      Buyer Beware! American Van Lines is a con operation. Estimated cost at the outset was a massive underestimate, as the service **** base cost on number of estimated items but the *** did not ask for all the items to be moved. For example, the *** asked about the number of beds to be shipped but did not bother to also mention that mattresses and box springs count as separate items. **************** never bothered to call and let me know my exact pick up date. I had to call multiple times to get an answer, only to be told that they had to contract out to another carrier because their own driver wouldnt arrive during pick-up window agreed to. The contracted carrier then required an additional $4500 in payment because the initial quote based on number of my items to be moved was so poorly estimated for reasons mentioned above. The contracted carrier then put my belongings in storage where they have sat for two weeks, instead of staying on the moving truck to make its way across the country to my new home. Now my belongings will be arriving at least one or more weeks late. My assigned customer service *** ignores emails and calls, essentially failing to provide any service at all. American Van Lines is a horribly run business. Avoid them at all cost!

      Do NOT use this company. They did not go into one of two storage units and left the items there. Then they lied about delivering them. My items are still there and now I have to pay another company to move these. Liars and ganevs. You have been properly warned.

      Dont even want to give one star!! Never use this company! Poor communication and professionalism. Never returned phone calls or emails!! Couldnt provide a fixed moving date!! *************** was a SCAM!!!

      Terrible company - DO NOT USE. Scammers. The pick-up seemed to go OK by the driver *******, but then ******* told us that he couldn't take more than half our stuff because it wasn't on his list. It appears that the woman who contacted us the week before from the company failed to provide the updated list of our inventory. So we were left scrambling at the last minute to get the rest of our belongings out of the home, so we used POD instead (who are EXCELLENT). The whole move cost us double than what we were expecting. Now we are still waiting on our goods from *** - they are now over a week late past the contract window. Each time we call, we keep getting told we will get a call back with an update on a new delivery date from dispatch, but we never do. We have spoken to several managers including *******, still no update. I fear we will never get our stuff. We will never use again.

      Initially, they provided a deceptively low estimate based on weight, seemingly designed to secure the business. Then, they proceeded to subcontract the labor to individuals who handled our possessions with complete disregard, damaging several priceless family heirlooms and treating our belongings with an utter lack of care.When the true cost of the move was disclosed, it was nearly DOUBLE the original estimate. The situation only worsened from there. My repeated attempts to contact them via phone, email, and text over the course of an entire week went unanswered, leaving us in complete limbo with no updates whatsoever. FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK, WE DID NOT KNOW WHERE OUR POSSESSIONS WERE!My 80-year-old mother, was ignored for over a weekno response to her calls, emails, or texts. After waiting on hold over an hour on the phone, our Moving Coordinator informed us that the furniture had been sitting in a warehouse in ***** for over a week, with no projected delivery date.After spending over $7,000 for what should have been a seamless experience, this is the treatment my elderly mother received. When they finally arrived at my mother's new home, the movers threatened to drive off with our belongings unless we paid their exorbitant charges UP FRONT, before they unloaded.When I posted an honest, fact-based review, American Van Lines repeatedly threatened to sue me. This entire experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. I'm still getting email threats from them.If you value your time, money, and belongings, do not even consider this shameless company.

      This Company ripped me off for $10,000 ,I'm a senior. and they represented themselves as honest reliable moving company offering $4,8000 than doubling the price the time of service leaving me broke and now destitute . I pleaded with them providing the initial estimate was no way double the amount of items but no one assisted me and just left me helpless and hopeless, this company should be closed from any further operation or at least heavily investigated .

      I normally do not do bad reviews, but in this case, I will make an exception. We hired *** to make our move earlier this month from *******, ** to *****************, **. The process started out great and ******, the sales representative, was great. The problem began immediately upon the movers showing up. First, they had no packing material because they were told we would pack everything. I have moved about 7 times and NEVER have I packed everything in my house. They had to leave mid-packing to go get packing material. Then amazingly after packing about 1/3 of the truck, they announced the stuff in our garage had not been added to the original invoice. From day one they new we had a 4 bdrm, 2 bath, 2-car garage. The next thing I know is Im being up charged $2700. When I told them I was not going to pay that, the blackmail scheme came in. I was then told if I dont sign the new invoice and pay the additional cost, they would have to tell the movers to stop! So, after waiting for over a month for the move, and having to be out of our home in a few days, they have you by the ***** basically. So, I very reluctantly paid the extra $2700. Next came the massive scam. The truck they sent was not large enough to carry all my belongings! But the worse part of it was they drove away leaving about a third of my stuff there and telling me I had to pay for another moving truck!! When I talked to their management, they kept stating you paid for exclusive use of a 26 truck! I said, No, I paid for American Van Lines to move me. I had no idea what size truck I would be need, that was your job to assess. Then I was told by ****, I would have to pay them for another move, or move the rest myself!!! Who does that to a customer? I share all this just to warn others who may be looking at using AVL. They are basically cons and money grabbers. Using a up charges and blackmail to force you to pay more than the original quote!!!

      I have never left a review in my life, but my terrible experience with this company made me feel as though I had to. My furniture arrived over a month after the initial estimation date and throughout the entire process no one updated me. I had to constantly call. They could never tell me exactly where my furniture was only that it was on its way. Everyone I spoke to blamed it on someone else. It got to the point where I threatened to get the police involved unless they could tell me where my stuff was. Moving across country is already stressful enough and this made it 20 times worse. They also offered to compensate me for the delay (only a small amount) in delivery which Ive never received. Normally, I would follow up more about that but at this point, I just wanna be done with this awful company. Whatever you do, do not use them.
