This contractor has taken our allotted storm flood insurance funds and left our home a mess, the walls were left in an absolute and total mess. ******* finish per contract was to be completed as a level 5 meaning flat walls. The contractors from S ROSS HANDYMAN SERVICES LLC slapped up drywall and mud barely sanded the drywall and slapped paint on the wall. You could run your hand down the walls after being painted and your hand would be white from the dust from the lack of proper cleaning prior to painting. The walls were bumpy, dented, textured and dry with powder residue and painted over. *.**** HANDYMAN SERVICES LLC promised hed make it right after returning from his 3rd leave of being on the job. **** paid him in advance so he could pay his guy and needed extra funds to take care of personal stuff on his 3rd venture away from our remodel job. When he came back, he said he was canceling the contract and not coming back. So much work was left incomplete and the work that was done needed to be fixed and was not taken care of. We had to hire another contractor to fix ALL the work that was done and incomplete by S ROSS HANDYMAN SERVICES LLC.S ROSS HANDYMAN SERVICES LLC has put our job behind schedule, caused a lot of wasted funds as well as causing us to take money out of our pocket to fix and complete work that S ROSS HANDYMAN SERVICES LLC has already been paid for. . We paid for materials upfront. Part of these materials are trims, baseboards and doors. Contractor never had us approve of any of these items. We had discussions but never made any decisions. S ROSS HANDYMAN SERVICES LLC took it upon himself to pick these items out. After confronting him with this he stated we could return them. But he will not provide any receipts. We have a lot of photos

    Business Response

    Date: 08/26/2025

I respectfully dispute the claims made in the complaint.

    ****** Performed
All phases of work contracted to my company were completed through May 30, 2025, up to the point where flooring (not included in my scope) was to be installed.
The photos submitted by the complainant were taken prior to final touch-**** Updated photos and text communications confirm the work was completed as scheduled.
The homeowner was present throughout the project, and all concerns raised were addressed promptly.

    2.Payments
The payment structure was divided into four scheduled installments. Each installment was requested only after completion and homeowner approval of specific phases (drywall installation, taping, skim coating, and painting).
No payments were received for unperformed work. At no time were disaster relief or flood funds misused or taken improperly.

    3.Trim & Doors
Trim and door selections were discussed, documented, and approved by the homeowners prior to ordering. These items were always scheduled to be completed after flooring and kitchen work.

    4.Contract Conclusion
After repeated attempts to contact the homeowners in June with no response, I notified them on July 1 that I would be unable to complete the remaining trim and door work due to scheduling obligations.
At that time, $6,933 remained on the contract, available for the homeowners to use with another contractor. I also offered to deliver the materials already purchased and to refund the cost of the doors.

Clients were not satisfied with attempted resolution I provided via email or attempt to compromise themselves with a reasonable request.  They threatened to sue and file complaints.

Only after cancellation of the remaining contract balance were complaints raised.

    Conclusion
All contracted work through May 30 was completed in full and approved by the homeowner at each stage. The contract balance was left available for completion of the remaining work by others. I have acted in good faith throughout this project and maintain that the claims in the complaint are inaccurate. Supporting documents and photographs are attached showing the timeline and that I did do the touch *** after painting as they asked.   The photos are from 8AM that morning and painting was conducted throughout the day.   I even returned on site to inspect the work at the end of the day on the 30th.

    Complaint: 23649861

I am rejecting this response because:

    1. Work performed.

The pictures were taken on July 24th at 827 am.  Long after you quit. While you were out on your LOVE VACATION that we fronted you the funds for prior to work being completed. You never returned.

    2. payments

3rd payment was made with complaints and your promise to make it right. You needed the money to pay your guy and to take your lady friend on a romantic get away. You made us aware that you had a man working with little experience on our home because **** was getting angry about your work. This is your fault! You should have never left someone alone working that was new.

    3.Trim & Doors

I do not see a signed document, please provide the signed document with selections made on anything. Or even an email or text message approving  selections. We had verbal discussions about items but never decided on anything. Lets see the proof of material acceptance.

Also, Mr. **** refuses to give us the receipts

    4.Contract conclusion

Please show your call logs and text messages for repeated attempts to contact. This is a total lie. You quit because you said you cant work in these conditions... meaning you were receiving to many complaints about your terrible work and your lack of being on site to fix the issues.

You did not give a 3 day notice as your contract states.

    In conclusion

Mr. Ross is a liar, and a thief and he doesn't know how to run his business.

We didn't threaten ! Law suit is now in the works, they will have to provide discovery. All the lies will be in the open. The call logs, emails, trips, financials, receipts etc.

    Sincerely,

    ****/****** ********

    Business Response

    Date: 09/04/2025

S Ross Handyman Services acknowledges the client's concern in the original conversation.    The proposal was to deliver the trim, refund the cost of the doors (not installed) and the remainder of the contact $6933 not collected.   That is a 26% reduction on the original expected contract agreement.   This seems more than reasonable to end the matter.

There was no money taken that was not earned by ordering and coordinating materials, overseeing the project, physical labor, use of tools, and 4 weeks time involved.    The work was completed up to the last phase on May 30th as we could not go any further until flooring and cabinet installation (which is not our scope) as per the owner/contractor.    This was known as part of the contract.    The flooring was scheduled which is why the deadline.   What I do in my personal time has nothing to do with this contract.  I was not an absent business owner in this project. I had constant physical contact with this project including the Memorial day holiday.

There is nothing further to include if they don't want to compromise.

I am rejecting this response because:

We never decided on trim. You charged for trim and are trying to deliver it. We need a full refund of all, doors, trim, and paint. As well as having to pay another business to fix your terrible work. We are looking for a minimum of ********* in refunds. That number is without the garage work that you didn't even start that we paid for. We are unsure of what the full cost are for the garage since we haven't even made it in there.

If you would like to negotiate before the lawsuit gets started that works for us. We can set a mediation and go from there. But you have done very terrible work and also didn't finish the work you were paid for. You are in breach of your own contract as well.

    Sincerely,

    ****/****** ********
