The owner ***** ******** is a *******. He has *** ***** as one of his sales representative. *** appears to be very personably, genuinely and honest. I liked him so much, I even shared some of my personal matters with him. However, *** is why I decided to go forth with handling business with Hail Naw Roofing. After speaking to the insurance adjuster and getting the "GO" to start the roofing project, I asked ***** for an invoice/service estimate. However, he indicated I would need to provide him the adjuster's summary before he could provide me an invoice. Ok, I never had my entire roof done before. I fixed a patch here and there. And I never received a large insurance amount of funds to do so as well. I spoke with a friend about the matter, and who most recently had her roof repaired. She said, her husband received an invoice and paid accordingly. Also, she said that it didn't sound right and ***** sounds like a rip off. My thought process was the same. But my heart went back to *** and I wanted to help him dearly. Because he shared some of his own personal matters with me as well. So, I emailed the adjuster's report, which showed the entire pricing and what items needed to be repaired.
Probably a week or so later, I met with *** again about the roofing design (color, style and so forth). This process took place in April 2021. I was given a date in May 2021 when the roof repairs would begin. The date was pushed back because material didn't arrived on time. That was understandable because of Covid-19. Finally, the project was started. But in the process of the roof being repaired, Hail Naw workers destroyed my tenants newly created flower bed. I sent a complaint to *** and *****. Per *****, it's wasn't his responsibility to reimbursed for flowers. Please see contract. Ok, got it. After the completion of the roofing project, the color (brown) in which I chose was not the color of the roof (shingles). It actually was the previous color. Ok, not going to make a big fuss. The roof is repaired and no more leaks. So, I waited to hear from them about the interior damage to be repaired. When finally contacting them, they could not provide me a concrete date. ***** indicated this area (interior repairs) wasn't the company's specialty. He would need to round up a crew. Time was clicking and I was losing money without a tenant residing in the unit. I contacted ***/***** told them I need to move forward and I have contractors to repair the interior. They agreed it was okay. We all were in agreement.
So therefore, since the roof was completed and HaiI Naw Roofing was not going to complete the interior, I asked ***** to provide me an invoice of completion. He then stated the adjuster made some miscalculations and he would need to meet with me to show what exactly he was talking about. We met the end part of June 2021 and it was said the additional to collect from the insurance company was $675.00. Weeks went by, so I decided to inquire about a final invoice of completion again. Then, ***** arranged a second meeting. We scheduled a meeting in July 2021, but he never showed up and didn't even call. A couple days later, we rescheduled the meeting. And at the meeting, literally, it was the same thing discussed in the June 2021 meeting. The additional amount was the same as $675.00. In August 2021, I was informed by ***** that he spoke with the adjuster and another check will be sent. About a couple of days later, I finally received an invoice. The amount was for $7,534.97. An amount we never discussed. I immediately contacted *****, he said the insurance adjuster said another check will be sent to cover it. We received the check in the amount of $675.00 a week later (end of August 2021).
Now, I'm furious!!!! So you basically charging me an additional $6,859.97 minus the $675.00. For what??? No detail.... As I told both *** and ***** in our initial meeting, I will not pay anything more than what the insurance provided. If the costs are higher then what the insurance provides, I don't need the repairs to be done at this time. So, after speaking to *****, he became transparent. He was rude, disrespectful and very obnoxious. And told me that's what I owed him and it need to be paid. He mentioned the amount of funds I received from the insurance company and this was his portion to be paid by me. Yes, the amount he mentioned I received from the insurance company was correct but he didn't repair the interior. He was requesting that portion and more. He immediately sent a revised invoice adding a 10% late fee of $753.50 and a lien fee of $300.00. Now, the total invoice is $8,588.47. We exchanged emails and texts and it became ugly. I told him I would need to seek legal advice from my cousin whose an attorney and I would be in touch with him. He continued to send harassing emails and texts. I told him, as I said before, I'm seeking legal advice. Please keep in mind, all of this back and forth started yesterday, September 7th, Labor Day (a holiday). My cousin wasn't working yesterday. And we all know when you return from a holiday whose overloaded with work. Today, ***** reached out to me again. I told him, as I indicated before, I'm seeking legal advice. Please don't keep harassing me. He refused, and contacted me again. This is his text message to me before I decided to block him. ("Wow, so you think collections is harassment. I thought I would give you the benefit of the doubt yesterday when you said you would contact your cousin. I was hoping she would have talked some sense into you to avoid late fees and attorney fees on a debt you owe, but I guess common sense ain't always so common.") As I mentioned before, PLEASE SEEK YOUR ROOFING SERVICE WITH ANOTHER ROOFING COMPANY. I did some research and there are similar complaints out there. He's trying to scam the insurance companies for additional funds and when he can't get the funds, he'll come after you. He's a *******!!!!!
