I had caps ( for cosmetic purposes) on my teeth for 20 years.. Great Smile Dental redid my caps and destroyed the roots of my teeth . The ****** caps were redone by Great Smile a few years ago. The owner of the facility accepts no responsibility for the disaster created by their work.

I went for an implant consultation and they recommended removing all of my teeth and getting implants. They also said the roots of my teeth are short and some are loose. My primary dentist said my roots are normal compared to their x-ray. They also tried to pressure me, on more than one occasion, into opening a credit card account for financing the implants. It seems they offered the most expensive option before letting me know if they were other less expensive options. I got up and left in anger and they tried to offer me a gift bag, which I refused. My primary dentist told me they don't refer their patients to this practice.

I apologize for any inconvenience, we strive to do the best treatment for the patient. If your teeth are loose with minimal root anatomy the prognosis of treatment lasting is guarded. I stand by the recommendation of our doctor, I suggest you get a second opinion with a periodontist, who is a specialist in the periodontal disease, loose teeth. If you have any questions please contact the office with any questions.

I understand your frustration and when a tooth is worked on you do not know how it will respond. We do not say a root canal is needed unless we are sure, that would be very unethical to just do root canals on teeth that "may" need one in the future. We tried to work with Mrs. ***** on her financials so she could complete the treatment we even offered her other options, to take the back tooth out and only do one root canal but she declined. I understand the frustration she is feeling but their is nothing else we could do that she was willing to do. Please contact the office if you have additional questions.

Upon first visit to great smile dental I was misled. I went there in pain for my tooth, I have insurance, I was told that their plan was better than my insurance. However I did NOT agree to sign up for a credit card. I was told by the lady ****** that she would look at payment options and then discuss. 40 minutes went by and I received a message saying my credit application was approved. I did not consent or give her permission to run my credit. In the end I was in pain and decided to continue on even tho I never said I wanted their care plan. Now I am struggling with debt because of the TWO credit accounts they made me get.I also had to get a crown replaced FOUR times because it wasnt done properly. Ive called several times to get a refund and was told it takes 30 days to do an audit. I havent heard from anyone and I have been calling at least once a week. This is the worst dental practice Ive ever been to. They only care about money.

I initialed and signed a loan form from Great Smile Dental in ************** that required a non refundable deposit of $4000 after 24 hours. I cancelled loan amount of $10,000 within 10 days. Only $6000 was cancelled by GSD. My mistake for not reading DENTAL PLAN. Do I have any recourse to release me from this contract?

    Business Response

    Date: 12/06/2023

In response to this complaint, we have this non refundable deposit in place because as soon as we submit the information to the lab, we acquire the lab bill. In addition to the time to collect all of the data for the lab, photos, impressions, scans, ect. I understand if someone changes their mind to move forward with treatment, however what was completed must be paid for. Once teeth are made for you specifically, there is no way we can return item. I hope this explains why this non refundable fee is in place. If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to contact the office. Thank you

March 2022, I called Great Smile Dental asking if they were in network with my Guardian dental plan- they said yes so I asked to be scheduled with an in network dr for my annual exam. April 2022, during my exam, I was told I needed a deep scale cleaning and was told I needed to pay for it in advance $256.20 which I did, Afterwards, I contacted the office asking for a refund of the $256.20 for the deep scale cleaning that I paid for on 4/1/22 because I had changed my mind and no longer wanted that procedure, They said OK the refund would be processed and I was scheduled for a regualr cleaning. At the regular cleaning appointment the hygentist was pressuring me to do the deep scale cleaning and I continuously said no that is to be refunded I had already spoke with the billing person- I just need a regular cleaning. Halfway through the regular cleaning she kept insisting, so we stopped midpoint and I left without the regular cleaning being completed. ***** later no refund, I tried to work with the office and this went on until 2023, still no refund. In 2023, I returned for yet another regular cleaning and the exact same thing happened except this time we never started the cleaning, I asked again for a refund for the deep scaling they said they would process and I left. I made my request for a full refund and to speak with the Billign Manager and Practice Manager mostly verbally and once by email 11/2/2023. My bank recently said a refund of $121.20 was coming through from the dental practice and not the amount of $256.20 that I paid. On 11/3/2023, I called and was told neither of those managers are available and that they didn't know why I was refunded partiallly and shorted $135. I called my dental provider and they stated that I had no outstanding claims and recommended that I file a formal complaint since the facility is not responding.

***BBB Has Received The Updated Information From Consumer***

I filed some complaints online regarding this matter as a way to protect the next patient.  Also, I called the dental office yesterday and finally they refunded me the balance of my payment from 2022.

I visited this establishment on 06/05/23 to check my top dentures. They took ex rays and told me my bottom teeth will need dentures as well, when I told them that I wasn't in there for my bottom dentures. A woman came in who I assume is the closer for these issues and again, I told her I wasn't in there for my bottom teeth, I wanted to know if I needed to get another set for my top. When she gave me an insane price for the bottom dentures, I told her I can't afford that. She then proceeded to tell me that I can get a card that will help me pay for it. I let her know I did that once before 3 years ago and don't want a card. She said, well lets see if you even qualify so I said yes. I knew I wasn't going to get it even if I did qualify. About a month later I received an email from Equifax saying I had a new card added to my account. When I looked, I saw that it was opened by someone at the dentist office. I called them up and was told I signed an authorization form which I in turn told them it wasn't to get the card but only to see if I qualify. They sent me the form and I noticed the top part wasn't filled in by me but it did have my signature. I feel like someone committed a fraud by telling me it was for qualification but it was actually to get me the card. I called, and left a message and also emailed the office asking for the woman's name who I spoke with and no one will reply to me. I don't know if I should have the card canceled because that will go against my credit, but I do think this place should be investigated for other people they did this to. If you look at the reviews on this place, you will see they are all negative and were also charged high amounts and credit cards opened without approval as well. I am attaching the form they are saying I signed and feel like I was misled. This is the name of the company they opened the card with. Alphaeon Credit Card COMENITYCAPITALBANK/ALPH

I completely understand your frustration. When needing extensive work it can be very overwhelming. I do see all of the documents that you are speaking of, we do help fill out the information and have the patient sign just as a customer service to the patient. When applying for financing if you are approved it will open an account, but nothing is added until you agree to the treatment. Patients are our number one priority and this is why we send all of the papers home with the patient and have them sign everything.

I completely understand your frustration. When we discuss treatment originally you had not seen the orthodontist specialist, so once you see the specialist they have the final say in treatment. However, I understand you have invested a lot of money so I will have a treatment plan coordinator reach out to you so we can resolve this.

We understand dental treatment can be overwhelming, especially if the patient has a lot of damage to the dentition. At the first visit their is a lot of detailed information, this is why we have strict guidelines and paper work to be filled out and signed by all parties. ******** came into the office for a second consultation with our periodontist to ask questions about concerns she had with the upcoming procedure. After the doctor explained the process and addressed any concerns it was under consent that ******** was moving forward with the treatment. If we do not complete dental work we have no problem refunding the money, if we are aware the patient does not want to proceed or continue the treatment. In this scenario ******** had data sent out for the fabrication of prosthesis, so this portion of treatment is due in full. Any remainder of pre payment will be refunded. I encourage patients to reach out to the office and team so they may assist with any miscommunication or uncertainty with treatment. A team member will reach out to ******** to make sure any additional questions or concerns are addressed.
