I flew down from ** and I purchased a 2014 ******** GL550 with ******* miles suv on 4/15/23 for $20k. I was told that everything is good with the vehicle there were no disclaimers of any mechanical problems. I was not offered an extended warranty the day of the purchase so I did not purchase one. The very next day (sunday) the check engine light came on and I went to Autozone and got a printout that there is a misfire. I went to cadillac dealer the morning after which was the morning I was leaving ******* to drive the vehicle back home to **. They cleared the engine light and told me it was nothing major and everything was ok. I drove home to ** and the engine light returned and has been on since. I brought the vehicle to have it diagnosed at the ******** dealer in Hungington ******** and after a $934 diagnostic, they told me the engine has major issues and the solve for it would be to remanufacture the engine. They gave me a quote of $33k in parts and $7k in labor to fix this issue. They specifically stated that this issue is something that has been pending and is nothing that could have happened in the period since my purchase. They were honest enough to say off the record that this vehicle should have been an auction vehicle and not for sale at a dealer. It has been three weeks since this purchase and I am stuck with a vehicle that I paid close to book value for that needs an engine. I have not even received my registration and plates for this vehicle and I cannot even get my local inspection done because of this engine problem so I will be unable to drive it. I did purchase it as is, but this vehicle is a lemon and should not have been sold at a dealer. I am a victim here because I choose to buy from a reputable car dealer not expecting this terrible experience to happen. I spoke with two sales managers from Sheehan and they are not willing to help at all because it was an as is sale and I did not buy extended warranty. Totally unfair as a buyer. Please help!
