I was previously a customer of Farmers **********************. When they made the decision to exit the market, I was sent a proposal from Slide. Without my authorization or consent, Slide attempted to bill my escrow account for a policy that was almost 300% higher than my previous policy. This sort of behavior is absolutely unacceptable and is predatory. Slide should need affirmative consent to reassign a policy and bill for it. I will be contacting the State Attorney General as well as the Office of Insurance Regulation to complain about these deceptive tactics.Slide Insurance Company Response

Slide requested funds to be paid out from my escrow account prior to the expiration date, without my consent and without a policy in hand. I was given no time to accept or decline. This predatory tactic will be turned into the Attorney General. The regulatory requirements are gray until thousands of people file the same complaint. The burden of proof is on the Corporation not the Consumer. Please provide contact information that is accessible to the consumer as many of us have paid out of pocket to another insurance provider and expect a full refund given the fact that our current insurance policy has not yet expired.Slide Insurance Company Response

After assuming my old UPC policy, Slide insurance, without my consent, authorization, signature, or anything else, automatically sent a declaration page and billed my mortgage company for an annual premium. All this while I had already secured homeowners insurance from another provider! This has caused incredible damage to my escrow account. This is outrageous.. I expect a full refund as I never signed any authorization to whatever offer they claim to have sent. I will take this up with the attorney general if necessary. I have now paid two providers for homeowners insurance for the past year because Slide deviously pulled from my escrow account without my consent. Hello Tom, Thank you for bringing your experience to our attention. On 2/1/2023 we purchased the renewal rights to many of the policies that UPC was liquidating. If you received a policy from Slide, that means that UPC still had you listed as a policyholder. We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. Our intention is to provide a policy to everyone who was listed as needing coverage.

My homeowner's insurance went from (UPC) $2400 a year (sold to Slide) to $11,500 a year! What? This company is insane and should not be operating. This has to be illegal.Slide Insurance Company Response

We understand that the rate difference between ours and UPCs is frustrating. To provide some context, UPC did not just leave the state, they went into receivership. They did not charge adequate rates to maintain financial stability and a full reinsurance program to back them after a storm like Hurricane Ian. Slide extended coverage for UPC policyholders that would have otherwise been canceled and kept the rates the same for the remainder of the policy. Renewal offers reflect Slide’s rates, which are structured to ensure that we can maintain financial stability and protect our policyholders in the event of a large loss event.
There are many factors that go into rates and your independent agent can advise you on your best options moving forward.

We open a claim with Slide. They destroyed our bathroom. Denied our claim and left our bathroom destroyed and they will not fix what they destroyed.We talked to and advocate but Slide refuses to help or even fix anything. We are very unhappy. We paid premiums for coverage but they refuse to even try to resolve. We are looking to leave but now they have drafted our account before our policy has renewed!Slide Insurance Company Response

I also have been charged $9000.00 to my mortgage company by Slide Insurance. There was no notification to any changes to my previous policy of $1800.00. My payment has now increased by $2000.00 a month with no notice. I am getting the run around on why my policy increased by this amount. I am now at risk of losing my home over the next year if this is not rectified. The Insurance Commissioner for the state of Florida needs to stop this!Slide Insurance Company Response

Slide Company sent to my mortgage company an insurance quote without my authorization. I did not sign any paperwork authorizing them to do so. My Mortgage company paid them without asking me. Now I'm in the process of getting my money back. This is to me, like pick pocketing me, because we, as consumers, have the right to go out to the market place and shop around to get the best deal possible for our budget. This is imposing something on the customer. I got another quote for more than $1,100.00 less a year than SLIDE is charging me!Slide Insurance Company Response

This company was suppose to send and OFFER but instead sent an unauthorized bill (4x my current rate!?!) to my mortgage company THEN to me. Mortgage company of course paid without my knowledge until it was all said and done. Has been over a month fighting back and forth with both slide and my mortgage company trying to get this money back. They say they do it to make it EASIER and LESS hassle. However, this process and all interactions with SLIDE have been nothing but headache and pain!! They need to stop AUTO signing people up WITHOUT their consent!!Slide Insurance Company Response

Shortly after Farmers announced they were leaving the ****************, Slide Insurance and Farmers reached an agreement to provide continued home insurance coverage options for Farmers policyholders in *******. That means that all ******* Farmers homeowners (HO3 and HO6) policyholders will receive a renewal offer from Slide Insurance. You should have gotten a letter from Farmers about the above, but please let us know if you didnt.
Its also important to note that your Slide quote is only an offer to continue coverage. We recommend that you speak with your independent insurance agent, who can help give you all the options so that you can make an informed decision.Customer Response

Please, you guys play fast and loose. The sad fact is if you had been open and honest, I would have been happy to accept a quote, instead you just send a policy over that was not requested and expected to get paid, Today you guys sent a policy adjustment lowering the cost of the first policy by over $800 hoping I would pay now! I would never do business with your company.
