USER BEWARE!! The good reviews are probably coming from people who are naïve and unaware of shady business practices. Go ELSEWHERE or you will end up with multiple visits only for **** to discover that there are more things "wrong" with your appliances. This guy is unprofessional, rude, and doesn't like to be asked any questions or he will snap at you to "let him do his job" and question whether you can do it instead.
If you do choose to hire this man, watch him closely and get a second opinion if something seems off.
FULL VERSION
Mr. **** ***** and his partner came to our home to fix the gasket on our freezer door which was loose and causing frost on the inside. I'm going to focus on **** because the guy he works with really just does as he is told and seems to be there as more of an extra set of hands.
1st visit: They walked in, opened the fridge door, took down the model number and that was it. I wondered if they could have saved us a visit and just asked one of us to send them the model number? They said they'd be back in a few weeks because they needed to wait for some parts to come in. It was just the rubber gasket and a fridge drawer that had broken.
2nd visit: They come in with the parts. **** and his friend seemed to be having trouble getting the gasket in place and I kid you not, he pulled up a Youtube video. A YOUTUBE video as he was attempting to use the heat gun to fuse the gasket to the frame of the freezer door.
Prior to that, after many failed attempts to pull the freezer door out, he yanked it so hard multiple times until we heard something snap. He was able to get it out but realized that the rail piece where the wheels of the freezer roll, was broken almost in half. He turns to me and says, "SEE? There's your problem, this is why the rubber gasket got damaged. This piece inside was already broken so I will need to order a new one for you and come back to do that another time." In addition, the rubber gasket part he was working on somehow "got damaged". He said "I'm not sure if it came like that or if we did it but I need to get a new one"
At this point I am VERY skeptical but because we are tenants and our landlord had somehow found this guy, we decided to stick with it and see what would happen at the THIRD visit. The final visit right?
NOPE. Stay tuned, this gets better.
3rd visit: Mr. **** arrived late again. ( I forgot to mention that the previous time he actually cancelled last minute because he was at another job.) He arrived with 3 parts. The drawer, a new rubber gasket, and the rail piece that he "discovered was broken" during visit Number 2.
They start speaking in Spanish and mumbling things. I don't think **** was too happy that I was present and asking questions here and there but I don't care because it's my house and my fridge for the time being. I need to see what's going on. I was also about 90% sure this guy broke the rail himself at the previous visit when he was incorrectly yanking the freezer door SO HARD to get it out. I didn't say anything that time because my husband was present too and he didn't say anything to stop him. ALSO, when you have a so called "professional" in your home, you want to trust that they know what they are doing even if it's somewhat painful to watch. (Like him pulling up a Youtube video mid job or abusing the freezer)
Fast forward about 45 minutes, **** finally figures out how to fuse the gasket to the freezer door and now is having trouble fitting the top drawer in. He "discovers" that someone had previously worked on the freezer and that when using their "heating tool" this said person caused damage to the freezer which caused a large bubble in the plastic and was not allowing him to properly attach the top drawer in. IN ADDITION, there was more of this crazy banging of the freezer drawer. I am talking LOUD and HARD banging. Well, I wasn't going to stand back and watch him break something so I asked him politely to please stop. He says to me: "Are you going to let me do my job?" "Do you know how to fix it?" I explained that I didn't think there was a need to use such excessive force but he continued. When finished, he said that he would need to leave and come back later because he needed a heating tool to fix the damage done by the previous person. The thing is, this was a brand new fridge and there had been NO repair done previously. I needed to confirm this with the landlord first (which I did via text) and then I knew this dude was a liar. We let them leave and told them they'd have to come back a different day.
I decide to inspect the inside of the freezer and realize that when **** put the drawer back in, he did not align it properly and therefore the top would not fit. It took me a total of FIVE MINUTES with my drill to take the pieces apart and properly align then, then reattach. Everything clicked into place and the top drawer slid right in!!! We texted and cancelled what would have been a FOURTH appointment and more money for "labor"
What's funny is that **** had sarcastically asked me if I could fix the problem or let him "do his job" and I guess, I did the former. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY or watch the work carefully and get a second opinion if you're being told you need more work than what you hired him for.
