This Dr. office' billing department is an absolute nightmare. Prepare to be robbed, lied to, or ignored. I visited this office in Dec 2020 with a primary goal of getting an updated prescription so that I could replace my existing, outdated CPAP machine. The visit went well, the Dr. who saw me was able to use my old prescription as a guide to provide me with a new one. I was also told that I would have to come in for a follow-up appointment in a month so that my insurance company could verify that I was using the machine (that I was paying for out of pocket). Concerned, I asked what the charge would be for this follow-up, as money was a concern. I was told "oh no, don't worry. There's no charge associated with that visit". Pay attention to this part, because this was the start of the lies. On my way out, I asked to pay out of pocket because my insurance plan was a high-deductible HSA plan and I had had no doctor's visits prior to that point, and paid their first-time visit fee of $250. I later received a statement of benefits from my insurance company stating that this office had made a claim for my visit, and I had an expected co-pay of around $115 ish (my memory is fuzzy on this one). I was able to get in contact with the billing department and get the difference refunded. January comes, and I go in for the follow-up. I'm in and out in 10 minutes and I'm informed by the cashier at the time that there is no charge. All right, so far so good. Cue 7 MONTHS LATER, and I get a call from the collections portion of the billing department stating that I owe over $70 for the follow-up visit in January. It takes me OVER TWO WEEKS to finally get in touch with the supervisor in the billing department whose competency only goes so far as to state over and over "The insurance company says that you owe this as your co-pay, so there's nothing we can do". This is in spite of the fact that I neither needed, nor wanted the second visit, which only existed because the insurance company demanded it, and in spite of the DIRECT PROMISES I was made by my first doctor when I showed up in December. I hope the good doctors who work here can find a better office to work out of, because their support staff is awful. I will never use this doctor's office again, and I hope everyone else takes their business elsewhere.

    Mr ******,

We are very sorry for any confusion or miscommunication you may feel that has occurred. To address your comments above, please see below.
    1. Our providers, including Dr ***** do not offer the promise of free visits. That is not a practice that we are able to provide at this time. Each visit is billed to the insurance and or patient, including any copays, deductibles, or coinsurances that you owe as a result of your insurance plan's details.
    2. The cpap followup visit is part of our standard of care, to ensure that the machine is working properly and you are satisfied to the best of our abilities. They are also recommended and arranged as insurance companies require 90 day cpap followup to complete their payment of your machine.
    3. Any left over deductibles, copays, or coinsurances that you owe as a result of your insurance plan's details, is expected to be failed in full, in a timely manner. We do offer a wide range of payment options. Any overpayments owed to you are returned once determined and cleared through our billing department.

Again, we apologize for any miscommunication. You may wish to take your business elsewhere, however, we do feel that our business billing practices are the standard of care for any other medical office in our area.

    Sincerely,
Management, The Neurological Center of North Georgia.
