In March 2022 I gave Bishop's Aluminum Service a deposit of $2031 and signed a proposal for a lanai patio and enclosure extension. We then modified the original proposal in April 2022 at which time I gave them an additional $1737 deposit. In May 2022 I paid the entire cost of the new flooring $4538 since it was custom travertine pavers. On August 30, 2022 Bishop's Aluminum showed up to install the screen enclosure and I had to stop them because they brought the wrong type of screen enclosure. We had discussed and agreed upon numerous times that I would be getting the clear view screen with no obstructions or chair rail, and on the day of installation they showed up with a standard cage. Since it was not what we had discussed or what I had ordered, I had them immediately return it and take it with them. Over the past couple of days I have reached out to them repeatedly to resolve this issue, but was met with rude condescending responses and no return phone calls just as I had experienced throughout the entire process. I asked repeatedly to be put in contact with one of the Owners, but the Manager and Receptionist both blocked these requests and would not escalate this issue for me any further. Bishop's Aluminum reached out to me one last time and said that they could make the correction for an additional cost and an extra 6 weeks to our completion time. By this time my experience with ******** had been so awful and ridiculous I just wanted to be done with them and requested a refund. They told me I was not entitled to any refund because of the expenses they incurred for producing the WRONG screen enclosure. As you can see from the enclosed documentation and picture I paid a total of $8306 and did not receive anything more than the flooring, which costed $4538. This is why I'm requesting a refund of $3768 since that deposit was for the construction of a screen enclosure which I never received.

    Business Response

****************** has been contacted several times, last Friday September 2 being the latest with messages left and unreturned.  No where on the contract signed by ****************** was a "Open View" or " Clear View" cage quoted.  As our contract clearly states, only what is written in the contract is part of the contract.  A full detailed account summary is being prepared for ****************** now that we in fact know he does not want a redesign of his contracted cage.  This will be provided to him this week.  ****************** is by contract and law not entitled to any refund solely due to his changing his mind on what he contracted for with Bishops Aluminum.

In our 33 years in business, we have always treated our customers in a fair and professional manner, this will not change in ********************** case.  We will request a reimbursement for the cost of the cage permitted, designed, and built under the contract we have with ****************** as this is only fair and reasonable.

I am rejecting this response because:

A clearview cage was the ONLY thing I ever discussed with Bishop's Aluminum, no other type of cage was ever even considered. My neighbor has the exact same clearview cage that we repeatedly discussed and referenced throughout the process. I was never provided with any drawings to approve prior to the construction of the cage, my Salesperson even confirmed this with me and admitted that he was going to do that (provide drawings for approval) with every customer going forward to avoid another mistake like this one. Bishop's Aluminum only reached out to me on Friday September 2nd AFTER I informed them that I had decided to go with another company to finish this project. Their statement about professionalism is laughable, over the course of the past 5 months their Salesperson, Staff and Manager did not return my phone calls. I repeatedly asked to speak to an Owner but was told that I could not speak with him because he is now "retired". They purposely shielded me from escalating this matter to anyone above the Office Manager.

This project and Bishop's Aluminum has been a disaster from the beginning. They showed up late and unannounced at every stage of the project. Their contractors began digging a footing that was 10' x 18' while my new lanai extension was to be 15' x 22'. Luckily, I was home to catch the mistake and correct it before it went any further. After another two week delay because they were short on pavers, the contractors prepped and poured cement for the door in the wrong location. Again, luckily I was present and noticed the mistake so that it could be corrected right away.

I want people to be aware of my terrible experience with Bishop's Aluminum so that they are not subjected to the same treatment.

    Sincerely,

    *************************

I would like to add a comment to a recent complaint that I filed with the BBB against Bishops Aluminum. They corrected everything, made it all right and completed the job.
