I took advantage of Hoffman's special for AC tune up in October, mainly to get my filter changed and drain line flushed. Their inspection concluded there was mold in the system and I needed a $2000 light system to kill the mold, I declined. In December I heard rattling from the AC system, upon inspection I saw that the filter door was loose and falling off, air from the attic was getting into the system. From what I could tell it had only been taped on one of the four sides. I called Hoffman to correct the issue, luckily they were able to come out the same day. Ray arrived and I watched as he re-attached the filter door and taped it up well. He informed me the door clips, which are supposed to hold the door in place, were broken. This I already knew as we had been using aluminum foil tape to hold and seal the door for several years. I asked if we could replace the clips, he said they were unavailable. Ray's recommendedation was to remove and replace the entire filtering system. He provided me with a quote for $1795 minus $216 discount ($1579) to install a new filter system. I asked him directly "You are recommending replacing the entire filter system because the door clips are broken?", to which his response was "Yes". So thanks to Hoffman for coming out to fix what you didn't do right the first time, but sorry I can't recommend a company who behaves this way.
