I took my son's truck to transmission "experts" in July 2024. I was quoted a total price of $2000 to rebuild the 4l60e transmission. After exceeding the delivery date by a week, I was charged $3600. I asked for a list of the parts replaced, they could not tell me what was replaced. The grill was damaged and the exhaust sounded like there was a hole in it. It was back before the 2 week check up because it was spraying fluid uncontrollably. November 2024 the truck had to go back into the shop for another full rebuild (under warranty). This time they took 4 weeks to complete a 26 hour job (all data source). There is a list of damaged parts due to the carelessness of the mechanics. At the 2 week check up it was again leaking fluid and not shifting correctly. The truck went back to the shop for a second time under warranty because the job was still not done. After keeping my truck for 2 weeks and not touching it, I took it to another shop to avoid further loss. This will most likely resolve in court due to the unprofessional manner in which this owner conducts his business.

We did work on this vehicle and we appreciate the business and do not hold any ill will towards this customer. We repaired the vehicle and we did have to charge more because the vehicle brought in is a 2wd vehicle but is set up like a 4wd vehicle. It came in with mud and dirt caked up under the vehicle and had been abused by someone driving it expecting it to perform like a 4wd vehicle. We warned them that driving that way could void the warranty the last time it was brought to us  her son had called before bringing it in saying it was leaking but continued to drive  and abuse the truck until it wouldnt drive anymore. We still were going to atempt a good faith effort and repair the truck. We explained we were backlogged a couple of weeks but as soon as her turn came up we would fix the truck. The customer got angry and said she would go elsewhere and get it fixed and make is pay for it in court. Sincerely Edward N***** Manager

I am rejecting this response because: This truck is 4wd and set up as 4wd. This response verifies the shop and its manager are ignorant in matters referring to my specific vehicle and general transmission knowledge. The truck was not abused nor had any mud caked under it as I inspected the truck thoroughly before taking to this shop. I also inspect the truck weekly as it is an older truck. The only time my truck was abused was when it was in this shop and damaged. Also, specific parts were not replaced after I was assured they would be. I have no reason to believe any parts were replaced properly since my truck left in worse shape than it went in.

    Sincerely,

I made a mistake in saying it was 2wd. it has been a while since this happened. We did have to pressure wash the vehicle twice because of all the mud. We also discussed as abused as much as it had been that the truck wasn't going to keep going much longer one reason being the water pump which we told her twice it was leaking and needed to be repaired. Well anyway we tried to get the customer to leave the truck before when she decided to take the truck and go elsewhere. if she would have been a little more patient we wouldn't be here now. the warranty ended 8/7/25. thank you Edward N***** Manager

I am rejecting this response because: You are now flagrantly lying. The truck was never pressure washed and there was no mud anywhere on my truck. It's a pavement princess with extra wide wheels and wheel well lights. It does not go off road. The shop kept my truck for over 2 weeks without doing any work and refused to give me any time estimate of when they would get around to looking at my truck. The water pump was not leaking, it is brand new replaced it the thermost and the radiator in August of 2024. My patience wore thin with the extra expense of not having my truck that had already been overcharged to repair. The shop could not give a detailed list of what services were performed or what parts were replaced. The mount they broke and told me they replaced was not replaced. I have the part in my possession. This shop destroyed my transmission, wheel well lights, knocked a hole in my exhaust and shorted out other wire bundles causing more electrical issues throughout my truck.

Hi we like to thank Mrs ****** for there business. We dont know what the vehicle is doing because after telling Mrs and Mr ****** several times to bring the vehicle back we would be glad to check it they refused to do so. We believe after finding a technical service bulletin that the problem is engine related and not the transmission at all. So we are sorry we cannot refund anything. Sincerely Eddy N***** Manager

