It seems to be operating like a pyramid scheme, requiring us to share, invite, and recruit more members in order to withdraw earned funds. This requirement was never stipulated as a condition for accessing earned funds through the app.Business Response
Date: 04/21/2025
The supporter who submitted this complaint has a basic misunderstanding of the app.
The supporter seems to be pretending to be an athlete when writing the complaint.
The app does not require any shares, invites or recruitment in order to withdraw earned funds.
The app terms do require that a creator/athlete contributes to the club in some meaningful way before withdrawing but most athletes can establish this by simply making a post for their paying supporters.
As evidenced by the attachment ***** ******* successfully withdrew over $125 without sending a single invite or sharing any information.
The complainant, a supporter, appears to fundamentally misunderstand our apps functionality and may be falsely posing as an athlete. Our app does not mandate shares, invites, or recruitment for athletes to withdraw earnings. Per our terms, athletes must contribute meaningfully to the club before withdrawingtypically by posting for their paying supporters. As shown in the attachment, athlete ***** ******* withdrew $125.75 without any invites or shares. Since supporters cannot log in or use the app, this complaint is likely fraudulent or stems from a clear misunderstanding.

I have no idea who these people really are. My understanding is that the website had some connection to ************************* of the Bible and for the women**;s basketball team that my daughter is part of. I asked the school and my daughter was asking where the money goes and neither the coaches nor the school has no idea where that went because they have never heard of this company and have no connection despite the site using their name. I first found this site from a message up on my phone back in January about contributing to the school. Her goal was 500 dollars, and I paid 50 dollars. However, I was not aware it was 50 dollars per month until I was looking at my statement. This is what prompted me to call the school. ********** made contributions to the NIL Club at *************************. NIL Clubs are not directly affiliated with the schools and are not run by the coaches. NIL Clubs are run by athletes to benefit athletes. Jacquelines concern that the athletes have no access to the money is totally baseless as athletes have cashed out over $300 of contributions to the NIL Club and many have money in their NIL Club account that can be cashed out at any time. ********** was contacted with examples of cash outs and specific names of athletes who had been able to access their money and she ignored us. All of the information that she misunderstands is clearly stated on the NIL Club website where she made her contribution.Initial Complaint

My whole family received a text asking for money to support our nephews basketball and football team. We signed up to support for $50. One time only! Except they refused to accept a one-time payment and told us (after we had signed up) that we had to call them a cancel the automatic subscription. We disputed the charge with our bank, at the time, but they denied the dispute, at the time. I have been attempting to call this supposed business for over three months now to cancel, as they instructed us to do, and every month, they collect $50 from our account and my nephew and his teammates/school have not seen one dime of this money. Your company is fraudulent and using predatory tactics to get people to donate. Currently we have a stop payment in place for this business and we are being refunded $50 of the $200.00 they have taken, but we would like the rest of our money returned to our account. Or proof that ************ in *******, ** has received these funds for their sports programs.Business Response

Hello, sorry about this experience, someone from our team will reach out immediately.
Overall there are a few things missing from your understanding of the NIL Club.
NIL Club texts go out only to supporters that are selected by the participants when they sign up in our app.
We communicate with all participants and supporters via text and in all cases you are communicating with a human via text.
Typically when people sign up they are making a monthly commitment to support the chosen NIL Club. During the sign up and contribution process it states monthly 4 times before you ever complete your payment. If supporters request to make a one time contribution we either send them a special link that allows a one time contribution or send them instructions on how to cancel on their NIL Club profile on our website.
Cancelling an NIL Club contribution only takes 2 clicks and we do not offer phone support. Reviewing our texts with you I find no evidence that we ever told you you could call to cancel your subscription.
NIL Club contributions do not go to schools they go directly to the participating students. Your nephew and whoever he is participating in the NIL Club with will be able to access their share of the proceeds easily from their NIL Club app. If they have any trouble they can contact us via text. On the NIL Club website it clearly states that the school is not affiliated with the NIL Club but it is instead run by the students to benefit the students.
NIL Club funds are disbursed immediately upon payment processing to the participating student's accounts which makes it impossible for us to refund anyone as the money has already been distributed to the participating students in the intended NIL Club. Our no refund policy and explanation is clearly stated in our terms.

