left behind.

This claim, related to my previous residence at ***************** Apartments (Apartment #**, ************************************************), is inaccurate and unfairly impacting my credit and ability to secure housing.I have clear documentation that my rent arrears were fully paid through the Housing Is Key program. Specifically:1. $11,135 was paid directly to you on October 9, ******. $21,460 was paid directly to you on August 24, 2022.This totals $32,595, which was cashed promptly. And was completely resolved any rental obligations. These payments were issued by the Housing Is Key program and paid directly to your organization on my behalf. Yet you're saying that I still owe you $19,000I did not receive any of these funds personally; they were strictly for settling rent arrears. Additionally, both checks were cashed by you, as confirmed by my attached proof, including cleared checks and payment documentation First I was getting phone calls from *********************** then they told me it was forwarded over to attorney's office Law Office of Brett M Borland, P.C. when I call over there They told me to speak to someone named ** **** who I've written three times and called multiple times with no response this debt is fully paid I paid over the amount that I owed I paid them $32,000 I only owe them not even 20 I have proof and documentation of all this I want this removed from all three of my credit reports I can't even get in touch with ** ********************** whoever if he's an alleged attorney or not who knows but he's a bunch of complaints on your website and also national debt systems on your website gets an F they're not even accredited so they're both a sham and a scam this is probably a game they run on so many people cuz I read all your complaints and there's a lot of them on there about apartment scams this is what's happening here but no one's looking at my evidence reading my evidence or listening to my story I can't get another apartment because of thisBusiness Response
