Engineered Air installed an ** system in my home at *************************** The model of the unit in question is a ********** MXZ-3C24NA2 that was installed on the 1st floor. The system is not working and I called an ** repair company. They came out and looked at the system and questioned the installation of the system. The ********** unit is a ductless system. However, there is duct work. He questioned why there would be duct work for a system that is ductless. He was not sure if the unit was attached to the duct work. He was confused as to why there is duct work in place, but a ductless system was installed. We looked at the plans filed at the *************** (ToJ). The original plans show a different ** system that would require duct work. We also could not find the permits for the ** unit. He did not want to start opening up the ceiling to see if the duct work went over to the closet where the ** unit was supposed to be housed in the plans filed at the ToJ. The duct work is in all the areas that are shown on the original plans. He had also asked if you had a surplus of this model because it is a very odd choice. Especially because there is duct work already in place.1).Need the approved plans for the ********** unit that was actually installed 2). Need the approved permits for the ********** unit 3). Does the duct work go to the closet like the approved plans? The ** company is stating it will cost 8k to repair and or replace. I am attaching the plans at the ToJ and pictures of the vents.******************************************************* This explains the installation of the unit. No ducts needed.Business response

The ********** system installed at this address was called a Cassette System Air Handler. This particular unit had a port which allowed 1 - 4" duct feed to service a small area. In this case the duct fed a small bathroom.
While not totally unique these types of systems are used often in construction environments with limited space, which was the case here.
Unfortunately there are no surplus units available as are records show that this system was installed roughly 8 to 9 years ago. To add 8k is by no means an unrealistic price to replace a central AC system in South *******.
The complaint in question is not coming from the original property owner. We are not sure how many time this property has changed hands. We have not been asked visit this property since 2018.
The builder obtained and processed all permits for the job, approved plans for the job are only available through either the builder or Building Department.
Perhaps the contractor who was hired and provided analysis could come into question here? Are they an Engineering Company?

I am rejecting this response because:I have owned the home since December 22, 2017. It was a pile of dirt 8-9 years ago. You came in 2018 because the system did not work.
You did not answer WHY the building plans do not match the system that was installed. The plans show the same unit as upstairs. I will attach the plans again.
I also attached my Certificate of Occupancy that was issued the day before I closed for reference. There were 13 Cornerstones that closed right after each other. There should be some record somewhere.
Where are the permits?
Sincerely,