I am rejecting this response because:I do not remember receiving an email with a complaint ID number. I filed a complaint about a company called NIL Club and they seem to have recently changed their name to YOKE, or are under that umbrella, to make it easier to track.
They are a predatory company that communicates directly with kids under the age of 18, gets them to put an app on their phone and then, according to their claims, has the student athlete text their family members and ask them to donate. My nephew and seven of his teammates are listed on their website but my brother-in-law reached out to warn us that the text we received was a scam and not from my nephew.
In the response I read online, in what I'm assuming is my BBB complaint, it says I can cancel online with an easy two clicks. Not true. I logged into "contact" them and they pushed a payment through at my bank. I had called and talked with my bank about the charges I disputed, back in July or August, or both, I cannot remember, and never heard from the company.
The money supposedly cannot be refunded to me, as it has been distributed to my nephew on an app he does not even have on his phone. This is not resolved.
The company is pursuing minors and allowing them to supposedly collect money for their high school sports teams, but does not communicate with the school, coaches, or teachers at that school, but most importantly, they are minors and parents have to give permission for this type of thing.
They claim in all of their responses that the students have access to the money, but I have yet to speak with a student on my nephews team that has access to any money. This is predatory and needs to be marked as such in their BBB file.
Also, there needs to be a way for me to remove my bank card from their website. They are legally required to provide a way for me to remove my card. Their website does not provide this. They also claim they are open and up front about a lot of things, no they are not. If they were, every single complaint would not be from people who they have taken advantage of. Look at the complaint (10-15-2024) from a father, who's son has raised $100, but NIL has never contacted him and asked his permission for his underage son to be on their site "raising" money. Look at the 09-22-2024 complaint where a college student was taken advantage of, along with other players on her team. Look at all the other complaints and tell me that they are on the up and up. They are not. BBB needs to mark this file appropriately and take action to warn other consumers about these fraudsters. My complaint is not resolved and I want it reopened and addressed by this supposed business.
I will be reporting to every enforcement agency I can, but until that time, I want my complaint marked as "unresolved". Unless and until the business shows proof they have refunded us our money, I will not accept their lies as a response.
Sincerely,
M ****Business Response

I will respond to your entire complaint but firstly, to clarify, our company is called YOKE and our app is called the NIL Club app.
Our company, similar to Instagram, or ********, has users under the age of 18 but no users under the age of 13. If someone under the age of 13 tries to sign up for the NIL Club app the app stops working and displays a warning (attached) which says "Sorry You must be at least 13 years old to use this app." If someone under the age of 18 (but 13 or older) signs up for the NIL Club app they are required to have a parent consent and read the terms of service and privacy policy in order to use the NIL Club app (also attached).
Your accusation that the NIL Club is a scam is totally baseless. The NIL Club's mission is to allow all athletes to reach their earning potential. This money goes to the athletes NOT the school or the team or the coaches. The way that we accomplish this mission is by allowing students to set up NIL Clubs where their fans and supporters can make contributions. The proceeds from the NIL Club are split equally among the participating students in the NIL Club. In order for your nephew to be listed on the website he necessarily would have had to have finished the sign up process in the app which includes asking for parental consent. Your nephew and the seven teammates of his on the website all will have some amount of money available to them in their NIL Club app balance which can be cashed out (with the help of a parent) via ****** or Venmo. A scam would involve us stealing money or misrepresenting the destination of the money. All of the information about who is asking for money and where the money goes is plainly and honestly stated on our website with no ambiguity.
Any supporter can easily cancel their subscription at **************************************************** with 2 easy clicks under "Clubs" and active subscriptions.
We can be contacted easily at any time via text or email and we respond daily nearly 24 hours a day to both means of communication.
You claim that your nephew deleted the app from his phone but we have no way of knowing whether or not that is true because Apple/Android do not share that information with us. If your nephew wanted to delete his NIL Club account he could easily do that with 2 clicks in the app. However if he were to download the app again and login with his phone number he could easily claim the money via Venmo or ****** with the help of a parent.
NIL is in it's infancy and in most states schools, coaches and administrators are not allowed to be involved in athlete NIL earnings whatsoever. We don't engage with schools or coaches to protect student's eligibility because of these state laws. We have over ******* athletes on our app and engaging with each school individually even if it was allowed would be impossible as we are a small business.
I'm not sure how many students on your nephew's team you have had the chance to talk to but I can tell you with 100% certainty all of them, unless they deleted their account, will have access to the funds in the app.
You can easily remove your payment method from the NIL Club at ******************************************************************;

