The Georgia Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission (the Commission) and the Georgia Board of Nursing (the Board) were recently made aware that Erudite Nursing Institute/Medical Career Specialists is advertising registered and practical nursing education programs. O.C.G.A. Sections 43-26-10(7) and 43-26-42(7) state that it is a misdemeanor for an entity to conduct a nursing education program preparing persons to practice nursing as registered professional nurses or licensed practical nurses unless the program has been approved by the Board. O.C.G.A. Section 20-3-250.7 states that postsecondary activities such as these must be authorized by the Executive Director of the Commission subject to fines being levied.
