I booked a room at the Red Roof Inn - ***** Fairgrounds Casino for my mother and I for 9/30/23-10/1/23. Upon entering our room, (that says smoke-free) there was a WAVE of cigarette smoke that hit our faces. It smelled awful, the phones did not work, the bed sheets were stained, carpet stained mirrors not clean. So we went to the desk and asked to change rooms. The next room, the smell was even worse and there were holes in the walls. So we went back to the front and asked for the original room, since we were only there to sleep one night we tried to endure it. (At this moment there are 5 other people in the lobby asking for refunds for disgusting rooms)As we were getting ready for dinner, I saw TWO live cockroaches crawling across the table. This is where we **** the line. We grabbed all of our things, went to the lobby asking for a refund and to cancel the reservation. They declined, stating we booked through a 3rd party, so they will have to do the refunding. Okay, fine. My mom and I went to another hotel to set our things down. I called Expedia and they went to process the refund, and responded with Red Roof is declining the request to refundSo now i am in talks with Red Roof for SOME type of resolution, 50% refund, points for a free night. SOMETHING. Considering we were not able to sleep in that room or use the reservation at all. It has been 1 month and they still have yet to offer me a resolution besides ***** points. But.. to get a free night is **** points **** points is 30% off?? Make it make sense. I am eager for a resolution. I dont understand why this has been so difficult. Live cockroaches. German cockroaches. The type that infest places. And the are refusing to refund?? What type of business is this?Not to mention smoke free property- i wish i could upload a smell to the photos. And i cannot get ahold of the manager on duty at that location. Help:(