I do not believe the NIL Club app is a scam for athletes however my son signed up for the NIL Club as a high school student and now he has made about $100 but no one from the NIL Club has reached out to me, his dad to ask permission for having an minor on their platform. I do not think this is anything like instagram or tiktok, these platforms are different and more common so I believe they are 100% okay for kids but the NIL Club app is new and not everyone uses it so I'm not so sure that kids should be using it without the platform reaching out to the parents personally and directly. It is something anyone who is considering signing up for an NIL Club or supporting one that kids as young as 13 participate in NIL Clubs in some states and parents are not reached out to by the platform for permission. On top of this now many people in our family suddenly consider themselves "supporters" of my son just because they sent money to the NIL Club page.Business Response
Date: 10/21/2024
Overall it seems like your son is mostly using the NIL Club app as intended and is having a good experience.
The NIL Club app requires all students under 18 who sign up to seek parent/guardian approval during the sign up process before their account is set up. It is difficult for us to reach out to every parent to confirm that they have been made aware of their child's participation in the NIL Club.
We do look at the NIL Club app in a similar light to Instagram or ******** where students are able to make an account on their own and create an online presence. We see the NIL Club as much safer as everything is behind a paywall that only invited supporters can access. We heavily monitor all profile pictures, cover photos and NIL Club posts to ensure that everything is above board.
An important aspect of the NIL Club platform is that students get the ability to connect with their supporters in a unique way. They can invite people who they see as their biggest supporters to join them in a more sincere way and support their NIL Club.

On July 24 or daughter got a text from this company starting that they're representing the student athlete at her university ***** NIL and that they should send it to their friends and family for them to support them by donating and that the funds will go to the student but when the players asked their school, they found out that it was fraud and that they should not sign up. Except that it was too late before she told us, we've already donated and there was no where in their website where it states anything about recurring charges but they charged again in August and we couldn't find any way to cancel it, except to cancel my credit card. They need to refund the funds they took from us and "Cease and Desist" from been able to do this to other people again.Business Response
Date: 10/21/2024
To add context to your understanding of NIL Clubs. Here is how the texts work. Your daughter was likely invited by a friend or teammate who thought she might enjoy being a member of the NIL Club. When someone sends an invite we often assist with the invite by sending a follow up text to give more context and help explain exactly what the opportunity is.
We do not reach out to anyone cold to inquire about joining the NIL Club, everyone has been invited by someone else who signed up in our app.
NIL Clubs are not launched or run by the school they are launched by students who sign up in our app. Schools in most states are not allowed to be involved in NIL or NIL deals at all.
When people choose to make a contribution it states 4 or more times that their support will be monthly throughout the checkout process. Cancelling an NIL club contribution is easy via ************************************************************, it only takes 2 clicks.

On Friday 7/26, our family members were sent a text saying that our sons baseball team is looking for donations from NIL club. We've never heard of this organization and we have no idea how they got our sons information or our families phone numbers. This is a scam and we demand an immediate refund. They messed with the wrong family. The CEO's name is ******************* and they go under the parent company name YOKE. Also, they answer to an investment firm called TMV or Trail Mix Ventures. I received an email saying they won't refund our money and that the money was "immediately distributed into players accounts and they now have control of the money"Business Response
Date: 10/21/2024
Hello, thank you for reaching out to us.
Your son would have signed up for the NIL Club on our app. During the sign up process participating students are given the opportunity to invite supporters who they think might be interested in supporting them and the other participating students in their NIL Club.
When people make payments the money is automatically disbursed to the participating students in the NIL Club and that is the reason for our no refund policy. If we were to refund people we would have to somehow take the money from people's accounts who we have already disbursed money to which we do not have a mechanism for.
The NIL Club operates to give students an opportunity to work together to make money by producing exclusive content for their fans and supporters. In this instance the NIL Club did work as intended where your family member was able to support your son and his teammates.

In June I donated to my nieces' account to support her. There was nothing on the site obviously stating this was a reoccurring donation yet now in July I am getting charged again... WHY? School is closed, she graduated so where did my money go?I went on to their website and found zero information regarding the reoccurring donation when attempting another donation transaction... this tells me this company scams people into making monthly donations regularly - this wa proved when finding complaints on ******** about this same deceptive practice.I want my $50.00 reimbursed immediately and this company needs to receive an extremely poor rating on BBB.Business Response

Hello, it is very nice that you were willing to support your niece via her NIL Club. On the site during the check out process it mentions multiple times the word "monthly" to indicate that this will be a reoccurring contribution. I have attached two screenshots a reference.
NIL Clubs are ongoing and are not seasonal. If someone makes a monthly contribution then it will continue until they choose to cancel it. Supporters can cancel at any time via the NIL Club website at ****************************************************. As long as your niece is or was a member of the NIL Club she will receive a equal portion of the proceeds from you and other people's contributions.

