1 starI have used this company for 25 years. In the last two years, I have had 2 services on different garage doors. In addition to high costs last year, the *** dropped something on my flooring and put a ***** in the flooring. I did get in touch with the ** and received a partial reimbursement for the cost of my flooring ***air bill.Based on this, I was happy that they "did the right thing" and negotiated with me to rectify my issue. This past week, I had scheduled a service call for another garage door issue. I explained that we had a power outage, was not sure that was related. But I explained the only working opener was on the wall and the door opened with too much and too little force when it did activate. Service man came out and corrected the force issue and then said the back up battery was bad. He said he had batteries and when showing me the cost of $225. He said it had a 10 year warranty. I have never had a battery in ******* last 10 years thinking this must be special. When inquired about warranty in writing he stated it will be on the invoice. I reviewed the warranty information on my email and found nothing. I called and spoke to the same ** who took care of my issue last year. LEARNED only 1 year warranty. This is price gouging as highest price found on any OEM Battery. The ** gave me numbers and was willing to give me AG of Florida's number stating he deals with them all the time. I wanted to ***ort this as price gouging. He stated the *** was misinformed. Not willing to take any corrective action. Had I ordered this same battery direct from the manufacturer or any other store it would have been MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE. NO RETURNS to Precision, This did not include additional charge for adjustment/***rogramming. I believe in fair wage for service received, but I also expect good customer **********************. Shame on me for giving them another chance. NOT ANYMORE. WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THEM AGAIN.Precision Overhead Garage Door Service of Sarasota

We have already addressed this issue with this customer and there is not a successful resolution to be offered. But to start from the previous years visit, after we completed the repair and left the house this customer later claimed that our technician put a gouge in her floor in the middle of her garage after she heard a loud noise while in her house and then checked the next day and discovered the gouge. She submitted pictures in to the general manager. The pictures showed a gouge however it would have not been possible for the springs, or any item we use or carry, to fall in the center of the floor. We replaced torsion springs on that last visit and these can not be removed in any way from the middle of the garage and have to be taken off the torsion tube from the ends and over the side of the track. Even so we offered a $100 refund in good faith to this customer to keep her happy even though it was a physical impossibility for the damage to occur as suggested. For this latest visit after our inspection of the door, the customer ended up needing a new battery back up system installed and also needed her motor reset and programmed. She called our call center and set up a time frame for our technician to come to her house to solve her problems. We did not charge our standard service fee to this customer which is $79.95. This was waived for her since she ended up needing other work. After we provided her the options to repair her motor and reprogram the unit we completed the work, charged her for the agreed up pricing and then left her with a working garage door and a brand new battery back up system. This customer wants us to only charge her the same price that she found her battery online for and not charge her for us coming out to her house, diagnosing her issues, offering solutions and options, removing the old battery, installing the new battery and then resetting her motor limit settings for her all for the retail price of the battery she found online. The customer also stated that if she would have known what the problem was she would have fixed the problem herself. She was also informed that part of the cost of our service is because our professionally trained technicians know what they are doing and can properly and accurately diagnose issues. The customer then had a complaint about us telling her we have a 10 year warranty when we do not have anything that would be covered by a ten year warranty. It is not that we chose to not give her that type of warranty it is just not an option that we can even offer. The warranties can not be switched by technicians and the warranty verbiage in our systems can not be altered or changed by any technician. The customer was informed that manufacturer's do sometimes have longer warranties than we may have and that any manufacturer's warranties that are extended past our warranty would need to be handled through the manufacturer. The customer was provided the manufacturer's information. The customer mentioned price gouging however we have not had any price changes or price improvements in our entire garage door price book since June of 2023. I did email the customer the manufacturers information and when she again mentioned price gouging I did inform her I would be happy to also provide her information to contact AG Ashley M, all of which information is easily obtained online. We do have a great working relationship with all of our local and state government entities and have never had any issues at all since we have been in business in the State Of Florida. Unfortunately this is now the second time that pricing has become an issue after we complete work with this customer and her request to charge her only retail pricing for an online battery is not a practical request. We do wish this customer luck with her future garage door needs but unfortunately we will no longer be able to provide her the exceptional service our company offers.Kathy M

Thx for follow up. There are two sides to every story, the incident last year is defended by pictures. I could continue to defend myself, sometimes just best to end the relationship. Clearly this type of business is not regulated.I did not expect to obtain a battery at amazon price, but I do believe 225 is truly gouging. The discount they provide is clearly advertised in yellow page ad. Enough said. We both do agree time to dissolve a working relationship.Happy HolidaysReview fromBarbara C

1 starNew garage door installed Feb 6, 2024 as well as a new opener. Invested just short of $5,000. Opened my garage door Feb 23, 2024 and heard a pop. The screw on the ceiling brace broke loose. Called the service number because they do advertise technicians work 24/7. Was told they would come out on Monday Feb 26 earliest appointment. The lady sent me confirmation email but it was a previous email confirming an appointment on Tuesday Feb 6; 2024 the installation. Are you kidding me!! I will attempt to replace the screw myself and hopefully never have to do business with them again after my warranty is up! Unacceptable business do not advertise service calls 24/7 if you do not honor your ads. I will never refer anyone to them! My name is ******* *****Precision Overhead Garage Door Service of Sarasota

