      My wife had a medical emergency in the month of April and had to go to both Tanner Hospitals in ********** and *************. -While we were informed that a ** scan would be performed, the $7,293.00 charge submitted to our insurance provider for this single procedure seems excessive and warrants justification.-A urine pregnancy test was conducted without our knowledge or consent, and we were not informed it would be performed or billed.-Aside from bloodwork and the ** scan, the patient was only administered morphine, and no other medication or procedures were explained or requested during the visit.-Many of the listed tests and injections were not clearly communicated, nor was there any discussion of cost or necessity before they were ************ a family enrolled in a high-deductible health plan, any instances of overbilling or non-transparent charges place a significant financial burden on us. We rely on clear communication from our healthcare providers to make informed decisionsespecially in emergency situations. After billing our insurance about $16,400 for ER visit and receiving about $7661 after all adjustments, they think is not enough for an outpatient ***************** their billing department today and they said that the billing dispute submitted was dismissed and they stand by their pricing. What a horrible health system we have and Tanner is taking advantage by over billing.

      Our team has thoroughly examined all the concerns raised by the husband of this patient. All charges and care provided were found to be appropriate for both dates of service. The patient did sign the consent to treat forms. By signing these forms, the patient acknowledges that they are granting the physician the authority to provide treatment as deemed necessary.

      All services were delivered to this patient, and all charges align with the prevailing market rates. We have presented the patient with a 20% discount on their deductible and coinsurance amounts that their insurance has designated as the patient's responsibility. We will not be settling the accounts for any lesser amount.

      On Wednesday, 12/28/2022, I fell in the shower at my fiancee's residence and struck the front of my face on the ceramic side of a bath tub. My fiancee lives in ******. My son was on staff at ***************** in ************ and has lived in Carrollton, a few years back. Three of my grandchildren were born at Tanner Health ************** in Carrollton. My fiancee, who is a nurse for Piedmont came home and transported me to Tanner ** in Carrollton. Although I asked to see a doctor, a nurse saw me and strangely, none of the staff touched me, during the exam. They ordered CT's of my brain and front facial area. My dentist retook an X-Ray yesterday of my mouth. I have been called three (3) times and one voice mail was left by a woman named "****" and she said that ** staff failed to obtain my SSN and my ******** Member Number. I am also insured by ***********************. She asked me to call her at ************, which is a ******** number. She left no extension number. I called her back to give her whatever she needed and a recording stated that this line doesn't take in-coming calls. I called the main number and asked to speak with CEO *******************. I observed some things that I thought he should know about, i.e., mixing non-Covid patients with non-Covid patients and the amount of suffering that I observed in the ** in the Carrollton facility was difficult to view, because it seemed that no one cared or was empathetic at all. The person in the administrative office stated that **************** was busy and would not talk to me, would not return my call and she could transfer me and I would have to track down **** in ******** myself. Tanner Health System is broken. My visit to the ** was a waste of an afternoon. I won't do it again. I don't understand how Tanner Health System gets by with treating patients in such a horrific manner. When patients are suffering, they simply ignore it. I was sitting with 15 of them and it broke my heart. I still would like to talk to the ****

      I am writing in response to a complaint filed by our patient, *********************  We do apologize for the delay as these reviews take approximately 30 to 60 days.  I reached out to ******************** on multiple occasions but was not able to speak with him directly. 
       
      The overall care that he received has been reviewed by an unbiased physician and was found to be appropriate. 
       
      Regarding timeliness, this may vary due to the volume and severity of patients who are waiting to be seen.  We see patients as quickly as possible in any appropriate space we can find. 
       
      In reference to Covid and Non-Covid patients being in the same area, we make every effort to keep Covid positive patients isolated from everyone else.  The only time we would not be able to do so is while in the waiting room prior to being seen. 
       
      Concerning ****, we are unable to determine which staff member this is.  We reminded our team when reaching out to always leave a direct extension.  We also provided guidance to our staff to be sure to obtain relevant information from patients at the time of the visit.
