In November 2016, BBB contacted US Student Loan Center, Inc. requesting information as to why the business believes the customers are filing the complaints, and what actions the business has taken to help eliminate the causes of complaints.
In January 2017 US Student Loan Center stated:
In the past has used Fed Loans to submit application for student loan consolidation. It has been their practice to advise students to cancel our services, demand a refund and then make a BBB complaint. We fought this every single day of our business.
In July of 2016 we stopped having applications submitted to Fed Loans and started sending to Great Lakes and Nelnet. Both companies have been great to work with and have been a welcome change. We delayed this move for so long as Fed Loans has a great loan forgiveness tracking system. In hindsight we should have made this change much sooner. The most recent complaints over the last few months are all carry over from Fed Loan servicing. Our belief is that as the months go by our level of complaints will significantly be reduced.