I am rejecting this response because of this statement "As long as your niece is or was a member of the NIL Club she will receive a equal portion of the proceeds from you and other people's contributions."It was proven over and over and over again to you that my niece NEVER SET UP THE ACCOUNT NOR HAS A ******************** ACCOUNT even though you repeatedly tried to tell me she did and would receive the funds from the account. Her family as well as she denied ever setting up the account, and you refused to accept her own admission that she had nothing to do with it. THAT MEANS YOU WERE HACKED and someone created a fake account with her name, but you denied that could be possible. You refused to provide any proof that she was the originator of the account and instead continued to tell me to talk to her about the funds in HER account.
************ has had multiple complaints regarding similar security breaches and people being targeted, especially kids in elementary or high school, yet you kept denying my claims that this happened to my niece. ************ needs to be flagged for security issues.

I'm not positive who your niece is but assuming it is Caedran ********* since you guys share a last name.
She signed up on June 4th at 4:39 PM, she used her phone number and two factor authentication in order to get signed up, it is not possible to fake this unless someone stole her phone just to set up this NIL Club account. She has a balance sitting in her account that she can cash out at any time.
We are totally confident that this is Caedran's legitimate phone number because she was personally invited by her teammate ****** ***** via our app.
In the opinion of our tech team there is a 100% chance that this account was set up legitimately by Caedran via our app on her phone. It is impossible that someone could impersonate her or hack her phone to set up this account because of the 2FA security measures that we use to protect our users.
Other information to confirm it was indeed Caedran who set up this profile that might help: The people who she listed as potential supporters are as follows: Grandma, Aunt ****** Aunt ****** Dad, Mama ***, ***** ******.

I am rejecting this response because she did not setup the account and has no access to the money. Her family researched this and there s no way for them to access the money... don't you think if she had access she would actually take the money out?!? It's not rocket science. You act like it is impossible for this to be a scam even though it had happened more than once to different individuals at her school, to the point that the school issued a formal warning to all the students and parents!
You can live in denial that your company is safe from hackers but that fact remains she has no way to access the money supposedly sitting in an account, according to you, waiting for her.

July 5, 2023 I opened an account with nilclub.com to make monthly donations to my daughter's college sports team. Her team shortly after closed the account but I was not aware until February 2024. Nilclub.com continued to take the monthly donation from my account after the ******************* of ************ Women's Rugby Team account was closed. I tried numerous times to contact them to see where my money was going and close my account but they never responded. In the meantime, I disputed the charges with my credit card company who said the charges were valid because they were for donations I agreed to pay. But I only agreed to support the team that no longer has an account, and Nilclub.com not longer takes customer support inquiries by phone and has not responded to any of my emails. The only time they reached out was after the charges were disputed but they provided no explanation for where my donation was going. The automatic payments also stopped after the dispute was initiated. Because the sports team was closed and not connected to my account, I was unable to stop these payments myself.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because the funds paid on the closed account were not refunded as they claim. I tried reaching out to NIL for a refund of these charges and they never responded to me. I was provided a temporary refund from my credit card company when I challenged the charges, but the temporary refunds were all over turned and I still paid $400 for an account that was not active. They may have made changes so this doesn't happen again but they still kept my money when it should have been refunded. They did not refund my payments as stated, they never responded to my requests. Attached is a screenshot of the credit card activity on my account that shows the charges only temporarily being refunded, then reversed.

Hello I'm sorry this happened, unfortunately we have no way of knowing about a rare case in which a school or coach decides that they will no longer use the NIL Club going forward. The only way we could know is if all of the participating athletes in the NIL Club deleted their account but in this case there are still 5 active members of the ******************* Men's Basketball NIL Club so they are still receiving a portion of the proceeds from all supporters who contribute and can withdraw their funds at any time via ****** or Venmo on the NIL Club app.

Hello, as you can see at this link: ********************************************************************** There are still 5 participating athletes on the NIL Club website. We cannot shut down an NIL Club with participating athletes per our terms so the NIL Club will be ongoing as long as there is participants.
In most cases coaches are not permitted to be involved in the NIL Club or any NIL activity so it is not surprising that the coaches would not be familiar with the NIL Club activity.

Your niece joined the NIL Club for the ************************* Women's Hockey team in January and invited you as one of her supporters. Its not possible to join an NIL Club as a student-athlete without downloading the app and creating an account.
Her ********************** account still exists and she has a balance as a result of fans like yourself supporting her group. She can access her earnings through the app. The app is called "NIL Club" and it has a blue logo with a white foam finger if thats helpful for reminding her.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic.
