    I hired this company on 6/21/23 to do woodwork in my house. At that time, I paid him half ($1,000) of the cost so he could buy materials. Then on 7/16/23, he requested that I pay him the remaining portion of the job ($1,000) because he stated that he didn't have enough funds to purchase the rest of the materials. On that day, I paid him another $1,000 for a total of $2,000 per the terms of the contract. After the final payment was made, he came twice and completed 80% of the first job. After that, we set up a day and time for him to come to my home and finish the work. We mutually agreed on his coming on 7/19/23, and he disputed that date the day before, stating that it was incorrect. I accommodated that and rescheduled for 7/22/23. Then on 7/22, he no-call/no-showed. After that day, I sent him multiple text messages and made multiple phone calls spanning from July to September, and he never answered back to any of them. I then sent him a text advising him that if I did not hear back from him, I would assume he had no intention of coming and I would take legal action. Once I sent that text message, he called me and stated that he had a lot going on, apologized, and would come on 9/25/23. Then on 9/24/23, I texted him to confirm he was coming on the 25th, and he called me and stated that he was coming and would finish both jobs on that day. Then the following day, he didn't show up again and did not call or text me to let me know why. On that day, 9/25/23, I texted him for the final time saying that he needed to text me and return my money to me, or else I would take legal action against him. I have not heard from him or received a refund since. I am now filing this BBB complaint, and if no results are obtained through this, I will have no other choice but to take legal action. All I wanted originally was for the work to be finished, but unfortunately, it's clear this is not going to happen. I've also missed work to accommodate him since every date chosen was by him.
