I've been with Optimum Internet for the past 2 years out of it being the only ISP provider in my area. From day 1 I've always had issues with their service. I have the highest internet package available mainly b/c I work from home, and the speeds still just put me at the bare min of what my job requires. Causing loads of issues with productivity at my workplace. I've previously had Metronet but moved to where I currently am, so Metronet wasn't available and Metronet's connects was beyond what I needed so I know the problem lies with Optimum. Yet every time i called about internet connectivity I was told it was my works issue, or a tech came out and said they fixed the problem and it would be good for a day maybe 2. this last time after a tech came my speeds dropped so significantly that I kept losing connection at work causing attendance issues the speeds are not even enough to steam a show in its entirety. so THANKFULLY! Bright speed came along in our area! so obviously I jumped at the chance to abandon ship. I just got off the phone with optimum to cancel my service with them. It's the 19th of Nov. they said they are going to charge me till dec 15th for the remainder of the billing cycle even though it's only like 4 days into the cycle. I've said for some sort of predated shut off so i can just pay for the 4 days I used or even the dec 15th bill be prorated for credit back the days not used. they said it can't be done. I find this hard to believe considering if people go late on their bill, they are capable of shutting off their service in a moment's notice and once they pay it then it magically gets turned back on. there's no wait time. I feel like I'm being taken advantage of because I no longer wish to be a part of their bad service.

i moved in july 2024 and needed to get new internet/cable provider. I had issues with the company right from the beginning so much that i canceled my service about a week in. the company did convince me to stay with them by locking me into a 2 year promotion. At my1 year anniversary my bill increase almost $50. When I called the company they said that my account slipped into a gap in the promotion because of when my billing date was. My next bill should reflect the promotion again. When i asked for my $$ back since it is their fault my account was taken off a promotion when it should not have been removed, i was told that they will not be doing a refund. this company is horrible to work with and i recommend to stay away. what they tell you and what they do are very different from each other. it's impossible to fix any problems you have with them.