On **********, I took my car to Transmission Experts with a slipping transmission. The man behind the desk told me it would take a couple of days to take the transmission apart to find out what was wrong.
A week and a half later, they told me the torque converter had come apart and damaged the transmission. They said it would require a rebuild. They began work on the car at this point.
On **********, they called to let me know the car was ready to be picked up. They told me the price to pick up the car would be $2,995.00. When I went to go pick up the car, the price had increased to $3,197.55
When I asked, they said the extra $200 was to cover tax. I went to get the car, it had a flat tire. They told me to take it around to get it pumped with air, when I did the power steering was making a loud noise and the car would not easily turn. The battery was also dead when I first attempted to start it.
One of the shops technicians attempted to fill the power steering pump, the fluid was immediately deposited on the ground below. I told him the car was not doing that before I brought it to the shop. He insisted that the car was already leaking although myself, and several other people know it was not.
I took the car to a separate mechanic who told me that when the transmission shop removed the transmission, they pinched the power steering line, causing a hole in the line.
The shop also attempted to remove and damaged pieces of equipment worth over $800.00 from the vehicle related to my employment that were not related to the transmission issue.
I twice tried to get them to address the power steering issue before leaving, which they refused. After contacting them following the assessment from a mechanic, they did offer to bring the vehicle back in for repair. But, due to the damage already done by Transmission Experts, I do not trust leaving my car with them, and will have it repaired elsewhere.

Thank you so much for contacting the BBB-

We will just be blunt about this issue- when you left the first time and called us about the power steering issue, you were informed that you could bring it back so we could get it on a scheduled lift inspection. you never brought it back.

So, you did to call us back, and unbeknownst to us, took it to another mechanic whom assumed we put a hole in the power steering line. To solve the issue, and we note, without hesitation, we told you that we would take care of the issue regardless of it being the actual pump, line, oil seal ring, etc. or; whatever may have happened. You then noted to us that you said the vehicle was not drive-able, so, and we note, again, that without hesitation, that we would tow your vehicle in at no charge, too. Then, and we quote “you said that you would call us back,” this after we told you again that we would take care of your issue.

If you decided to have your vehicle, assuming it was towed and fixed by another repair facility on your own accord, that’s on you. We offered and you apparently declined.

Now, on to this assumption of yours that we tried to steal so much worth of your company equipment? This is false, and the first we’ve even heard of this silly, absurd assumption. It’s not nice to point fingers and imply we are thieves. We are not and we DO NOT NEED WHAT YOU HAVE!

    REFUND: NO

REFUND: assuming you’re asking us to pay the other auto shop for the power steering, the message wasn’t very clear, but the answer is NO. We don’t not pay other shops to repair hearsay issues.  We offered to fix the issue, regardless of repair, for free. You declined.

Have a great day and thank you for your business.

I am rejecting this response because:

The shop that currently has the car, has currently identified other issues directly caused by Transmission experts:

    damaged CV Axle

damaged power steering rack and pinion

    damaged ABS wiring

this is in addition to the original issue with the power steering line

The shop confirms that these damages were caused directly by Transmission Experts during the removal and reinstallation of the transmission at their business

The negligence demonstrated by this business needs to be addressed

    Sincerely,

Good morning and thanks again for your business. I would like to respond to some of the comments youve made i think in attempt to make us look bad.You made one comment about how long it took. If i remember correctly you didnt have the money right away so we waited until you did. Your tire being flat was that way when you brought it you told us that.Your battery being dead all because we waited on you to come get it. The price when quoted was for parts and labor. We are sorry but we cannot issue refunds just because "your mechanic says" we damaged something. We have done nothing wrong that we can tell because you havent brought it back to us. We cant givr refunds just because he thinks we may have messed up this or that. Why didnt you let this mechanic work on your car?

My name is *********** *****. I'm making a complaint against Transmission Experts out of Columbus, Ga. ***** ******* ** **** ******** ******* ******** *** ** ***** **** I let them put a transmission in my car and they gave me a 12 months warranty. April 2022 I took them back my car because the service light was on. In April they said there wasn't anything wrong with my car. I felt a jerking motion in my car after I would drive around 60 miles. I took in back to them in July. It took them a whole month before they would tell me it's the transmission again. So I told him I wasn't paying another 3700$ because I paid that much the first time. He said he was going to work something with me manager Eddie. 2 months went by and he said the drive shaft was causing my transmission to tare up. So they order another drive shaft to and put it in. By the end of September they told me my car was fixed which mr Eddie had told me he was going to charge me 2000$ which went up to $3500 by the end of September. I drove my car to the gas station and the car was driving worse than it was before I left it with them. I took it back and they said it was the drive shaft. They never calls to inform myself about my car. I have to call them. Its been 2 months since they were supposed to fixed the drive shaft which they supposed to fix for free because I have already been charged for a drive shaft. Last week November 22nd mr Eddie call saying that my started has gone out in my car *** **** ***** So I feel like they are doing anything to get money from me. I want my car fixed and all the old parts they took off.
