I registered a new business with the state of Florida and received my Articles of Organization. This was on June 12th. On June 16th, I received a letter from FL Document Services. I opened it on June 18th and found that the document is encouraging me to pay to get my Certificate of Status which is needed in various different scenarios for a business and I followed the ** provided and enter by business, name, and payment information and processed the payment for $133.50. Afterwards I felt suspicious about the document and did research and found it that the document isn't from an official government entity, federal, local, or state. I then contacted my bank asking for a refund and was the meet with the response "We cannot file a claim for this is you made the payment yourself and approved it at the time". I tried going to FL Document Services website at *************************** and clicked on the "Refunds" blue hyperlink. I was then prompted to enter my email address, business name and message in order to submit the request for refund. I entered all that information along with checking off a CAPTCHA box to prove that I'm not a robot. I then clicked Submit to where it then asked for a "Company Code" which was on the original letter I received. I put the company code on the original letter addressed to my business and the clicked Submit to where the webpage just refreshed. I repeetaed the last step about half a dozen times with the same outcome. No contact information is listed on the website so I have no other means of communication other than mail which I will be sending a letter to the address listed provided through ****** and letter I received. FL Documents LLC intentionally sends out documents to newly registered businesses sending them official looking documents appearing to look like it's from a government entity enticing new business owners to send money for business documents that are available for no cost, or a very cheap cost compared to what's charged.Business Response

You have already been assisted directly via email. There is no secret or information that you need to find online in order to determine the services we offer or who we are (or are not) affiliated with. We make it very clear on our correspondence who we are and even go as far as to provide a lengthy disclosure outlining that we are not affiliated with a government agency and how you can contact them if you so wish. I'm starting my own LLC and received letters in the mail from the Business ******************* in *********** as well as from FL Document Services. The Letter is for ordering minimum wage posters and the company certificate of status. FL Document Services' letter is nearly identical to the letter from ***********. There is a small box of fine print text in the corner that states they are not affiliated with the state - this was very easy to miss and I missed it. They are charging significantly higher prices for these items. I went to their website to request a refund, which I did through a very basic contact form that I filled out. I called the phone number found online (it was not listed anywhere on the letter) which goes straight to a voicemail box that advises that it is not monitored. We answered your email within 24 hours of receipt. I am not sure how quickly you expect companies to provide you with a response, but please be reasonable with your expectations. Our records indicate that your refund request was already processed and that we responded to you via email. Business ******************* in *********** is just a different company that is not associated with our business, but has copied our correspondence (this is why the letters look similar). They also have no affiliation with the State of *******. There is nothing further we can do for you at this time as you have already been helped.

I spoke with another Business Owner that told me these letters being sent out are a Scam so I did not pay it. Our business is as legitimate as any other. We offer services and document processing for business owners. If you don't need our services then don't pay for them - there is no trick or scam. Our letters contain a disclosure making it clear that you don't HAVE to pay for anything we provide. Reading is simple, so anyone confused about our services or company may lack simple reading comprehension skills. That doesn't make our company a scam. Best wishes in your endeavors.

Hello, I wanted to take a moment to thank those who have shared their experiences regarding misleading letters targeting new LLC owners. Your posts have been invaluable in raising awareness about these deceptive practices, and I hope my own experience can contribute to helping others.After recently establishing my own LLC, I began receiving various letters from unknown companies disguised as official state correspondence. These documents often include bills, invoices, and statements with urgent-sounding "notice dates," leading one to believe immediate action is required.For instance, I recently received a letter from FL Document Services, which claimed I needed to pay $133.50 by 12/19/2024. The statement included a document ID, QR code, and other features designed to mimic official government communications. Everything about this letter was misleading. It suggested payment was necessary to obtain my business certificate, despite the fact that the certificate had already been emailed to me during the application process.What makes these communications particularly concerning is their lack of transparency. The letter omitted "LLC" after the company's name, making it appear as though it was from the State of Florida. If not for paying close attention, I might have fallen victim to this ******* help others, I am reporting this incident to ensure awareness and caution among other business owners. Glad you are feeling empowered! Unfortunately, you've misquoted and misrepresented several facts in your complaint. We don't send a statement of invoice, nothing in our letter says that you owe anything or that you must purchase anything from us. If you received your Certificate during your application process, it is because you chose to pay for it and they provided it. Our letter includes a disclaimer a paragraph long on the top that clearly states we have no affiliation with the state. Our business operates under all legal practices and is a legitimate document service company. If you've never done business with our company then you have no basis for a complaint.