Thank you for reaching out with concern for you door install that was completed on January 29, ****. Unfortunately we do not provide service technicians 24/7 nor do we advertise that we are capable of such. I have attached our main website link below for reference of what we advertise in which it does state "All Calls Answered 24/7" which can be found by scrolling down to the bottom part of the home page. (**************************). We do offer same day service but this is based on availability so I do apologize for the misinformation of the services we do offer on a 24/7 basis but hopefully that was able to clarify and rectify that issue. As far as the request for service is concerned, we were notified of a problem with the door late afternoon on Friday, February 23, ****. Due to our schedules being completely full and booked multiple days out we did not have any availability this past weekend. Both our service technicians and installation technicians were at or over capable booking capacity for this past weekend, with all of our emergency slots filled as well. We were able to accommodate this customer on our absolute next availability which was first thing on Monday morning. To accomplish this we moved another one of our calls off of our schedule to make room for this call as this was a more pressing issue. The customer did state they would never use our company again and would fix the problem herself but the customer kept the appointment and our installation technician arrived at the house on Monday February 26, **** at 8:23AM. Upon arrival he found that the track bolt on the back of the horizontal track had physically broke. This is a very uncommon issue as it involved a steel bolt breaking that is sent from the door manufacturer specifically designed to secure this portion of the track. As this was clearly a product defect, we were able to honor this customer's warranty and fix the issue with absolutely no charge. The new steel bolt was installed and everything is working as it should. We are sorry to hear that *************** will "never refer anyone to them!" as this is very disheartening because as a small, family owned, local company we do continually strive to provide excellent service to our customers. We are more than happy to discuss anything further with *************** through our General Manager at ************ but this situation has been completely rectified and no further action is needed on our part. While we do not agree with the one star rating we understand that it can be frustrating when something does not work but we do employ human beings that do have both work lives and home lives and work hours and schedules that we must respect. Sometimes the way the schedule works out we just don't physically have anyone or availability to immediately fix every single garage issue same day.Review fromWilliam K

1 starOn December 18, 2023 I contacted “Precision Garage Doors” after seeing their advertisement on TV. I wanted an estimate to repair the garage door that my tenant backed into at my rental property in Naples, Florida. I was told a 26-point inspection would be $79.95 plus additional labor. The enclosed email appointment confirmation is attached. It states that the person coming to the house will have his/her photo on this confirmation sheet, and the technician will be wearing a uniform. The Person who came to my property was not wearing a uniform, but was wearing black gym/boxer shorts, a black T-shirt with a small logo, and black baseball cap. He identified himself as “Luke”. His photo was not on the appointment confirmation email; however, Luke was listed as “Star Office Assistant”, NOT as a technician. Luke came into my garage for about 60 seconds and said “I’m going to my truck to write an estimate on my I-pad”. I asked about the 26-point inspection, and he said, “I ALREADY DID IT IN MY HEAD”. Luke tightened the chain on the door opener and also used a hammer to pound on a roller. The garage door did appear to raise somewhat better after pounding on the roller. Luke showed me an I-pad with lots of things I didn’t understand (I’m 82 years old). He then showed me a blank screen with a box and told me I had to sign in the box. I said I would not sign blank box without knowing what I was signing. Luke then threatened to “loosen the chain, so the opener won’t work” if I didn’t sign the box. Under duress I signed the box, and he left my property. I called the company and asked to speak to the manager who conveniently was “not in the office”. The company then sent me an email statement stating that the garage door was “fixed”, and the chain was “tightened”, total cost with labor $169.95. I would NEVER use “Precision Garage Door” again, and I want to warn others about this company.Precision Overhead Garage Door Service of Sarasota

Thank you for the review. I am glad that you received or email about our technician coming to your house in which we do require our technicians to wear a uniform which consists of a black t-shirt with our logo, black or dark grey colored shorts, and a black baseball hat that the techs can choose to wear. This is our uniform. The confusing first part of the complaint is that you describe the uniform perfectly but state that he did not have on the uniform. We also have our technicians pictured in the uniform on our website. From your description I am glad to hear that our technician did in fact have his proper attire on so we do appreciate you clarifying that and even noting that the uniform did contain our logo. **** is one of our technicians and the appointment was confirmed at booking by on of our office staff members and her name is **** and her title is office assistant. Our technicians do a visual inspection on the doors prior to starting any work so they can properly estimate the work and parts needed to build their estimate which they typically will do in the comfort of their work vehicle so they can sit and properly type everything out. So again thank you for confirming that our technician was properly getting an estimate built. After he returned back to your garage **** presented you with three options for repair. What you described as "lots of things I didn't understand", those were all of the notes and the pass/fail from the safety inspection that he completed on his ipad. After you made your decision the technician will click the button on the repair option the customer chooses and then it switches to a sign off screen so we can have the customer confirm their selection. So thank you again for confirming that he did properly inform you of your options, allowed you to select the option that was best for you and then had you sign off on the option you chose as to alleviate any confusion on which option you wanted. You also stated that you were not able to speak with a manager when you called in however on our recorded lines we were able to confirm your conversations both with my office manager **** and then with my technician/operations manager *** and both did identify themselves to you. As for the pricing you mentioned our service call for a technician to arrive to a customer's house in $79.95 in which you were told this on the recorded line at the time of booked when our call center representative stated:
"We have a service fee is $79.95 plus parts which includes the technician coming out with a fully stocked truck and completing a 25 point safety inspection. The tech will give you an exact quote on any repairs before starting work".
You chose to have the minimal service done at your house so the minimum labor fee we have is $90. This was the selection you chose while we were on site and was the most economical option. You did chose to not have any of the other recommended work done while we were on site which sometimes customers do not choose to fix everything but we did make you aware of the repairs needed and emailed them to you.
The technicians notes were emailed with the quotes but I included them below for your reference.
"Customer request and inspection on the door. After further inspection found that the chain needs to be tightened also found that bottom seal is dry and rotting as well as the rollers are metal and binding, door is also in need of lubrication. Gave customer pricing for labor and options for replacement of bottom seal and rollers."
Thank you for the review.
