  When you find a company that does a really good job you really want to let everyone know. I first purchased a pair of glasses from Hip Optical as a backup. I paid a lot of money from a 'big brand' provider (I am not going to say who it is). I did not want to spend the money on a second pair so I decided to look for a 'cheaper' online company. I found Hip Optical and purchased from them. In both cases I purchased progressive glasses. My first positive surprise came when I received my Hip Optical glasses before my 'big brand' glasses came. Hip Optical was at my door in less than a week and the 'big brand' was just over three weeks. My 'big brand' glasses did not quite seem as clear as from Hip Optical. I also noticed that I had to look down a very specific way. With the Hip Optical glasses I could read like normal, including to the side. This made reading my books so much more comfortable. I decided to investigate why. I discovered that my 'big brand' store glasses used a product called Polycarbonate and Hip Optical used a premium lens with much higher clarity; and trust me it is. I also discovered that the 'big brand' store used a non digital process to make the lenses and they came from offshore (no wonder it took three weeks to get them). Hip Optical used a digital process to make my glasses and made them right here in the USA. That is why they were so much faster. Today I only use my Hip Optical glasses and i keep my 'big brand' glasses as a backup. I only paid $199 bucks for them and that included everything (AR and all the coatings). I was not 'nickel and dime-d' at all. I am a senior and money is precious to me. The big brand guys kept adding stuff and I ended up paying $762. More for 'this and that' it was crazy. After my next appointment at the doctors office I am just going to get my prescription and order more glasses form the Hip guys. It is true that US made products are better. If you have read this far than buy a pair.

  Update to my review. Hip Optical has personally reached out to me and are giving me a full refund and an offer to give me the correct prescription lenses and frames. After a thorough discussion, I appreciate the effort in educating me, as a first time prescription glasses customer, on terminology which caused confusion on my prescription. We do not know what created the confusion between which company I was using but I appreciate all HIP is doing to not only figure out what happened but to resolve my problem and get me into a pair of correct prescription glasses for me. I am beyond satisfied with the current response from HIP Optical in resolving my issue.