I have checked my emails numerous times and checked again to make sure and I cant find anything from your company, I want a refund sent to my home address. How can they be so assertive when they did not provide any evidence. If the document was indeed sent by the FL Secretary of State, I should have received it either by mail or email. If they are so affirmative, they should contact the FL Secretary of State and find out why I did not receive the document for which I paid $133.50. I just noticed that this business does not even have an address other than that of a **** branch with a PO box number. The number of complaints against this business ******* for itself. I got a letter in the mail from these people after the formation of my LLC, *******'s ***************** The letter seemed like a real charge for a real service, so I paid it, thinking it was needed to make my business a legally standing one. But this is obviously not the case. These people prey on those who don't know any better, and then have the audacity to try to blame the victims. I only paid $133.50, but they also try to get another $75 or so out of the people who fall for this unfortunate scam. Even if it is a real service, I paid for the "service" under false pretenses, and I do not WANT this "service", so I want my money back.They claim you can go to their website and request a refund, but you have to input a "company code" on the website, which they never give you. They provide NO point of contact (email, website, phone number, NOTHING.)I am currently disputing the charge with my bank, but I would rather this get fixed sooner than later. I called their number *************, which is NOT on the document, I only know it because it was listed as their number in my transaction history) multiple times and no one ever answered. The code that you are referencing is on your letter. It is the same code that you had to input when you placed your order online. We don't try to "get" anyone. It is a service provided for new business owners to save time and energy obtaining certain necessary business documents. Our letter also has a disclosure that clarifies it is a solicitation. We do not list a phone number on our letter as our fulfillment department does not accept phone calls. This is why refunds are sent via email. Please utilize the code on your letter to request a refund so that we can further assist you. Additionally, you were provided with a Certificate of Status via email within 48 hours of your order placement so your document has been fulfilled as ordered.

I'm a new business owner, ********************* recently registered w/State of *********** attempted to pay all fees req'd for my business. I rec'd attached letter via mail that's designed to appear very similar to the State of Florida gov't website w/LARGE, ALL CAPS & BOLD font stating 2024 Certificate of Status Request Form plus stressing ******************** w/Deadline "one step left to complete... Certificate of Status" stressing need such to open business loans, accts, etc. Even the ** Code website: fl-ds.biz gives you the impression that this business is affiliated with entities such as Sunbiz. The letter has all of your pertinent information disclosed on it misleading you to believe it's from gov't websites you previously gave all your information in order to register & be in compliance with the Florida law. The company's actual objective/purpose to deceive is evident towards new business owners who are unfortunately ignorant (lack of knowledge) to their game to make a profit on those who are only focusing on just eagerly making sure we're compliant, law-abiding citizens with legal businesses. This environment of manipulation the aforementioned company has condoned to mislead newcomers has made us easy prey to businesses like FL Document Services. I have fallen prey. They have in VERY tiny font saying not affiliated w/govt & this is an advertisement. This strategy used psychology to deflect one's attention towards reading the Large Bold print instead which is human nature. Yes, they argue one should thoroughly read before making a ***** decision to purchase which is accurate, however, on the flip side, one should have moral ethics, be transparent NOT use manipulation. Why not place in Large Bold Letters, '"This is Advertisement"? Hence, giving their clients the choice to use their services with full knowledge of who they are vs us having to search out the truth. My card ending in 6547 was robbed today of $213 from a business called Florida Document Services. Im already seeking legal action but they need to refund my card immediately! If this company claims they are not a REQUIRED service, why are they stealing money from innocent business owners?
