On 10.2.25 i made a debit pin purchase of $140 for scratch off lottery tickets at palmers east store. The clerk tried to tell me the charge didnt go through and I showed him the charge did go through in my regions app. The clerk wanted me to swipe my card again and I refused and left the store. 10 mins later another debit pin charge of $140 was charged to my account. I immediately called my bank and cancelled my card and I called the store and spoke to the clerk ***** working at that time and he said it was a known system issue and I would see both charges fall off my account after processing. The two $140 charges never dropped off my account so I filed a dispute with my bank which was not resolved due to the purchases showing as debit pin purchases. On ******** i filed the dispute again with my bank regions as fraud, so it is still pending. This store used my debit card and pin while I was not physically in the store on 10.2.25. That should not be possible. On 10.11.25 I went to the store to talk to the owner Izzy with my friend as a witness and attempted to get my money back and he refused. I am filing this complaint to get my $140 back and this store should not be able to submit a debit pin purchase when a customer is not in physically in the **********************. That is fraud. On 10.2.25 My debit card was swiped once and my pin was enter once by me. The 2nd charge around 10 mins after the initial charge was fraud and I was not at the store when it was submitted. I did not get a receipt for the transaction. I will attach to this complaint screenshots of the double charges from my bank and if needed i can email a bank statement. Even if my bank resolves this issue and gets my $140 back I would like something to be done about this business being able to run a debit pin purchase without a customer physically at the **********************. Please feel free to contact me for anything needed for this. BBB complaint. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/17/2025

On 10/2/2025 around 6PM the customer stopped at the gas station,  he purchased $140 of lottery tickets using his debit card he left the store before the approval of his debit card purchase.  My employee ran after the customer and told him that the transaction did not go throw, the customer looked at his phone and told my employee that the transaction is pending with his bank and left.  My employee hade to by the $140 dollar out of his pocket because the transaction did not go throw.  On 10/11/2025 the customer came back and said that his bank is showing two transactions of $140 on that day from our store, I printed the detail batch report and showed the customer that there was no $140 charge on the report around the time he was here, so he still owes my employee the $140 and I do not know where did the glitch happened with his bank or the processing company but I know we did not get Ower money from him.  If you have any question you could call me at ************.

    Thank you

I am rejecting this response because the response is wrong. I paid for the merchandise on 10.2.25 and i have provided proof of double charge in my initial BBB complaint. I showed your clerk the same thing. I was NOT swiping my card again. I have 2 pin purchase charges of $140 posted to my account. When the 2nd fraudulent pin charge of $140 was submitted I was 1.2 miles away from palmers at another store using the same card. How can I be 2 places at once? Those 2 charges were 1 minute apart too, which proves i was not at palmers when the 2nd fraudulent pin charge was submitted. You should not be able to run a pin purchase without the customer in the ********************** entering their pin. My bank is not the issue, your system is the issue. I dont owe you or your employee any money. When I tried to tried to resolve this in person you admitted to charging my card again and when I called Tariq before coming to the store to see you, why did he tell me getting double charged was a known system issue and I would see both charges drop off after processing? If both charges dropped I would've gladly come back to the store and resolved this issue. At the end of the day you charged me $280 for $140 worth of merchandise and used my debit pin without me being physically in the store because you thought I didnt pay and that is fraud.

    Better Business Bureau:

Please close my complaint or mark it resolved? The store owner decided to refund my money. I'm not sure what changed to cause him to do this, because he did not contact me, the money just showed up in my bank account and my bank said it was the owner, so I am going to take the win.

    Sincerely,
